This community, as well as the one on reddit or anywhere is else is not responsible for these players and the stupid shit some of them do, whether its racism, sexism, bigotry, general douchey behavior, homophobia, pedophilia or whatever else you can come up with.
Sponsors dont not wish to be associated with such individuals for obvious reasons, calling them out on it and putting a spotlight is the only right thing to do.
The community is not here to cover up for your inability like a professional
Yeah right, let us all turn professional players into colourless figures that are well mannered and type GG every time. They shouldnt talk about private stuff, only should talk about the game. I guess NOBODY is happy with that. People want drama and want to know more about the players than just about their results.
I like people with personality much more than shadeless people who appear as robots. I like people as stephano (even though he is a arrogant dick in laddergames sometimes), MC, marineking, destiny, and idra.
You guys dont get that consequences this kind of stuff has. If people are pitchforking the sponsors because of a misbehavior of a player, players will stop showing any personality at all. They will appear as robots because they are afraid of punishment.
I like emotions in sports and i like emotions in esports. I like it when idra doesnt GG if he doesnt feel like it. Some people hate or love him for doing that. And people also want the players to talk their mind and not just meaningless stuff that doesnt offend anyone.
If you keep msging the sponsors, you will take away a big part of what makes esports interessting.
You know what the key difference between players like MC, marineking, Idra, Stephano and Destiny is?
MC, marineking, idra and Stephano ARE ACTUALLY GOOD AT STARCRAFT. They're professional PLAYERS. They have results to prove it.
Destiny is not the 'Dennis Rodman' or 'Ron Artest' of Starcraft 2. He's more like a fan with season tickets that bitches and whines on the sidelines. Or a beer league baller that's a big basketball fan that can do one dunk. If I were to be really, really charitable, he would be Bill Simmons without the talent or writing ability.
Destiny is more of a fun, expendable personality than an actual player. He makes money from interacting and trolling the community, not from actually playing it well.
If you want to compare the value of 'personalities' of players like Destiny, compare him to Combatex.
So what your saying is?
If you are actually good then anything short of murder is alright as long as you win tournaments?
Meanwhile if you are mediocre= You gt the full penalty and more?
That's pretty much exactly how the whole corporate endorsements business works.
Your skill at your sport and your positive or neutrally interesting traits and actions must form a larger part of your image than negative acts and perceptions. That way, sponsors gain by being associated with skill or sportsmanship or nice people rather than losing by being associated with someone who is seen primarily as a jerk who just so happens to play just about well enough to go pro. It's all about whether you'll benefit or harm the brand by them sponsoring you.
SaviOr is proof that no-one is immune to becoming sponsorship-poison when their actions are bad enough to taint their whole image.

What I find scary is how people rationalize these situations. Steven's a big boy, he can accept responsibility for his own actions.

I think he should just post Bluetea's naked picture across every amateur porn site there is, as well as all the social media sites that can allow hot linking to it.
I fail to see how that would help the situation at all. Both parties involved are being mean to each other and both are acting quite immature. Further escalation would just make them both look even stupider...
Sorry? do you fail to see that Destiny has done far far less than Bluetea? She deserves punishment in my eyes, and I believe in serving back what is equal and fair. She publicly posted pictures of Destiny, he should return the favor.
If she was not prepared for that recourse, she should not have taken the actions she did in the first place.
He's already lost his job, his sponsor(s), nearly everything. What does she have to lose?
Posting her naked pics on amateur porn sites would obviously be taking this to yet another level of stupidity and it would serve no good. If possible, however, I hope Destiny takes legal action.
destiny loses literally nothing by being removed from ROOT, his entire career has been based around streaming and I can't see this affecting his viewer numbers negatively. everyone on their high horses about his career supposedly being sunk should probably go back a year or so when his pro career actually had a chance of being something and he spent it getting knocked out of MLG opens.
but no, let's have him waste his time with more sideshow antics, maybe he'll finally get judge judy on the case
edit: that cloudnine link says nothing about him playing in pro tournaments or being a pro player, it's just streaming. I totally agree with them: the simple fact is that destiny has no place on a serious pro team which is ostensibly what ROOT wants to be and why catz had to do what he did. destiny has a niche; let him occupy it and be done with this horrid thread.

This, combined with the utterly weird beliefs some people seem to have about sponsorships.

Did all you subscibers to the Destiny Hater Newsletter recieve some kind of inside information on Destiny's deal with ROOT? I'm pretty sure he's taking a financial hit by being dropped, but I don't have the insider information on his wage and other benefits, so I can't say for sure how big of a hit this actually is. The fact that he can still make a good buck from streaming doesn't change anything nor does it address what was in my post. An quick example for you:
Streaming revenue: 1 buck ROOT wage and other benefits: 1 buck Total income: 2 bucks Total income without ROOT: 1 buck
Since 2 bucks are more than 1 buck, Destiny will prefer to stay in the ROOT team. A crazy person cost him that opportunity while hacking his Skype and Twitter account. Legal actions may very well be appropriate.
The only thing surprising here is Destiny was sending the pictures to a female.
He has the body of a 12 year old boy. He talks with a high pitched girly voice. I wish I could kick him 1000 times in the testicles to avoid any future off spring to be spawned from those pathetic balls of his(i've seen them).

It is not about the result he shows, its about the punishment he got as a player in a team caused by a shitstorm about what he has done in his private life. Which means any player will suffer from this kind of punishment if people continue messaging the sponsors about trivial stuff.

You want personality? Lo and behold, it is actually possible to "have a personality" without shitting on others around you. For example:
I watched this live and was thoroughly entertained, however nobody is bringing up that at one point Ganzi goes "I'm Gay!" and goes into some stereotypical and a bit exaggerated flamboyant "dance moves".
What I don't understand is how that's not being attacked the same way?
We have some consistent attacks on morality as if anyone is truly "right" about what should or shouldn't have happened here, despite there being no set rules or regulations determining this morality.
I guess it all boils down to doing what you feel is right when you feel it's right, but there are people who will always be attacked because of what they've done in the past. It sucks, but I think it's just something we're going to have to deal with.
I disagree very much with how this situation was handled, and I am a Destiny fan. But I can see where the community is coming from. I just don't know why we can't be consistent.
Destiny refers to someone as a gook: is "forced" to leave his team Stephano makes a joke about the holocaust: nothing
Rather than pursue legitimate and honest action against Destiny using the tools at her disposal (TL, Reddit, etc) Bluetea retaliates in a far stronger fashion than the initial issue and is applauded for her actions.
We're pretty impossible to gauge as a community, I don't understand why anyone would try to interract with us. Not to say we're not worth it at times, but sometimes we've got to be next to impossible to understand.
Like I said, destiny is a professional attention whore. We're already at 106 pages and it's even bigger than stephano going to EG or whatever team

he brings nothing to the table besides childish drama, even if he did it'd still be outshadowed by who he is outside of the booth because that's simply the kind of guy he is. if he gave a fuck about professionalism, he wouldn't be the person he is with the laundry list of stupidity that he has trailing behind him; basically, he puts his anti-PC crusade and moral failings before either his professional gaming success or you guys, based on how you feel about how good he is or how much he really cared about whichever iteration of ROOTDestiny we're up to now.
you bros are better off without him, period.

That works both ways. He can accept responsibility, take the retribution Bluetea gave him, and there is no need for anybody else to be involved. But this is the ticket for everyone in the community to get their holier-than-thou faces on and go on a crusade.
