The lurker was in the game, they tried and wanted to make it work but couldn't. Most likely due to a very different game engine.

tbh I'm kinda sick of the sc1 talk. bring back reaver, lurker, goliath, old hydras etc...
its time to move on, try new things, swarm host isnt even out yet and everyone that I've read from mlg said its a sweet/strong unit

What's up with zerg units being so cute in SC2? Ultras already look like cuddly little puppies with a mask on, and this thing looks like freaking Strawberry Shortcake only blue. Zerg is supposed to be badass damnit

I think for ESPORTS Lurkers simply win out regardless of their existence in BW because of how they work. People get infinitely more excited watching lurker traps happen than the slow chipping away of a defense by summoned units.

Nobody better bust out the 'overlap' argument because it will just be used against you since swarm host is basically another brood lord.

Lurker should come back, and then make detection less of a commodity for P and T (add back obs, delay scan).

I'm not sure what "add back obs" means, but if you're talking about making detection even less available for protoss...wow.

I agree the lurker model in sc2 is pretty bad.

The swarm host model in game is fucking ugly but when you look at pictures like in the OP it looks relatively 'good'.

In game swarm host looks like that pokemon parasect, which is fucking ridiculous and stupid.

The lurker shits all over the swarm host. lurker actually have an attack and is micro-able. swarm host is just another easy to use no control needed unit that will have no trouble fitting into the sc2 hall of fame with the colossus, marauder, and destructible rocks.

but srsly swarm host is totally dumb. all it does is spawn a broodling once every few seconds, which takes 2+ seconds to walk over the the enemy units to start attacking. idk i mean unless you're opponent is retarded or doesn't know how to use sentries, they will just run away or block the broodlings with force fields.

Honestly, I'd prefer the Lurker. It was one of the few units that defined the Zerg race in BW along with the Zergling and Hydralisk (in my opinion) so I really don't want to see it go.

In terms of the abilities, Zerg in SC2 already has those kinds of "swarming" units (lings and roaches) and Broodlords already does what the Swarm Host does. It seems a little redundant to add to that. I rather Zerg have some AoE units that force more positioning on the Zerg's part and more micro from the Protoss (mainly) and Terran. Lurker drops are another thing that can be brought back into the game too and it'll be nice to see more harass options open other than runbys and late game Infestor drops.
