Well the shredder has 4 range, siege tanks have 13, so if you place with one range to spare, only ground units with more than 8 range will be able to attack the shredder. I do think the shredder needs a ramp up time in addition to siege time though, so that if somebody wants to set up a shredder contain, you have a short period to engage in which your army takes reduced damage. I think Blizzard does want to bring back mech, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

idk about the viper. flying and can pull colossus out of position super easily where we get wooped. hopefully this wont be as big of a deal if colossus become less vital to protoss armies

It might even be useful, but I think the biggest issue with it is the freaking cost.. wasn't this very expensive also like everything else the Protoss are getting? Terran can get every one of their new units in every game if they want to while Toss is saddled with 3 new units that come into play, at the earliest, in the mid game..

And I don't know why people are bringing balance into this at all, like the guy above me with some essay about how protoss is being buffed more than any other race...seriously? How can you say that? For all you know these units could cost 500 gas and have 1 health. How do you know that the 25 energy 'photon cannon' doesn't do absolutely terrible DPS? In the OP somebody says artosis build a proxy pylon in his base and used it, and then the guy pulled all his scvs, attacked the pylon and didn't lose a single SCV... Sorry that isn't a photon cannon lol.

I'm just talking about how the units look and feel and act, and they just seem lame :/ seems like blizzard were just trying to cram as much shit as they can into this game.

people are being stupid now. why the fuck would u replicate a 50 mineral unit for 200 minerals and 200 gas and then call it OP? the only reason u would do that is to BM and make a hatch/CC or something similiar to mindcontrolling a drone/SCV in BW.

The big problem with the Oracle is that the Terran will most likely have 1 viking out when your Oracle gets to his base. especially if it costs 200gas and is built from the stargate.

It's just big enough that roaches are in the outer part of the aoe.

Radius of 7 is different from range of 7.

......dont the shredders auto deactivate if a friendly unit is nearby?....I dont see how it can work out to well....Im sure colossus can easily hit it

I think the shredder is the best unit they announced. sounds like you can slow push with tanks now using shredders as protection against lings/zealots. similar to how spider mines were used in broodwar. only you have to place them away from your units a bit so that they will go off.

Removing thors is awful and i hate it. The Warhound sounds like a crappy replacement and wont counter muta balls nearly effectively

Also no change to the Raven? Why not remove seeker missle and replace it with lockdown or something

Come beta a lot of this could potentially change. Out of all the announcements, the Thor seems the worse. While I understand that may constitute a small balance consideration with the Thor essentially out of the way, I just feel that is the wrong approach. If anything it should be a late game tech unit just like the Battlecruiser or the Ultralisk. A single super unit does not seem to fit.

The rest of the changes should be interesting to test out and see where they take us.

i would guess to use the same openers ( either 2 rax marine/bunker pressure or reactor hellion expand ) then go into mass mech ( the new goliaths/siege tanks and a few shredders) with a starport added in late game for ravens with seekers and to detect the burrowed moving banelings. Dont even bother with marine tank, that shit is out the window


i'm guessing some mech play is going to be the way to go because basically all the new zerg abilities counter marine play.
