when introduced i am pretty sure it was meant to be a "gateways are still the main producers...
No, it wasn't. From the very first Protoss reveal in 2007, Warp-In gave a production speed boost. That, coupled with removing the locality of production, guaranteed that WarpGate would be the only form of Gateway used once you got the research. Blizzard was testing the thing for three years, if not more. They knew good and well that WarpGates would always be used instead of Gateways. Therefore, we can only assume that this was the intent.
You can't say that Warp-In being the primary means of Gateway unit production is not exactly as Blizzard intended. Now, you can say that it didn't lead to good effects for the overall game. But mechanically, it is exactly what Blizzard intended.
Therefore, if they made this change, they would be just as clearly stating that what they intended was not necessarily good for the game.
This is for single player only right?
Did you even read the OP, or did you just look at the picture?
i dont think its hellions because the wheels are different size. the hellion model has wheels that are all the same.
of course they can change that... but i think its not a hellion but a new vehical/walking unit. at first i thought, fusion cores, but the traction on the cylinders made them wheels. the gun on top had the ignition thing that made me thing flame thrower, but its not hollow. flamethrowers aren't like that, so i think its a different weapon... possibly electrical or beam like.
the arms of the unit are shields, which is unnatural so it should be a transformer and this is the 2nd form.
EDIT:
it's a hellion that transforms into a marauder. thus blizzard scrapping marauders.
bringing back the vulture-like unit into marauder without mines i think

Give Marauder AoE attack or eliminate it altogether. Remove Reaper Make Tanks 2 supply. Replace Thor with new splash AA unit. Less supply. Make Banshee faster, but nerf attack dmg/hp a bit. Reduce Comsat footprint by 25-33%. Nerf MULE mining rate slightly. Give EMP to Raven and remove HSM. Give Ghost new ability
Zerg: Give Hydras Marauder's concussive slowing attack, upgraded at hydra den. More in line with Zerg's Make Roaches 1 supply again so zerg feels more swarmy compared to terran. Nerf HP and attack accordingly. Buff default armor to compensate for reduced HP. Lurkers evolve from Roach at tier 2. 2 supply, not seige range. No burrow move. Make Burrow Hatchery tech. Broodlords evolve from mutalisk. Replace corruptor. Add scourge.
Protoss: Make Warpgate cooldown a bit slower than Gateway cooldown. Move Warpgate upgrade to Twilight Council, adjust research time. Replace Colossus with more exciting, more dangerous splash Robotics unit. Fix carrier micro or replace carrier Replace mothership with non-hero caster air unit. Rename Phoenix AA Splash Air unit
SC2, now with 200% more excitement, playability, and watchability
I think this guy lost his BW CD...
just my 2 cents... but i think the moving warpgate to twilight council tech is an AWSOME idea. tho you will never get the toss to agree to it... but it makes sense to me.
when introduced i am pretty sure it was meant to be a "gateways are still the main producers... but for an upgrade u can make units anywhere on the map, but cd time makes its slower than normal gates, since you are gaining the convenience of being able to warp in anywhere on the map. but somewhere it got changed where warpgates are mandatory and faster than warpgates.
not to mention... Broodwar is by FAR more exciting to spectate than SC2 and i have switched completely off of BW to SC2 but the only match that has ever come close to a BW match in excitement was the Boxer v ..NAda(?) games at MLG anaheim which was a 1.5 hour AWSOME game
I really hope this isn't a replacement for the medivac, hence changing the medivac to a carrier. It's going to limit Terran harass options really.... making harrassing so much more riskier.
I've come to the conclusion it's just a transformed Hellion. The questions I have now are, when it's transformed;
- Will it only be able to attack air or just ground still? - What type of attack will it have? Still a linear type flame or more of an AOE Arc type flame? - I think it's obvious it will have increased armour, but how slow will it really move? I'm hoping it at least moves just as fast as the ground Viking.
Will it get a spell cast ability it can use when transformed? Such as laying mines?
I highly doubt it will though. If it has a spellcast ability, they will slap a gas cost on the unit. I can't see this happening.
I'm really hoping Terran gets a unit in this expansion that can lay down mines
@ MaestroSC. The only reason BW is more entertaining to watch is because the game has been played out sooooo much it's pretty much down to a science. Give SC2 some time for gods sake, it's still a new game and I'm sure there are heaps more things yet people still haven't worked out about the game. I think we all agree here Terran is by far the most "worked out" race so far. But I'm sure Protoss and Zerg still have little tricks up their sleeves that no-one knows about yet.
SC2 is only going to get more exciting as time goes along IMO.
EDIT: What if it is in fact a vulture, but transformed? Only one can wish.....

oh no, that would make terran like other races, what is this i dont even
It really looks like a Firebat transformation for the Hellion. What really intrigues me the most about this is, what are they taking out?
They will probably release the zerg "shadow" next tuesday, and the protoss one the other one.. and then reveal all the mystery the next weekend on Blizzcon
Maybe this unit can dig trenches / foxholes for Marines to take cover in and hold key positions, giving them a fair chance of not getting hit by ranged units. jk. That would be way too complex, and bunkers already fill that role well enough.

Considering the US war on terror, I don't think that would be appropriate in TvT ^_^
I think... that for all we know it could be a Honda Prius heavily modified by Rory Swann with a flower-shooting blaster gun thingie on top and a smiley face painted on the front.
Also, it would only be functional after you put an SCV inside to pilot it. The untrained SCV pilot would not be very good at this, so the pathing AI for the new unit would be purposefully, completely unpredictable. It would also be quite innacurate.

also medivacs weren't in brood war yet t managed to drop all the time...

I can't wait to see the other two racial units!
I figured they meant the order was Terran, Zerg, Protoss since that is the order of the games (Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, Legacy of the Void).

Sounds fun!
I'd like that. That's the new hummiliation. Make 50 Honda Priuses and run them into your friend's base and /dance will making a scan flower :D
In all honesty it looks really ugly to me. Gotta wait until I see the whole picture, but so far I'm just worried.. Reminds me of that south park episode where George Lucas kept raping his creations...
My guess is that it's some kind of support unit. It kind of looks like a repair thing on the top, so I'm guessing it's to help with mech units or maybe a it's like a mini version of the raven. I imagine either way, a great name for it would be "Engineer".
mass engineer. Imba.
Here's a picture from Warhammer 40k, which is what SC ripped off which is what star wars ripped off which is what every other science fiction is the same ripped off:

People find stuff that is down to a science entertaining? If you asked 100 BW fans what they enjoyed about watching BW, maybe one would say they like it because it has been boiled down to a science. BW is fun because it is full of action all over the map, and some people may argue that it is exciting to watch since they can't play at that level, so watching someone else play at that level is exciting.
SC2 is fun to watch also because it is full of action, and yes, most people don't play like a pro no matter how much they think they do. However a huge difference currently is the fact that SC2 currently is a mass army vs army game. The game is usually decided after one quick battle, and based on the current map pool and design of many units, it doesn't seem like it will be changing soon.
