EDIT: Can a moderator please change the title to "Dreamhack Valencia Sv.Streaminfo" please? Thanks!
Hello Teamliquid,
As most of you already know, Aftonbladet (Big Swedish tabloid) covered the first Dreamhack invitational in Stockholm and has shown an interest in investing a lot more in esport, ecpecially StarCraft2.
And now they are also going to cover Valencia and, if it goes well, a lot more in the future!
I have worked for Aftonbladet through Amok Studios a couple of times now (I did the interviews at Dreamhack Invitational Stockholm) and I'm now going to Valencia. Aftonbladets stream is going to show Dreamhacks casters (NOTE: Yes the original english casters and stream!), but Aftonbladets stream is going to have exclusive player- and caster interviews between matches, long personal one-on-one talks with the players and the casters. We have read all comments on our last broadcast and have taken many steps to improve on the things you, the community, gave feedback on.
Aftonbladets stream will cost 1 Swedish Kroner (0,15$), I have not been informed on why this is so I can not answer any questions regarding it, however 0.15 dollars is a quite trivial sum but it goes a long way of supporting esports! So please support the growth of Esports in Sweden!
There will be a free english stream from Justiv.Tv don't worry, it will have the same casters but it will not have the interviews and reportage in between the matches/pauses.
There is alot of discussion regarding Aftonbladet as a source and I understand this, but please understand that this 1 kr or 0.15 cents are not going into the pocket of Aftonbladet but rather shows them that there is an interest in esports worth supporting. It also helps pay our paychecks, travel expenses etc. here at Amok Studious and we've worked with SvT and dreamhack on many occasions before. If you do not wish to pay 1 kr then that is fine there will be a free stream but do not argue saying that you refuse to "support" Aftonbladet; You've watched Simpsons/Futurama/Family Guy with a 99% probability and they're made by Fox whom makes Fox News. This is the same concept.
We at Amok studios are all Esportsfans. Our founders was the first ones outside Korea to manage to send Esports on television, not just online! I am one of the founders of BarCraft in sweden, so we care about the community and want to see more StarCraft2 in sweden. The fact that aftonbladet wants to broadcast more StarCraft2 is awesome for the Swedish community and I hope that you want to support this!
EDIT: The site where you will have to sign up is here ; http://www.aftonbladet.se/plus/ This count's as a subscription though so if you do not want to subscribe to Aftonbladet PLUS you need to UNSUBSCRIBE as soon as you've paid the initial 1 kr. You'll then have access to the stream and all of Aftonbladets "Plus" stuff for 1 month and you will only ever pay 1kr. As mentioned in this topic by awesome fans, when asked why you unsubscribe feel free to mention that Starcraft II was the only reason you paid to begin with (if that indeed was your only reason)

isn't 1 kronor like 10 cent or something? seems a rather silly thing to do - what are they payment options?
Aside from that exciting news :-)

Aftonbladets stream costs 1 kronor, i dont know why (even though im part of the team going to Valecia), but still its not expencive! So support the growth of egaming in Sweden!!

dude, my brother's office is where amok studios used to have theirs! were you involved in the fifa 09 competition with professional commentators that was on national tv?
great news btw!

If they're just going to charge 10 cents why charge at all >.> I know a lot of people won't even bother since it's so little
|
It's probably to test the viewer count.
How many people really want to see the stream vs how many just click the link to see what's going on.

awesome! but i have only worked at Amok since beginning of -10 so that was before my time! was reporter at DHS -10 and DHW-10 for SVT. Did the the day9 interview at DHW-10 ^^ good times!

Yeah I agree...I dont think many ppl will bother at all....the charge is silly (15 cents actually )....just make people register or something for free..... The only reason people will pay 15 cents... is if the stream was exlusive and the only one that ran the actual games.....
|
I think they charge to see how many people would pay to watch their stream. Otherwise, it'd be the most retarded thing ever.
|
People will not pay that since there is an international stream with better casters anyway that is completely free. You should inform them about this simple fact. I will pay to show my support while Im watching the international stream but it is still retarded.

Sounds like they're going to basically restream the in-game stream, but have extra out of game content that would probably be more interesting than what you'd normally get.

I think it's good that aftonbladet supports esports, but the "newspaper" over all is the most biased unprofessional paper in sweden, while still having a huge impact on the young people. Therefore I am sad to say that I would never pay for any of it's services.
|
Awesome! Will not buy it though cause I dislike Aftonbladet so so much. They are very unproffessional...
|
Is the additional content going to be put out in the Swedish language?
|

But from what I've heard (from undisclosed sources of great legitimacy) primarily english interviews but the swedish players may be interviewed in Swedish and subtitles added after the live content.

I agree to some extent, I wouldn't waste the poo it would take to shit on aftonbladet but this sum of 1 kr is probably going straight to the esports department of it, hardly think I'm supporting aftonbladet as a whole.
|
Might pay but the money is going to Aftonbladet which does sting a bit.

Understandable but please realize that the money coming in is mostly going to pay for the stream, travel costs and paychecks for Amok Studios etc. and hardly Aftonbladets bank account.
There is just no way for a stand alone company to spend the money on sending people to spain and stream/film at such quality. All tournaments have their sponsors employers and ours is Aftonbladet and Telia: Would you skip watching the Olympics in football/hockey because Aftonbladets sponsors them too?
|
Haha 1 kr, hilarious Will pay though to show support!
|
1kr.
Sorry but i'd rather throw that 1kr on a bum than Aftonbladet.
|
I guess the intention to monetize content by the newspaper is very understandable, but as long as paying over the internet is as cumbersome as it is today, I think it'll be hard to get the number of paying customers that they're looking for. I like the idea of the micro-transactions, but the lack of a one-button/one-action payment solution skews the trouble><amount of money in the direction of laziness/inaction. I hope it'll pay off though, I think it's quite original of a big established news-media like Aftonbladet to try to get involved (and make money) of a niche interest like SC2.
|
Everybody from Sweden should be supporting this no matter what, 1 kr is nothing. If you're Swedish and not buying the 1 kr pass you're killing esport.
