damn! i wish i could play online with such low latency. so it's basically lan latency when they play in korea like the GSL? i can only play at SEA for 100ms i wonder if i can play competitive with 100ms if i'm going to play people from singapore with lan latency? I'm assuming that they have lan latency btw.

Well it's 1/3 of a second delay, so placing proper force fields along with any other micro intensive tasks like baneling micro can be very frustrating.

It definitely helps a lot, when I was in Singapore for a stopover on a flight, it was so nice everything is just so ..... smooth you click and stuff happens, your forcefields are never late and your marines move away from banelings like nothing else

EDIT: that being said, since I'm so bad latency doesn't bother me! - I play ONLY on the US once they opened that up to us, why would I play on SEA when I can play with US buddies? I guess if everyone else follows that philosophy, the SEA server is probably quite barren.
No way, sea is fun to play on because of the constant aggression, below masters or so, I think sea is a lot more fun, but above masters, just because of the population etc, it gets pretty tough to find new opponents, and you'll probably find players of higher skill in other servers.
300 ping..is kinda bad, you'll actually notice the time it takes from the command to travel from your keyboard/mouse to your troops. Force fielding ,etc is very frustrating, because 1 missed forcefield=gg. But a lot of my friends bought NA copies, so I play team and custom games there.1v1 laddering is done on sea.

Ultimately they don't care about local servers, there was a discussion on the WoW forums years back about local servers and they eventually disregarded the issue because morons kept white-knighting for Blizzard :-( It's a shame, but unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about it. On topic: I get 250ms to SEA, 300ms to US, 300ms to KR with AAPT.
As long as its prohibitively expensive to host servers here yes thats exactly it. Apparently blizz has had past dealings with telstra and blizz was extorted out of the idea, the same applies for hon, i posted a quesiton regarding aus servers and they (s2) said that its just to expensive.

Lol Optus is so bad, I will get 400ms on KR, 300ms on SEA and 200 on US.

I play from Australia with telstra lag free.

basically telstra made unreasonable demands and blizzard rejected it, leaving us to rot in our hellhole for the rest of eternity
at least that's what happened according to the internet

Turns out LG Dacom have recently started peering at HKIX so if your ISP uses that, happy days.

Im with internode (AUS) i get 100 to SEA, 200 to US and 230 to korea... will i notice 30 ping more? I already hate microing on US with 200 ping

I don't understand how to read the output of tracert.
I get like 20 lines of pings, ranging from 5ms to 400ms, with random IP/URLs on the right hand side. How do you interpret the output?

@topic, more than 200 ping is pretty bad, I remember trying dota in Aus and everyone except me had more than 100 ping and that game went horrible

Australian isn't exactly an ideal location to host server to be honest.
They either screw over Australia or screw over the rest of SEA. Pretty easy choice to be honest.
