I did a search on this and couldn't find any quick answer.

Do any SEA players have experience with playing on Korean servers from Australia (or any other SEA country)?

I'm thinking about getting a Korean account, but not too sure what the latency will be like.

Any ideas?

Sorry, but you can't get a Korean account without proving that you live in Korea. Based on latency to other games in the area (Japan), the ping is slightly better than to the US (average 150-200, as opposed to 250-300 to the US).

Yeah I know I can't directly get a Korean account. Obviously others have already found ways around that since plenty of people have Korean accounts, I'll worry about that later.

connection from hk to korea is like 100 so i guess its like 150~200 from sg to kr.

you can play on the korean server if u source a copy though it is rather difficult depending on ur location then the latency will be different. The east coast probly will be worst due to the way the network is laid out while the west coast will experience much less lag. It really depends on ur location, internet quality and providor. apparently it can be a second of lage i.e. inputs occur one second after u execute them.

Here is a list of the IP's of the servers.

Open command prompt and type
tracert kr.logon.battle.net
This should give you some idea of your ping to the Korea server. (the last numbers before it times out)

@Ruscour there are ways to get Korean accounts. Lots of people have bought them off Koreans who don't want to play.

I'm on the west coast of Australia.

Looks like I might jump for a copy. Thanks guys.

Tracert results show that my latency to KR will be about 200ms, while my latency to the US servers (which I currently play on with no problems) is 300+.

I'm in Perth and would get around 200ms. It's a pity it goes from Perth -> Sydney first, otherwise it could be much lower. Some Perth ISPs have routing through Singapore which could mean much better pings to Korea. Also, east coast ISPs with the same routing I have should actually get sub-150ms which would be very playable. Anything below 200-250ms should be pretty even given the minimum 200 or 250ms Battle.net latency.

For the record I'm with iiNet.

Playing from New Zealand is about 300 ms.. but that's because New Zealand's internet infrustructure isn't that good atm

I get roughly 200+? when playing on NA and it's playable but 300 is a little to much.

likewise. Hopefully I can source a Korean account and play with some better latency.

From Malaysia, I get on average 90ms. I was really impressed when I played on KR battle.net for the first time. Lag free environment.

it's less than optimal, put it that way. you won't start losing all your games because of a 100ms delay increase.
