yeah thats why there is a relatively low level of interest in rts in australia and new zealand as the latency is usually terrible where as local servers for fps provide much better pings.

LOL it wasnt our idea to have the servers located in Singapore.... That was ambitious and stupid on blizzards part.
I get 200 to US 300 to kr and 176 to sea
Sydney with tpg.

It reminds me of the old days In quake, where you had HPBs and LPBs.. in Sc2, regardless of the realm I'm on (SEA, NA or EU) I very much feel like a HPB. Micro intensive games are just frustrating to play.

Well it''s expensive to host servers in Aus atm, the NBN will hopefully change the economics of the situation but until then we are stuck with crappy pings
|
19 days since last post, but in-case they are still looking around;
My isp (internode) seems to have changed their routing and instead of getting 320ms(ish) to KR server I'm now getting 134ms. (live in WA) Another friend is getting 190ms and he was on 311ms(ish) before the change too.

wow that's practically LAN latency..
|
I use Internode from Sydney
KR - best server NA - pretty decent, only slightly worse than KR SEA - average, don't really play on this server so it doesn't matter EU - noticeable latency, don't tend to play on this server because of it

Sorry to post in a somewhat unrelated manner but C:\users\hnbroadway? as in harveynorman broadway?

SEA server is very loss too.
I find sometimes my units just don't respond.
I get a higher ping to NA but its a lot more smooth than SEA. I play from Perth

Someone who can sell me a kr account please drop me a PM

Ultimately they don't care about local servers, there was a discussion on the WoW forums years back about local servers and they eventually disregarded the issue because morons kept white-knighting for Blizzard :-(
It's a shame, but unfortunately there's nothing that can be done about it.
On topic: I get 250ms to SEA, 300ms to US, 300ms to KR with AAPT.
|
I have less than 100ms to korea server from Malaysia.
Surely almos lan latency to Sea
to NA it changes a lot depending on the time from 150ms - 350 ms
|
I'm with iiNet living in Brisbane, looks like this
KR 280 US 230-250 SEA 130
|
I playing on KR from Sydney and there doesn't seem to be too much lag for me.
The lag from SEA to US is 10x worse
|
it's not unplayable by any means you won't be able to get the fastest ffs off either though

Sydney with tpg. there's a reason why blizzard doesn't make a server in australia

I used to get about 200 to the NA and 250 to sea, but now or some reason I get 80-90 to sea and 250 to NA. My latency to the kr.logon thing is abou 150, which is kinda okay...but putting the money down for another copy = TT

Are the SEA players that bad to play with? I mean I suck personally but surely our ladder isn't that bad you need to go elsewhere for games?
EDIT: that being said, since I'm so bad latency doesn't bother me! - I play ONLY on the US once they opened that up to us, why would I play on SEA when I can play with US buddies? I guess if everyone else follows that philosophy, the SEA server is probably quite barren.

Level is about the same until you reach Masters - Grandmasters

Speaking from experience SEA > NA in terms of skill in sub masters leagues. Above that I cannot say, I think the very top of NA is more competitive because of all the NA pros that play there, my friends in masters/gm on SEA say NA is worse until you start hitting the pros though.
