You have to consider that IdrA can probably take out any non-US player, and there's plenty of other decent-ish US players to back him up.
In terms of player-skill per population, it's definately Sweden and Ukraine. Germany has to be fairly close after. What does population size have to do with anything? USA has less players performing than Ukraine and Sweden. Idra can most certainly not beat any non-US player, in fact, his toughest opponents are non-us players (WhiteRa, Jinro, Naniwa to name a few). Population size has quite a lot to do with it. If you were to play USA vs Sweden and keep going until one team can no longer field a decent player I'd be willing to bet that Sweden would run out of players before the USA. Sure, Sweden can probably field a better 4-5 player team, but if you kept throwing the USA GM players at them they'd eventually lose because beyond the top few players it's hard to name anybody capable of winning games at that level. It's like comparing something like USA vs Jamaica in athletics. Sure, Jamaica has the biggest superstar with Usain Bolt, but the USA has such a huge number of medal winning athletes that you just have to say that they have a better lineup overall. Of course it's all opinion and down to how you want to set restrictions. I'm simply saying that in terms of numbers of players capable of winning games, USA probably has more. If you're looking for the best 4-person team, it could be different. Which honestly is irrelevant because China would win that format anyway...

Would be awesome with something like a Bo7 country vs country 1on1. Might even throw a 2on2 in there for good measure and for making a 4-4 tie possible, which would require an ace-match!

Sweden is e-sports capital of the world imo..just look how popular basshunter is lol. USA has a huge population, but e-sports isn't as accepted. In other games like counter-strike, Sweden has always been amazing too. Ukraine always is up there in e-sports too which always surprises me.

United Kingdom! We got....Demuslim!
and that's all.

Sweden, Ukraine, Germany, USA
I was expecting a lot more from Russia to be honest. Both Sweden and Ukraine kinda surprised me in how good they are, even though they showed great results in Counter-Strike I never saw them beeing so good in RTS. Germany has somewhat of an equal position like in WC3 I think, just a little better though: Somewhat solid and not bad, but not top class.

Sweden Ukraine Germany Canada
Sweden is just untouchable, no doubt. Ukraine has many good player, but they dont win so often compared to BETA Times Germany, the same like Ukraine, really nearlly every player in rank 200-50 is German in GML, but there aren´t High-Skilled person Canada many good players, but no good tourmanent results

Ukraine and Sweden tied.
Then it's canada/usa/germany.

We already agreed, its about quality not quantity, it doesnt matter that Canada has the most pros when Naniwa can allkill all of them. Anyways its obvious that Sweden is first, anyone who thinks otherwise is biased towards his own county probably. Other 4 countries (USA,CAN,GER,UKR) are pretty close, each one can win another day. Though id like to add Poland there, they would be like an underdog but they could do good. France, Finland and Russia come after that in no particular order.

I think Sweden have a lot rolling with esport right now, and has an unfair advatange if you would compare to other countries. Sweden was very fast with personal computers at home in the 90s, and were among the first in the world with broadband and later fiber. The long winters also contributes, with many people staying inside.
The only real disadvantage Sweden has to other countries is their population, 9 million. If you compare to Ukraine for example, which many brings up in this thread, which has 45 million. This is not really fair either though. Sweden is richer than Ukraine, and is ranked as one of the highest welfare countries in the world, which obviously does matter. Most people in Sweden has access to a computer and ok internet, while this is not the case in Ukraine and most other highpopulated easteurope countries.
If you look to other sports such as ice-hockey or football, Sweden is way better than they should be with their 9 million. The skill in esport and other sports has more to do with the environment and circumstances the people live in, than with the countries sheer population.

Sweden followed by Ukraine and Germany. All other main nations are just as good as each other really.

I think sweden is best with terran : jinro, sjow, thorzain
usa best with zerg: idra, spanishiwa, sheth
canada best toss : huk, kiwikaki, TT1
ukraine is all round : whitra- toss, kas- terran, dimaga- zerg

Only judging by the performance of players so far in tournaments I would have to say Sweden. That would be comparing the strength of the nations since the release of SC2 though. I'm not sure which country currently has the best players but I think that would be Sweden too. USA, Canada Ukraine and Germany are not at all far behind though and I think any of those countries could beat any other in a bo5.
http://ehcg.djgamblore.com/compare.php?field=country
Sweden $99,473.00
USA $76,398.00
Canada $58,583.00
Ukraine $49,563.00
Germany $43,489.00
