I would say yes for the first game only. After the first game I dont have any problem. It's mostly because I feel that ill play badly without warming up first.

I have a constant fear of laddering for some reason. So I just go in custom games, like xelnaga and shattered, so it's easier to get the map I want, and not feel any pressure but get the pretty much same expierence.

Not nervous, but I usually get the shaky hands after a win and need to take a break before I start another game.

Also, losses on the ladder make me 10x more focused in the next game. It's weird, but I get pretty angry at myself in sc2 (which never happened in bw) which helps me so much in the following game.

I get fuckin' freaked out. Posted about it many times here.

In a long match, I'll sweat in the endgame. Sometimes if I work myself up enough waiting for a match, I'll get short of breath. I love the game, I love 1v1 but I've pretty much stopped laddering.

I really enjoy casual 1v1 with friends with a lot of chatting and obsing, do that as much as I can :D

I wouldn't say I'm nervous, but hitting the button gets my adrenaline pumping for the match. Losses don't affect me that much but it can be a little intimidating, especially after a long win streak. I just get excited to play a good game.

Actually for me, laddering does feel different than say, playing a FFA or custom game. I think because there're points at stake but I try not no think too much about it. Unfortunately, my subconc lets me know that he cares xD

It doesn't make me nervous it isn't that big of a deal but when a huge losing streak like I am now on I get nervous ever game counts. I just can't shake this losing streak. Like yesterday I played decent but it seems like every other day its just a day of me losing every game. That's when I get nervous when I know I'm a losing steak. If I lose my first game it feels like its going to be one those days where I do nothing but lose and I start making mistakes all the time.

I kind of feel that way too about my first games of the day, sometimes I can just feel that I wont be playing my best. When I bought SC2 on the release date I sat down and laddered right away without any experience in sc2. After 2 loses as terran I switched to zerg and immediately started to win (Zerg BW player). After a few days of laddering my win ratio was great. I started playing team games after that, and never 1vs1 laddered since. After achieving my goal that was the brood lord portrait, I came back to 1vs1s, but this time customs. I am still in this custom game trap frame of mind, and am afraid to press start.

Mainly its because I will be facing players as good as me. If I feel I'm not playing my best it makes it even harder to want to ladder.

I will custom to warm up. I fall into keep customing and soon I become tired and there's no way I'am pressing start.
Why don't we see who is the wizard and play some one on one, I think you'll find me sympathetic to ya when I've won, It seems you've got the brawn to beat me if this was all it takes, But I've got skills to pay the bills and punish each of your mistakes.

For the most part there's no stress at all, but if I've just beaten someone in a very satisfying way I won't be able to play another game for a while because I'm so pumped from my win and too busy going back over the game in my mind. The only time I do get nervous is when I roll a TvP; since I play pure mech in that matchup I feel like every game I'm defending the honour of factory units and if I lose I'm a failure and have let down every mech user in the world. Currently I'm browsing TL instead of playing because I just smashed someone with mech, which combines my two ladder-related mental issues. :D

I don't get nervous laddering except for 1v1's. Like it's only at the beginning for the 1st 2-3 matches of 1v1 laddering when i get that "eww" feeling, especially if I lose. But once I get in the groove I usually play 7-10 games.

For me it makes me kind of nervous, but when I lose it can be really hard to go back, especially when I know I could've won if I didn't make 1 precious mistake.

It used to. I'd win one game and then stop because i didn't want to lose. I just kept reminding myself that ladder doesn't matter at all. It's a great way to practice. And now I just play games freely. The only way to improve is to play.

I'm nervous until my first loss of the day. Then I just stop caring and keep pressing that find match button.

After the first game it's fine, but i have to say, getting a random d/c or something in a game I could have won will put me off laddering for the rest of that day. This is only for 1v1's though (I treat team games as just a bit of fun with mates)

I get nervous, but I like that starcraft can make me nervous. There aren't that many things in my daily routine that gets adrenaline pumping through my bloodstream. It's only when I've been busy and haven't laddered for a while that I feel apprehensive, 'cause I know my macro won't be up to scratch.

This is a good point. Even though ladder can, to borrow from Day9, pump a bunch of chemicals into your system, I really embrace it as a good thing. I can not think of any game that gets me as pumped up. I think we get nervous thanks to the competitive nature of this game, but the thrill of winning keeps us coming back no matter what.

Hate losing consecutive games but no I don't get nervous, no reason to be (on ladder) for me.
