When i got promoted FINALLY to silver a few weeks ago, i felt VERY nervous pressing that "Find match" button for the first time, knowing i'd definitely be facing a silver or above. Needless to say i got demolished my first game, and it really shook me, i was thinking "do i really deserve to be in silver if i can beaten like that?" I played a few more matches and started winning 2/3 of my games against silver and i started to realize that Silver is hardly better than bronze in most cases. Once i realized that, my playing got much better and now i'm being faced against Gold opponents and either winning or holding my own in most cases. (Hope to get promoted soon to gold! :D) When i hit a rough losing streak patch (3+games) i get really turned off by the game though, thats why i voted "No, but on a losing streak it's hard to press the button"

When you play against the same person doing the same build every time it is easier to tell what you did wrong and why and improve that, but on ladder it can be so many different things. I also think it is stressful to start laddering after taking a long break. TThe only time I ever felt scared of laddering was after I took my break, but I realized this was just mind games from my side. Otherwise I'm generally fine, though. 1v1 games are worse than team match up since team match ups are more lenient towards personal mistakes, and I prefer to practice in team match ups to get into shape before I do 1v1s. What savagebeavers said is good also. I've noticed that the lower level the player, the more scared they seem to be of laddering because they seem to think that they are going to meet too challenging opponents, even though the way the league system works is to exactly reduce this except when it gauges your skills by putting you up against higher or lower ranked players. I always convince these people that this is exactly the reason why you should ladder, because you will always be forced to meet opponents of similar skill and thus force you to improve. It can be intimidating to play against too good players, but too easy players allow for mistakes also and does not improve you. Hence laddering is exactly the place to be if you want to be good. Yesterday evening I was so frustrated because I couldn't split up my probes properly no matter how I tried. Sometimes I was even AFK when the match started because I was looking away and I didn't even notice. I also missclicked the mineral patch several times and sent my workers beside the patch. I haven't lost 500 times though, but I feel these are things you should not do wrong. I'm even one of few among my friends who actually do a worker split, the rest don't seem to care or may not have the accuracy to do it. I did this in team games though, and I started to think that if I mess up a bit it doesn't really matter. I know what I did wrong and I know how to improve it. I know how to do it right and I can do it right. I was laddering until 2-3 AM yesterday and I started to mess up past midnight, so it was probably tiredness. I understand that such mistakes may be vital in 1v1 though, since it screws up the timing completely from there with loss of mineral time meaning your build order will always be a bit behind.

Then I'm usually really unfelxible and stiff and I can't really concentrate. But after a shower, breakfast and some chatting there are no further problems... I had some nerve issues the first 20 games I played on ladder, but I told myself that there is no reason to be nervous and now its gone!
