Before you post, read the title of this thread slowly and out loud. |

Are you talking about the map pool they're going to be using, like people voting for using a particular gsl map in the pool or the like?

The Q&A has been updated with answers to other questions. Please read the OP before asking any other questions. I will now be fielding more community questions... so please ask away.
Remember:- I will not answer questions that are answered in the OP
- I will not answer questions about the North American Star League's business model
Enjoy!!~
Note:- We have removed the "5 players per team" cap.
- There was never, and was never planned to be: a cap on Korean participation, all Korean applicants will be judged the same as everyone else

Yeah exactly, I think it would be cool. Of course it wouldn't concretely determine which maps are in the pool but could at least be an easy way to get spectator/player input.

Numerous times in this thread, I've responded to people ensuring them that the games will not be casted from replays. I would like to think that that is still the case, and that I'm just nit picking a vague answer, but...On February 23 2011 07:55 Xeris wrote: Our broadcast nights will be from Tuesday to Saturday. The games will be played beforehand. That doesn't really say the casting won't be done from replays. Again, I'm assuming that replays are still not being used, but a definitive and clear "no" in that answer would be nice.

They said games will be cast live and broadcast later quite explictly on SOTG.

I understand that, and that's precisely what & why I've been telling people who asked about it in this thread. I'm just suggesting that when the question of replays is brought up in the official Q&A it should probably reflect the same answer that has been given before, not a vague "The games will be played beforehand."

Games will NOT be cast from replays. The games will be cast AS they are being played, they just won't be STREAMED live... after the cast, the videos will be sent to production, and after editing they will be broadcast in the evenings.
Is this more clear?

Will the videos be linked/viable pre tounrey?

You should put this in the OP. The answer in the OP is really ambiguous and makes it seem as if you're dodging the question.

I don't get this question, can you clarify please?

There's a reason people stay up late to watch the GSL even though they own a premium account. It's not really rational, but it is what it is. People love the feeling of being there as-it-happens. You can try to logic it out, say you don't understand the psychology behind it, but it is there and you will lose viewership over the decision to give up live viewing for fancy studio effects. To be perfectly honest, I would prefer the TSL / TeamSpeak Open system of casting from replays while streaming over the NASL system of pre-recording everything. I can't explain it well, but there it is.
Maybe I'm the crazy one, but when there are technological hiccups in the GSL, such as players getting disconnected, I like going through the sense of discovery with the casters, and I really don't want anything like that withheld. It's part of the reason I like Tasteless and Artosis as much as I do: even when unexpected things happen, watching them just bullshit for a few minutes rather than them just saying "we'll fix it in post" and us never seeing it adds a lot to the character of the casters and (oddly enough) the game itself. Everything just feels so much more artificial when you know you're not getting the whole picture, warts and all.
Out of the relatively minor nigglings I've had with NASL so far (RIP 5-per-team rule), this is the only thing that has introduced real doubt in my mind.
That in mind, will the "LAN" finals be streamed live as-they-happen? I've searched through the thread and seen the question a couple of times, but have not seen the answer.
Also, in a completely unrelated question:
Are you guys planning use the new caster features that Blizzard introduced in the patch currently on the PTR?

Sorry, that was vague lol.
The "interview" videos pros are doing as part as their application - will those be accessible before their matches etc?

The interviews will be on the player profiles on the websites. We'll try to get as many video interviews and content as possible given that we'll be having players from all over the world participating.

The LAN finals will be streamed 100% live. The caster tools look really nice, we might look into that.

This is great news and a good decision. I am officially no longer disappointed with anything in this tournament... for now!

It is really sad for me that the free stream will run at 800kbps because my stupid connection does only have 720kbps download maximum, but I feel very pleased regarding the other viewers

Since it will be on Justin.tv, they have a feature where that includes quality settings on the stream itself, so if it is too high you should be able to lower the quality.

My understanding is that for each day of broadcasting, one division will have all it's players play, so 5 matches total per night. Will these matches be best of 3?
|
Matches are bo3, and yes one division will play per night.

Same. That was my only real beef and it was changed!
