Before you post, read the title of this thread slowly and out loud. |

A day later, with all the delays/bullshit cut out and post-production/music/graphics put in, the game (already commentated.) is broadcast to us. 2.3. Everyone is happy as a clam because that's a seriously great way to do it. Keep doing what your doing Xeris, major props for the work you guys are putting into this.
1. Games are commentated in real-time as they are played
I remember when I was young and new to reading too...
To be less sarcastic; I just said that.

It'll be nice not watching games with the risk of someone disconnecting.

Good job with the thread Xeris. Much appreciated.

He really is. Western eSports really woudn't be the same if it wasn't for iNcontroL. No way.

People on this thread should chill the hell out and stop bitching about a product that actually hasn't launched yet. The sense of entitlement in the SC community is so disgusting and immature at times.
The fact that Xeris is even fielding questions from you vultures is a testament to his patience. It's their money and their business. They don't have to justify anything to anybody but their stakeholders, and technically owe you absolutely nothing.

Which is different from this process.
2. Game is played 2.2 Game is commentated after its already been played. however, no one actually thinks that when they see "games casted live," they expect a live stream. xeris is a smart guy, i'd be surprised if he didn't know that's how most people will interpret what he wrote. the way he wrote it could easily confuse some people. I think he assumed that everyone would have the ostrich syndrome. If the information isn't there, there is no problem. If you didn't know that this is what they meant by "live" would you have had a problem?
i don't care if it's casted from replays or whatever. i'm just think that xeris has no problem being intentionally vague and letting people draw incorrect conclusions.
@defacer
actually considering that we're his customers he owes us absolutely everything

Uncalled for.

That's thinking highly low of him considering the topic is about clarification of any form of vagueness.
Can you please be less ironic .___.

then i think he should say "LIVE Games?: The games will NOT be cast live!"

The proper wording would be: LIVE Games? The games will be cast live and delayed before being broadcast.

Question for mods: Can I get banned for calling someone a dickhead?

Yes.
I'm no mod, but I'm a pretty good expert at reading rules: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=17883

Thanks for the thread. it brings up many questions what i haven't even thought before.
The quality of GSL's high quality paid stream is 650 kb/sec. Our free stream is going to be at 800 kb/sec, our paid stream will be 3 megabit / sec. We're offering much better stream quality than any other tournament can give you!
But sadly, i dont see your stream working without problems similar to GSLs. How are you going to work with this? Of course GSL has most likely a larger audience, but i doubt NASL's audience won't be much less. 3Mb/sec paid stream sounds ridicilously sick. And even the free stream is sounding really nice.
|
Question:
You say the free stream quality is 800kbp/s while the HQ paid one will be 3mbps.
Is this variable? If I don't have a connection to the server good enough to sustain that sort of speed, can I scale down my quality so as to have a smooth experience? Or will I be relegated to VODs?
Related issue - Will premium stream holders get priority on bandwidth?
|
Question: about he answer to the pro guy without a team not being able to get in.. dont you think you are discouraging teams from getting more players when you are limiting max 5 players ? arent you making it harder for people to get in top teams ?
|

Hi, I've answered this question before but I will repeat: we will be considering this issue internally and think of a solution that can also cater to people whose internet cannot handle the stream quality. Will update when we have a definitive answer to this!

Not going to answer any more questions about the max number of slots that we're giving to teams. If you have more than 5 players, choose 5 and have the other(s) play in the open tournament. Maybe we'll change it in the future, but this is how it will be for NASL Season 1.

Does that mean you are not using Justin.tv? Since they have a built in bandwidth changer.
