I am being provided by the tournment 3 days stay by hotel and am declaring that I will do whatever it is necessary to win - as to be be seen in the round of 64 I can promise you my white face - I will be as amusing as I can for all teamliquid and reddit users as I am here both to play but even more importantly I wish to entertain.
I arrive this Saturday at 4pm in Korea, who in Korea do I get in touch with and MUST I do before leaving Korea win or lose?
I am not on any competing team and I am only wishing to give my opponents some fury =]
I look like 95% Artosis and 5% IdrA you will see me ^^;

Love it, guys the entire community thus far in the last 3 hours of this being confirmed has been pouring my heart full of love. I wish only to impress all of you with some sick sick games.
edit:
So a lot has gone down I just wanted to clarify that I am infact white and am infact playing random so double KA-POW. Here is what i look like.
GOM is paying for your hotel over the qualifying days?
Also I'm just bronze so I can't really give you a tip. Though I can give you a tip from competitive fencing. Don't sweat a loss if you go down 0-1 or 1-1, or even if you fall back in a particular game. That is key to competition.

I appreciate the outlook as a fellow Canadian to another I will represent along HuK and others - hopefully to be ranked in future GOM events.
Wish everyone luck - we wish to make you all proud regardless of region for the proliferation of the game supersedes wins and losses.
You should find artosis at quals and hang around him and his video camera, make his videos a bit more lively. everyone he has interviewed in previous seasons had either been creepy or all serious bznz.
Well, if you're confident, don't rely on cheese and get ready to be cheesed on, as I heard it, in the qualifiers there's supposed to be a lot of cheesing going on, especially of normal people against pro's (as most think its their only choice of winning).
Eat a live octopus: I vowed to do this if I ever went to S.Korea.
Don't try any cheese/Proxy if you haven't practiced it. Man... It was just a casual tourney, but I lost the first round cause I was gonna hide a pylon in the smoke in Metalopolis (my 2nd pylon, derp derp) then he found it and killed it just before warpgates finished. Then I checked mine, but forgot to attack move my zealot into the smoke before I rallied him away and he spotted the probe but didn't kill it. He did exactly what I intended to do to him. I was so angry and frusterated.
Also, once you have an advantage don't squander it, in the loser brackets (Only 4 diamond players rofl) I had this guy. I had the game. I 4 warpgated his ramp and was sniping depots and a techlab and I had minimal losses, I saw him going for a fast banshee and dropped a forge and a cannon at my main and expo. Then I decided to go for a fast win with a couple of voidrays but he broke through the rocks with a death army of siegetanks/marauders. I was so angry at myself for losing. But enough venting.
Don't be nervous. Enjoy your time in Korea. Eat an Octopus.

GL in Korea. Only one advice to you during the prelim is scout early and thorough. I picked this up by watching the GSL chinese stream. They said that Loner was directed by his coach to scout early and hard thru out the whole qualifier rounds. Jinro didnt make it into R064 because of some cheesing and one base all in crazy stuff from the Korean, just so you know.
good luck man!!...remember to play each game like if it was the only one and stay confident no matter what...and enjoy your time there buddy!...def get with korean chicks, they awesome

I was low when I came to this same realization too. Starcraft is a delicate delicate dance, and just because you take the lead you're lover may be leading you off a cliff. And just because you become the Beta, does not mean you cannot consume the Alpha.
I guess another suggestion would be to buy a korean acct to get a better feel for their play style. Just a thought, since I always here how drastic their playstyle is.

Get a lucky group, avoiding the 20 or so monster players they have, that's the entire key.
I've watched a lot of GSL and most of what they say about Korea (at this point, anyway) is myth.
They are not very deep at talent at this point in time versus the rest of the world (which isn't a fair comparison based on population, I guess lol), and their style isn't that different, just possibly more aggressive very early game. Although styles everywhere seem to be changing fast, so hard to say at any point in time.
Some qualifiers to RO64 in the past two seasons have been terrible....so gl hf.

If you make it into the round of 64 research your opponent and find counter builds to what he practices and what you think he will likely do. Of course have a backup build or two in case he does something unexpected. Practice hard, play well, and have fun. Good luck!
Hey Carefoot I love your stream. If you get matched against Foxer or Nada or someone and you feel like the game is lost, you should try to do something awesome like mass infestor or neural parasite a probe into making a nexus.
Please keep a video blog of your adventures in Korea or make sure Artosis films you during the qualifiers.
Everyone should read the Reddit thread. His answers are hilarious. Apparently he decided he wanted to go to the GSL while shaving his balls in his bathtub.
Kidding. If it's your first LAN, you're gonna be nervous and nothing is going to change that. The best thing you can do is be as comfortable as possible. Wear your favorite shirt, have a nice breakfast, and take a few deep breaths. Good luck, we'll all be cheering for you.
Hey, I read TL regularly but can't play SC2 because of Blizzard ID problems living in Korea. However, I made this account just to say that if you need a place to stay, my roommate just moved out, and I live right in the middle of Seoul. Did GOM provide any Korean ladder account for you? I am sure the style between NA and Kor are different. Or you can practice in PC bang! I think they will provide account.

yup I'm pretty sure Idra has said he will be doing GSL qualifiers then going to DreamHack
personally, I would focus 100% on GSL3 if I qualified, but I guess Idra considers adding DreamHack to his schedule to be more +EV than focusing only on GSL3. he could also just be satisfied that he probably has secured S rank for GSL 2011, but I doubt he's willing to just settle for a S rank.

This is an incredibly horrible suggestion. Octopodes are extremely intelligent animals, frequently more so than, for instance, dogs. They have highly developed nervous systems. They feel pain. How would you feel if someone tore your limbs off one at a time to get a laugh out of it?

I'm not that good at SC2, but as someone who's been into competitive environments thanks to some amateur sports here's all I can say:
Stick to what you've practiced. Don't try to do anything you aren't confident you can pull off well; stick to your guns. If you find yourself in an 0-1 hole or something, try to keep yourself focused. Take things on a game-to-game basis. I know it's hard to not let emotions affect you, but just find time to clear your head in between games.

Not quite sure what they mean by 종족 (google translate = "tribe"), but everything else is straight forward.

Cheers!

Wait so do you live in South Korea right now, or did you just fly there?
Do well! Represent the foreign world! (Even if it is "cheesing" lol).
Haha I just began to ponder how strong a 6 pool is as a randomer. Or any kind of cheese in general.
This encapsulates how I will play, I plan on being volatile and in that window of unpredictability I will attempt my hardest to bring the pain =]
I'm flying there and I'm buying a place that's close =]
I may stay long depending how comfortable I am to train for upcoming GSLs.

I arrive this Saturday at 4pm in Korea, who in Korea do I get in touch with and MUST I do before leaving Korea win or lose?
I am not on any competing team and I am only wishing to give my opponents some fury =]
I look like 95% Artosis and 5% IdrA you will see me ^^;
Good to hear you will be attending the final. However, we provide hotel stay only during prelim. Also I will reserve a front seat for you for the final. If you have a guest coming with you let me know.
Cheers
