There just seems like no reason for the vod being late except MLG's premium service which helps to make stog better (wait wat?).
(I don't really care, i listen to the MP3 mostly and also don't die if i miss an enitre sotg). No, the reason VoDs were up faster before MLG was because JP lived in a different time zone (I think he lived on West Coast) and was able to stay up ALL night uploading the VoD personally every week. Now, MLG handles the upload of the VoD as it's a part of the MLG.tv service. MLG offices are in New York. They are a professional organization and work normal business hours. SotG ends after 1am on Friday morning. There is no one in the office that can upload the VoD. It is now 8:30am on the East Coast. The first sets of workers on the East Coast are getting to offices. Unsure when office hours for MLG NY. JP said this on his Twitter: "http://sotg-sc2.blogspot.com/2011/11/sotg-ep56.html @StateOfTheGame has been up for awhile, didn't tweet about it... no VOD yet, should be up when NYC gets in office" People complaining that the VoDs have not gone up within 7-8 hours of the show ending are being wholly unreasonable. If you haven't seen VoDs by the end of the day today, then, sure, it's not reasonable for it to be up that late. However, JP personally has asked for patience as it is the very fact that MLG has invested in this TV service that he has his full time position with them doing these sorts of things. Acting so entitled and demanding that a VoD be thrown up in the middle of the night by a professional company is completely unreasonable. If you were in the same position and your boss told you you had to come in at 2am on every Friday morning to upload a VoD so that Europeans won't pirate your talent's show, you'd be completely angry. Just be patient. Go do something else for a few hours. Check back later after US business hours.
How will people get what they want unless they ask for it?
Anyway if there's really enough demand, MLG can find a way to upload this stuff earlier. They can definitely find a way to upload a VOD without someone sitting there babysitting the process but they'd only do so if there was demand.

Has yesterdays episode been pirated yet? Couldn't find anything.
EDIT: Sry nvm found it.

Oh my fucking gosh. Once again JP raises the European hopes high, then dashes them against the cold marble floor.

This definitely.
Can't believe people feel people running the show should just do work through the night to have the VOD for when you wake up, like your need to sleep doesn't apply to people who are willing to put in the time and effort to give you such good content.
Do you guys even listen when Tyler keeps mentioning that there's a right and wrong time to ask for autographs. There's also a right and wrong time to expect work from people. Do people also complain that Day9 doesn't do a daily every day of the week? Or that GSL take these amazing things off called "weekends"? If you're complaining about a 7-8 hour delay, or even anything near that ballpark, you're crazy.
Crazy I tell you.

If by pirating you mean people uploading it, well thats just the nature of things that don't come out immediatly, I'm actually amazed that it took so long till sotg started to get pirated. If you mean people watching it on other sites/downloading it before it's up on mlg, well that's quiet simpel people want to watch this asap, no one from europe can watch live without seriously fucking with their sleeping schedule, so it's pretty much natural to take a chance to watch it when you want to watch it. There is so much stuff around these days that most people probably won't watch after a certain time because there is already other new stuff coming up. I just came home from school and now I'm kinda chilling, I can watch sotg so that's what I do because I really enjoy watching this show, chances are that, let's say I could watch it on mlg tomorrow I'd probably just not do that. And I'm not even talking shit to mlg here or anything, just explain why I am watching the pirated version at the moment, I do want to see this and right now is the point of time where I want to watch it and I'm sure it's the same way for many europeans/people who couldn't watch it live as well.

If pirates can make content available earlier, then you're doing it wrong.

Good to see TheGunRun getting some props. He is awesome!

This is possibly the worst excuse I can see for justifying the pirating. What, people can't wait a single day for the VODs? Crazy idea...have some patience.
I'm from Europe as well, and I totally understand that these things take time to get up. Just because a group of people are up at 3am recording and uploading doesn't mean that they're doing something wrong...people need to sleep. Day9 dailies get delayed as well, as do VODs for tournaments...people deal with it. So why the hell can't SotG watchers?

Sad that they skimmed over the ppsl incident. its fair enough not to comment on something when you don't know anything about it, or have no evidence, but there is tonnes of evidence of the atrocities that came to pass. look at YoonYJ's compilation of Facebook messages for instance and the personal accounts of not just 1 but many staff of the ppsl that have come out of the woodwork.
I hope this doesn't become a habit for the sotg guys. hate to see them turn soft.

I have one sugestion to make: Reduce the volume of the audio when you guys are taking a break. As it is right now is 4x louder than when you are talking.

They skimmed over ppsl incident because they didn't follow this. imho JP as a host should've summarized all of the current evidences and thoughts and then they could give some opinion because I can see why someone like Idra, Artosis od Tyler wouldn't follow every page of every topic on this forum. I mean, they knew there was some drama there but they have more important things to do than to follow that shit.

Just a stupid question, i have really like 0 clue about recording vods and all that:
Afaik on twitch and other services it autouploads the vod after you made it? Whiteout you having any special work.
MLG just can't do this yet or why isn't it done? I mean.. I really don't know how exactly it works, but i don't believe "uploading a vod" is "work". Shouldn't it more be like: 1: "Press record while doing the show" 2: "Prerss upload when finisshed" (or this is happening while the show is going on.
Which part of the extremly complicated process of uploading a vod do i have wrong?
|
i really don't understand how they are able to upload 30+ hours of vod (tournament) in notime, but they CAN*T upload 1,5 hour sotg in 5days?

We got to know that IPL was involved, and had put out an apology. We also got to know that we shouldnt think that the community there is scumbags, but love the game and is great.
Then we went over to how great the next MLG will be. The really only added to the confusion by talking about it.

I think video encoding is what consumes resources.

I'm not justifying I'm explaining why I do use the pirated version. I can wait and I have waited before, but if you give me the option to watch it sooner, and that fits my time management better, than I will not wait till mlg has it up. Of course you do support SOTG by watching on mlg and I do love mlg and I did support them a shit lot, even way before sc2 was even out. Some people need to realize that MLG wants views on their site, it's not like you have to pay/get a membership to watch this, it's just about the views. If you watched this on blip/twitch you were not different, those sites didn't do shit for mlg either. As I said I'm not blaming mlg here, I do know that this does take time (unless they do a similiar instant system that blip/twitch uses).
But oh well at the end of the day this all comes down to people who just want to watch something entertaining at a certain point in time and use the chance to do so, and people who think pirating this makes mlg/sotg cast loose a shit lot of money, I guess the biggest issue is just people viewing pirating as something terribly evil. Just because I do watch this one right now pirated does not mean, in any regard, that I do not support mlg with a) future episodes (maybe even this one) or b) other things. No one involved with SOTG heavily relies on this getting a shit lot of views on this, no one is paying to watch this on mlg, and I'm not justifying the people uploading this on their own here or pirating in general (which in a general sense is way different from what happens with sotg here), but if I get a chance to watch this at a point in time that I think is the point where I do take the time to watch this, and that means that I don't use mlg.tv for this, than I will do it. Now shit on me for that bro, again I'm not hating mlg for how long it takes them to upload, I'm not justifying or giving excuse for the people who take mlg's video property and spread it accross the internet without their permission, I'm just saying why I, at this point in time, am not willing to wait till tomorrow or sunday or whenever it's up to watch, I want to watch this now and unless mlg starts charging to watch this I will use this chance.

Okay, so I got to the part about PPSL (ie. the first part), and I can't listen to this anymore. How can they talk about something like this and give their opinions ("don't grab the pitchforks") when they clearly haven't got a clue about the whole thing? And it's not like it's a hard thing to have a clue about, you basically just have to read a couple of posts.
Pretty shoddy.

Well, it's not about MLG so...
