I donno, one might want to listen to the guys with 10+ years of sc pro gaming experience instead getting all offended because someone didn't use enough cute words.
Select probably doesn't give a fuck about how it is said. He will probably just take the advise given him, and mix up his play. So I don't understand why you people care or get offended for somebody else you don't even know, doesn't care or need you to defend him.
The bit about not having good Zerg practice partners is bullshit though. How often haven't we seen both Jaedong and Flash thank their team mates for practise while none of those players are anything near the same level as either Flash or Jaedong? Some practice is better that none. Select had both Sen and Machine willing to practice. He either didn't think it was that important and focused on tvt and pvt... or that he just thought he was too good for them.

I suppose if you can't find anyone good enough to practice with, you could always use Boxer's Team melee method

PS. did you delete your Twitter because of the podcast? I am sad to see it go, are you looking to make an official SOTG one instead? Yay, JP made a new twitter, and one for SOTG (@itmejp and @stateofthegame, respectively)
Thanks for posting the Twitter links!

Thanks for the minicasts JP, I was out of town this weekend so I missed almost all of MLG, the minicasts helped me get a quick idea of how it went.
|
the 2 minicast and the live event on sunday was some of the funniest shit i've ever heard, i hope you will do stuff like that to all the big events like MLG, IEM, WCG and Blizzcon
|
Listened for the first time to the one after MLG... pretty good and entertaining podcast except for the one guy who kept piping up about how events are run without actually any knowledge of running an event.
|
I too enjoyed the mini-cast a whole bunch. I'm not sure how easy it was to get everyone together, but having players & casters discuss the tournament is an amazing supplement to actually watching the tournament.
10/10 would listen again.
|
When is the full cast coming? Thought it would be out today.
|
was the show with djwheat, idra etc the State of the game podcast or will there be another 'real' sotg coming up today/tomorrow?
|
What were the settings that, I believe it was Day9 who said it, TLO uses that make invisible units nearly full visible? I had that written down somewhere and now can't find the part in the cast.
|
Shout outs to the CSL/Collegiate Star League which is starting this week?

Here's a pic I snapped during the middle of the 10-16 podcast. I have to echo Josh's earlier sentiment; being in the same room with all these fantastic players in a very relaxed setting just seeing how they interact was incredible.
+ Show Spoiler +From left to right; djwheat on the ground, slasher standing, sorry I forget, Huk in hoodie, back of Tyler's head on the ground, JP on the laptop, incontrol, and idra. The microphone is blocked by inc's head but it's right on the chair, that's why Tyler and Inc sound so loud.
Edit - might want to right-click -> view image depending on your browser to see the whole pic.

Keep on rocking out, SotG cast. These things are great.
I do feel the need to add that a lot of people on here are entirely too touchy about things said on the casts. Part of the reason these casts are so entertaining is that these guys are speaking mostly unfiltered. Would it really be as good if inControl didn't speak his mind?
And bear in mind, this is coming from a guy who personally likes SelecT.
|
I think it's implied that players need to change their builds to stay ahead of the curve. instead of criticizing SeleCT about him needing to change his build he should really be telling Tyler and HuK they need to change theirs to counter SeleCT's build. just thought that there was a lack of respect for the guy( even though his match against IdrA was extremely disappointing). They were talking about how great PainUser did in the Losers bracket yet they gave little credit to SeleCT's run. I like inControL and everyone on the SotG and hope they keep doing what they are doing looking forward to the next cast!

I think he did beat SLush at MLG which means his TvZ can't be horrible right? Definitely his weakest match up as revealed in the MLG DC finals but there could be other factors that came in to play like the fact that IdrA is amazing or that he played 20+ games that day already. hopefully he finds a zerg worthy of practicing with him.
|
instead of spending so much time bashing select's "one dimensional" play, they should have stuck their heads together and tried to brainstorm ideas to beat it as protoss especially. select's list of accomplishments completely outshines incontrol's thus far.
and i don't know how fair it is to judge select's tvz against based on his matchup against idra. idra is clearly the top foreigner in the world and has been for quite some time. furthermore, select was just finishing up a pretty grueling schedule that didn't pit him against much Zs.
|
Feel all the Select dissing is bullshit. His TvP is pretty standard, just better than most in multi-tasking and attacking on multiple fronts. I believe Select prob knows he needs to buff his TvZ(and I can't comment on the reason for turning down machine), but I feel the cast was taking away A LOT from Select, he really is awesome player.
Anyway other than that, the cast was pretty fun

it infuriates me so thoroughly that people like klamity are common enough to pop up with completely retarded posts like the one above.
Why the FUCK do I need to accomplish more than Select to say on a podcast that he did 1 build in a bunch of TvP's and it won't carry him forever? It was fucking common sense but obviously it was worth noting that a player who did EXTREMELY WELL did so in a mu where he did the same thing over and over... obviously it is MY JOB to say more than "well he did fantastic. And I am in no position to say anything otherwise because he has done more than I have in terms of results in SC2."
It gets REAL OLD being on a podcast I do for fun (no compensation, no obligation etc) and catching shit from people who literally cannot pull their own head from their own ass.
In the future, I might even fucking criticize fruitdealer. I've already teased IdrA. I call NonY a robot and he has "done more than" me as well. Can we fucking PLEASE stop pretending that in order to discuss players on a talk show in a less than glaringly positive fashion we must be better than them? Nobody tells Bob Costas to shut the fuck up even though he has NEVER PLAYED ANY OF THESE SPORTS. Nobody dials into a local radio show when they are bitching about Seahawk management and goes "YOU'VE NEVER MANAGED A NFL TEAM SHUT THE FUCK UP."
So why is it in eSports when I make a pretty god damn obvious remark and criticism like "hey, playing 1 build in a mu won't get you much further.. people will adapt" becomes some giant flame from an inferior player? Here's a hint: It doesn't make sense and some of you need to shut the fuck up or not listen to the podcast. I am going to make jokes with my friends. I am going to criticize players and we are going to discuss it. I am going to PRAISE players and commend them for changing their ways (Huk-> hoodie during interview) and I am going to call a spade a spade (mothership in semifinal). I will do so with or without the comments in this thread but it would make my conscience a little clearer if I knew I wasn't becoming villain.
Listen to the podcast if you enjoy funny banter mixed with criticism and critical discussion by pro's and amateurs. If you want to start interjecting serious generalizations and huge sweeping judgments from YOUR PERSPECTIVE (which btw, has of yet, been 100% from people that are not involved in any way shape or form save for listening to the podcast) you might want to look elsewhere because that makes about as much sense as heckling a comedian in his comedy club for making a joke about anything that isn't 100% PC.
The above post is not directed to everyone btw. Just the idiots. So if you are an idiot this post was directed to you.
have a nice day
