I beat brutal campaign before i even started laddering, and i haven't played brood war. Totally doable, just learn from your own mistakes and be ready to play a map more than once lol.

Watch VoDs, concentrate on it one mission at a time, dont try to rush through them in one day or anything

When I started the campaign at release I did not dare going brutal. After seeing this thread I attempted a few levels on brutal and am now surprised at how easy is actually is (at least the levels I have attempted up and till now.) Also, I am not the worlds best SC player, in fact I am much closer to the opposite of that.

I was able to do Brutal (I'm Bronze 1v1). For me it was pretty hard but I was able to do it by saving often during each mission.

I beat the brutal campaign when I was in bronze. I played WC3 so I might be cheating a bit though. It took me about a month or two to complete even with a video guide.

Broodwar offered some missions that were more difficult than anything SCII brutal throws at you in my experience. It's only hard in the fact that you're going to die from time to time and trial and error is going to be necessary if you're not following walk-throughs. In Utter Darkness was the only level that ever really tripped me up, and even it became easy once I figured things out.

There's some tricks and gimmicks dealing with individual mission mechanics and AI that become vital on hardcore and levels can become frustrating until you find them.

A little patience, macro, and generous saving should carry you through.

You won't get them that way. The game activates achievements as they happen, it doesn't backtrack to see what you've done.

I concur. This strategy is unstoppable, assuming you can get a few of each. It's harder to do that on some levels than others, but wow.

As stated above, M&M win most of the encounters. Also, the key phrase to 90% of the missions is "critical mass" Most of the time you can turtle up and build whatever pertinent unit you need for that missions. Once you hit critical mass, roll out and decimate everything.

Also save you game often, especially on longer missions or ones you find challenging. Being able to go back 5, 10, 15minutes helps a lot. This is especially true on the final mission.

Last protoss level for begginers might be hard. I took me 3 tries first time i played and i was diamond back then :D.

Planetary fortresses are OP in multiplayer, and are laughably good in the campaign.

Put a single one at chokes and some 2x repair speed SCV and nothing can pass it =/
