Hello TL,
I'm not totally beginner as i am Plat 1v1 and RT/AT too but i'v got a lot of online experience on other games but as for campaigns it is my first campaign on a RTS so i think i might lack "something" to beat brutal campaign (i only won Normal campaign, that's it)
So in the end my question is : with a good "guide" or youtube videos explaining how to beat each mission, do you think it is possible for a player like me to beat brutal ? (i did the 5 first missions on my own and i'm aldready struggling lol)
i'll do whatever it takes to get the Brutal ICON :d
Thanks !
(apologises for my english)

why use a guide when you are more than capable of doing it all on your own? :/ Some levels might be a little tricky but you'll learn to plug your pve holes along the way D:

Brutal isn't that hard to do. Like they say "Medics and marines" can win most of the missions. If you're platinum you should be able to do it. At the time i did it i was only gold 1v1. Just some encouragement to say brutal is doable at your skill level. Good luck. Sorry don't know any good guides for campaign.
|
Yeah, brutal is totally doable with just massing medic/marine every level. There's a couple of hard levels: + Show Spoiler +The odin level, becuase tychus is a moron, and the taldarim gas level, I just killed everything on that level, rather than bother with doing it "normally"
but I'm only gold, and not very good at that, and I managed it on brutal.
Last level tip here: + Show Spoiler +Go for air on the last level, get the zerg control tower thing, and it's a piece of cake.
|
I would say that go for ground for the last mission. It's really much easier. Just build tanks and slow towers then go eat your dinner while the timer runs out.
To the op, it's completely doable. On of the hardest missions will be the protoss last one etc but it's managable.
|
Nah, last protoss mission is easy. You know how zerg were complaining about voidray colossus awhile back? Imagine what it would be like if you also got pre-nerf void rays! XD
|
haha ok, well thanks everybody, you just gave me motivation !
|
Yea I beat the last protoss mission with mass voidrays in the end 3 3 3 upgrades. So much dps on those when they fully charge up. Even got all the achievements.
With the Odin mission I completely dismissed Wraiths and massed up Banshees + Vikings and it was quite easy.

There are several ways to do every mission honestly. I found that it's usually easiest with medic/marine a lot of the time just because the missions usually want you go quickly in general. The missions I had trouble with were The Laser Drill (but maybe that's because I didn't get enough tanks lol), The Odin Mission (ended up going Battlecruiser/Sci Vessel because I did it later than most), and All-in on ground. The last protoss mission you can do fancy things like DT walls, but I found it was much much easier and less frustrating to go voidray/colossus.
The main thing about All-in on ground is your starting positions suck so you have to pull way back.
Go for it! TL believes in you!

with so much faith in me i can only succeed ! thanks a lot

The Laser mission was actually quite easy. Just target everything with the laser and in the downtime fire at the door. It takes time but your tanks can pretty much take a coffee break.
Also np ^^ ask if some mission is hard.

In most missions you'll want to balance between a strong bioball and lots of tanks. The zerg haven mission (where you get the protoss research) can be beaten with straight up vikings, and the great train robbery is so easy if you have a ball of tanks sieging the trains.
Either air or ground on the last level is perfectly doable, just make sure you're prepared before deciding which one you're going for (whether you get hive mind emulator or the slow tower will dictate what you choose, and be sure to have full upgrades on your core units and on ALL your base structures).

I believe Zai (on Psystarcraft's channel) did a complete walkthrough on how he beat brutal campaign. Look there if you're stuck.
Overall I think a plat player should have enough competence on his own to beat campaign, probably need to utilize a few tricks and stuff here and there though.
Protoss last level isn't that hard. I made an additional robo, upgrade, saturate workers, get nothing but colossi, mass cannons to sink minerals. Got all achievements on brutal too. If you can't get the achievement on brutal u can do it on hard. Simply beating the mission should be easy though.
|
lots of save points...lots of marines...lots of bunkers... i wouldn't use medics... they take up ground space... the hardest mission for me was definitely the great train robbery. that one took a lot of saves.
|
i remember when walkthroughs didnt exist. you were the only capable of pass every game. good luck ^ ^

Check out the videos of people doing NUR Brutal (no upgrade runs) and copy their strategies. If they can do it with no upgrades, then it can surely be done with upgrades.
I'd say the hardest couple levels are:
The Odin level (tychus is dumb, and the ai target fires your repairing scvs) The burning planet/banshee level (it's hard to take them in a straight up fight) The last protoss level, in utter darkness (it's just hard, you need to be on top of all the entrances)
|
On the last level you can take nydus and then use upgraded banshees+banshee mercs to just eliminate every nydus instantly. Build up bunkers+Tanks and you won't even lose anything other than to Kerrigan dropping by. I've done it without using the artifact at brutal.

The guns n roses mission (harvest gas) was the hardest for me because I never understood that its bad to harvest from multiple gas at once. I figured it would be easier the faster you do it. But they hit you with so much more if you harvest more than one. Once i figured that out it was pretty easy.
