Now, what I need are exercises to work out my left leg in ways that will at least keep it at least slightly conditioned until i can walk again. I want to get back into martial arts as soon as possible after im healed, and i figure having a stick of a left leg wouldnt help that. keep in mind: i cant do anything that involves really fast movement. I cant put any weight on my left foot, basically i cant stand on it at all. i cant move my ankle because it is in a cast. thanks for any help!

I wanna break a 5 minute mile as well as 11 minute 1.5 mile(navy seal standard ![]() I guess i'll also start adding numbers for exercises i throw down starting today, maybe u can suggest some weight goals i should be aiming at(i never penis measured my lifts so i don't know what's good or not). I weight 170 pounds. Squat 205 pounds x5 Stiff legged Dead lift 185 x6 Leg press 270x5 Not doing singles. Finding a spotter is always a pain. 4x600m intervals. Pace first 400m fast but uncomfortable, then all out the last 200m. 7 minutes of rest between each -- reduce as you improve. I've had friends who got down to 5 minute miles just running 400m intervals and lifting heavy weights. On November 01 2009 04:12 Patriot.dlk wrote: I'm looking for more exercise for my upper back. I would appreciate comments towards this video: + Show Spoiler + Especially interested in opinions on his form and experiences with these exercises. Better alternatives or whatnot. I currently do: Standard dumbbell rows and Pulldowns. Any type of rowing is fine except for upright rows. If you're lagging behind you should add at least 2 types of rowing. And replace the pulldowns with pullups. On November 01 2009 08:07 Fontong wrote: So i thought i would consult teamliquid's fitness buffs on my following problem. About a month ago, i fractured my 5th left metatarsal. Basically, I broke my foot and ill be on crutches for 3-4 month. The doctor put on a short leg cast, so from like 6 inches below the knee is covered. As expected, my left leg has massively atrophied, especially since i have disproportionally large legs and espcially calves for my size. Is it possible to biking on it if you just use your heel to push the pedal? Walking up steps (on the heel), leg extensions possible with weight. Basically you want to exercise the quads/hamstrings and it can help.

And they have their workout just doing curls and bench.

If that's all you're after which is good enough for most athletes that's cool. Otherwise, if you are actually interested in learning technical details and both lifts you really do need a coach. Otherwise, your best bet is to grab one of the books on it. Currently there's 3 good ones out there.. (you can read reviews on amazon I guess).. Arthur Dreschler’s Encyclopedia of Weighlifting Tommy Kono’s Weightlifting Olympic Style Greg Everett's Olympic Weightlifting: A Complete Guide for Athletes If I was recommending one it'd probably be Greg's book because I've actually met him and been taught Oly at a seminar by him. Definitely knows his stuff.

Here is the video part( http://www.performancemenu.com/exercises/index.php) I didn't really use much resources from the internet. I learned from a coach and other lifters. I watched a lot of youtube videos on olympic lifters. A lot of them have different form though... Today i front squated 130kg for a single and then failed twice on 135kg. Even though I was suppose to do 3 sets of 120kg doubles.....I kept messing up on 75kg snatch too. >_____< I hyperextend too much.

Some people have the type of shoulders where they injure very easily with upright rows, and behind the neck pullups, etc. which put the shoulder in a vulnerable position at the edge of its range of motion. If they feel fine to you I would say do them... but honestly why do them when there's other good exercises that don't potentially have the same injury potential?
