i checked the last few pages and didn't see any more post of yours...
could you detail what you done to achieve this?

I think there's either something wrong with me or my scale.
Three days ago I weighed myself and noticed that I had gained 5 lbs within a day. Next day I noticed I had lost 6 lbs. Yesterday I gained the 6 lbs. back, and now I lost that plus another pound.
I always make sure to weigh myself without any clothes and always make sure that I'm not doing anything that would cause my weight to be lower...so am I just gaining and losing weight at a really odd rate...or is there something wrong with my scale?

Age: 24 Height: 6'2'' Current Weight: 67kg / 148lbs Goal Weight: [significant appearance alteration] Starting Date: 8/2/9 Goal Date: [unknown]
Details: I was around 75kg a few months ago and decided to diet in preparation for a work-out turn-around (get rid of the beer-belly by way of fasting). Now I'm ~67kg and have already started, with:
Dumbell: lifts ~100-300 reps whilst lying on bed in sets of 50-100. Already "moved up" from the 0.5kg to 1kg weights.
Situps: ~200 in sets of 50-100.
Exercise bike: Go for about 8 minutes, at which point I start to breath heavily. Have it on lowest setting possible, because my legs ache too much within 5 minutes that I'm barely able to go any longer.
Drinking and smoking: Quit them both as much as I've been able to thus far, drinking once every 3 weeks (and smoking only during this evening) for several months. Can get through a day on 5x pieces of 2mg nicotine gum.
Food: I have no money. Trying to eat as much as possible whilst avoiding sugar foods. Not very organised person at all though. Got 500g protein milkshake which I enjoy.
My questions and your comments!!!
1. Battered sausage and chips is fine for me ya?
2. I don't appear to be "aching" very much "the following day", even though I'm doing these various exercises to the point of ache/absolute endurance each set or session - although I do seem to "recover" quickly after a set and then go on to do more. Note that I'm doing many reps because I want bulk/muscular bulk.
3. I want to basically achieve what SteelString done, except imagine a skinner and bonier and slightly deformed starting photo.
4. Sometimes I feel like I'm eating TOO much compared to the amount of effective exercise I'm doing - and I probably am. I slacked off the last few days, hence I'm motivated to actually write this here. At first my stomach felt quite tight, but now it just feels inflated and I don't feel like I'm "channelling" the food input correctly - it is making my stomach fat and nothing else.
5. I do not do press-ups (or any other exercise except long pure-walking days at work). Instead of pressups I just do dumbell lifts lying on bed.
Thanks a lot

I think it's quite normal to daily gain and lose 4kg depending on [time of day] and other factors. If 4kg is 9lbs then what you're experiencing is totally normal lol. You should weight yourself weekly - it's pointless otherwise

you should always weigh yourself in the morning, your weight will fluctuate depending on what you eat during the day.

One of my goals is by the time I graduate university in 16 months is to compete in a sprint triathalon. 1/2-3/4mile swim, 12-13mile bike, 2.5-3.5mile run (varies on the course).

1. Uh, avoid fried foods it at all possible along with most processed foods... meat, fish, nuts, fruits and vegetables are generally what you should be eating.
2. Soreness is NOT related to progress and does not indicate a good workout.
If you want muscle/bulk you have to LIFT HEAVY. Do Starting Strength IMO.
http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/Starting_Strength_Wiki
3. Yeah... need to lift heavy.. and eat.
4. You are. Diet is a SIGNIFICANT part of gaining/losing fat and/or muscle mass. Lifting heavy will be the stimulus to put on muscle. Diet to help you lean out.
5. Yeah, those won't help you much...

Just a quick question to consider.. is it normal for everyone to take the before picture with normal posture and the after picture trying to show off muscles? Because that's a huge difference for some (like for skinny me). We should set some clear rules regarding this issue! :p

I don't know why but after a month, I'll seem to lose my motivation. After looking through the threads, I have found that motivation again. :D

1.) are you weighing yourself with your clothes off? 2.) are you weighing yourself at the same time each day?

when it comes to running im similar. i really don't know what the problem is, I just can't run for very long. my side starts to kill me quickly and i feel like im dying.
whereas i can ride a bike uphill for an hour
i know i know i could probably get better running if i just did it more, which im trying to... but the gains seem to be very slow and very unfun lol

On February 06 2009 09:29 Bockit wrote:So I'm actually leaving a day earlier than planned for my holiday, I guess today has become the deadline for my goal. I weighed in today at 88.5kg giving me a 7.5kg loss since december 16th. I didn't make my goal of 85, which is a bit disappointing, though due to its arbitrariness I'm not so fussed. I and many of my friends have noticed a difference in how I look and I need to buy a lot of new clothes, especially pants (Belt needs a new notch too). Running wise, I can almost run the entire track (I do about 4.6km out of 5.1km now) the only bit I don't run is a 50m~ break where I have to cross a creek and go down some steep stairs, so it's not particularly safe to run that, and then a massive, massive hill/stair section which takes up the other 450-500m. I'm also consistently achieving 33:00-33:40 run times so that's coming along nicely too. I turned my ankle twice last night playing squash, means I'll probably have to stick to swimming while on holiday (Oh noes ), when I get back I guess it's time to set the next goal. So in the end, I didn't reach my goal but I'm still really happy with how it has turned out. EDIT: I'm organising some before/after shots
Nice man. I still don't want to buy nice clothes yet since I'm still trying to lose a lot more weight. Lol. :p

That pain you describe is caused by wrong breathing technique, that used to happen a lot to me but after my mom whom is an excellent runner (she ran Marathons) taught me how to breath that pain dissapeared :D
