KDB is the hub through which a lot passes, so if he’s having a bad game the whole team suffers for it, and he wasn’t playing well.
There are players who decide game through flow, and there’s players who decide games through moments.
Xavi and Iniesta are the archetypal ‘flow’ players, they’re on the pitch to control a game, and a goal or a nifty assist are a bonus. KDB is more incisive in individual contributions than those guys, but he’s absolutely the main cog in the overall City machine.
Players have sub-par games, it happens.
If KDB was bossing the game and Pep took him off to preserve him for future games, and it backfired as we saw, yeah blame Pep for counting his chickens.
He wasn’t, it was one of his worst games I’ve seen in a while.
Pep has made some spectacular blunders in team selection in the CL with both Bayern and City, I don’t think he did a huge amount wrong here. City were the better side across the two legs and didn’t get it over the line

United have some quality in their u18s. They won 3-1 last night, although I thought Forest more than held their own (they probably had the better of the game, but a bad penalty decision decided the game late on). United played really well when they had the ball on the floor in the Forest's third of the pitch. They showed some excellent short passing and flowing moves. It was weird seeing Old Trafford so full for an u18s game. It was probably noisier than most Premier League games there this season tbh.

Pretty reliable sources say Frenkie De Jong goes to ManU for 70-80 million euros. As far as I can tell, he's a decent building block for the next 5-7 years and Ten Hag probably knows him well enough to make good use of him.
I'm a bit curious on how big of a budget Ten Hag is getting. 80ish million is quite a lot of money on one player when you probably want an upgrade on multiple positions. I guess this may suggest that they're trying to make Ronaldo stay to avoid further investment on that area. Or maybe it suggests that Ronaldo is now out of the door and his salary is available for other investments.

I suppose he is one of their more valuable assets and they aren’t going to sell Gabi/Pedri
At that price, fantastic signing. He’s still only 25 and one of the most talented midfielders of his generation. Ten Haag has worked with him before and crucially him and Van der Beek had a great understanding, so if it clicks you’ll see value from a player already on the books.
Midfield hasn’t been too hot an area for United, if they can get that functioning there could be a big improvement quite quickly.
There’s a lot of ifs here, I don’t think United need a huge investment if the coach can get the best out of the existing squad.
Sancho’s shown glimpses, I think we’ll see a lot more from him in a more structurally functional team. Rashford can’t surely be as off the boil next season. If Ronaldo stays and keeps up this level of goal scoring. Bruno has dropped off a cliff compared to his previous standards
Maguire’s looked better in his absence, how badly the team defend without him indicates that maybe it’s a collective problem with that defence.

In some sense upgrading the midfield and finding stability there could be the way to get the best out of Maguire too. The more stable the system above him on the pitch is, the more he can play to his strengths and the less he needs to go to that mobile reactionary stuff that doesn't suit a lumbering giant that much.
I guess finding him a transfer is one option too, but I don't know who would want him. He doesn't fit many top contenders in terms of his play style and his salary is probably scaring away a lot of teams that could be better fit style wise. Maybe there are some more options available if Utd keep paying part of the salary.

United fans are gonna be so annoyed when they actually do sell Maguire and realise that he wasn't the cause of all their problems after all. Never get rid of the scapegoat.

Tends to happen with a move though. I wouldn’t be blown away if Chelsea went for him given their centre back exodus, as well as Silva being another year older, or Spurs where I think Conte’s system would really suit him.

Lingard at West Ham was a prime example of a much maligned player finding themselves at a new place. With that being said I'd still rather keep Maguire, he's a good footballer and a lot of the blame he gets shouldn't be directed at him personally. It feels like ManU hasn't had a coherent defensive structure since Solskjaer's first full season.

I don't know man, watched some of his "best of's" on video, he is nowhere near top class for this price tag. And also, he is fkin 29 now, my bet is that his best days are over already.

This NLD is going to be so stressful. I think we can win, but it's going to be tough

Of course if Spurs get ahead one way or the other, that's bad news.

Haha, why on earth starting holding over white. Then holding gets sent off rightfully so and Arteta waits 10 minutes to bring on white.....meanwhile they go 2-0 down and game over haha
