Following an exhaustive consultation with stakeholders in the game, the UEFA Executive Committee has today in Vienna approved the final format and access list for European club competitions as of the 2024/25 season further to its decision of 19 April 2021 to introduce the so-called “Swiss system”. The key amendments relate to the reduction from 10 matches to 8 in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League and the change of criteria for the allocation of two of the four additional places in the UEFA Champions League, removing access based on club coefficient. This confirms UEFA’s strong commitment to the principle of open competitions and sporting merit, while recognising the need to protect domestic leagues. UEFA website

Also yeah FIFA wanted to double the rights to EA and EA said no and now this has happened xD Norwegian papers are saying his salary will match DeBruyne's salary, £375k per week. The only question mark regarding him is his injury record. If he stays fit, he's a top 2 striker for the next decade, I'm inclined to go with #1 tbh

Owen is prime example of this, starts at 16 playing 40 game a week, by time he gets his move to Real Madrid his body is broken. Hamstrings are shot and his career comes to a stop for what should have been one of best strikers of his generation.

Being a regular starter for a top team these days isn’t quite what it used to be, rotation eases the load and coaching teams are more sensible in forcing players to play through injury, indeed I think the culture has shifted a little in general in that sense. Players will be more confident in not playing through injury with what a breakdown could mean with their career. There will always be a few through chronic injury, or serious one-time injuries, but hopefully we’ll see less talents falling by the wayside in this generation. Even though he was the starlet for my bitter Milanese rival, still felt it pity that such a talent like Pato was done before he hit his stride

Apparently they've sold 60,000+ tickets, which is completely mental for an u18s match. was in the 50k last week i think. happy for the finalists on both teams. can you imagine the thrill of being only teenagers playing in a nearly packed old trafford? what an experience.

Any thoughts on the new CL format? More games, more money seems to be the general idea behind it. I like that it seems to be getting more big teams facing each other and more chances for not so top end teams to get some big players in their home stadium. But i'm also someone who doesn't agree with the now common complaints about players doing too many games in a season, specially since this means only 2 extra games a year for the top teams that go all the way.

But apparently citys owners still think he can lead them to the title How is that on Pep at all? KDB’s been sensational for good chunks of the season, he wasn’t playing well that game. Grealish was good when he came on, Mahrez was poor outside of his goal but it’s a mistake subbing him too apparently. Also yay Inter got the Coppa Italia yeoooo
