Anyway, after coming back from my injury, I've been slowly working back up to where I was. I hit 315x5 on DL yesterday and 182.5 for 3x5 for front squats today. I'm feeling better than I have a in long time. Being home is kind of shitty even though I like working out in my basement. It sucks that all of my friends have left to go back to college already, but such is life I guess.

They probably didn't meet the threshold for organic certification and had to list the % if they want to included 'organic' on the label. I work for a beverage company and we're dealing with all this certification bullshit for some stuff we're developing. Side note, organic things are not more expensive because they are better products, you are paying for certification costs, increased transportation/storage costs, marketing, and profits.

Side note, organic things are not more expensive because they are better products, you are paying for certification costs, increased transportation/storage costs, marketing, and profits. What you mean to say is that all organic products are not created equal (as paradoxical as that sounds ) There is quite a big difference between an item in the grocery store with a USDA certified "Organic" label and some farmers market produce that also qualifies as "Organic." The scale and size of the production/delivery chain at hand, while certainly important with normal goods, becomes even more price influential when a large regulatory hoop meant to guarantee a "higher quality" of item gets added to the mix. People that buy into the "Organic" hype but then purchase their "Organic" food from a normal grocery store seem a little bit......confused if you ask me anyway ![]()

I'm trying to figure out the best squat method for me. I'm 6'2 and have quite long legs and somewhat long arms (not quite as long in proportion to my legs though). In relation to my chest/stomach area anyway. I've watched quite a bit of videos on this and all I keep seeing is that my composition is just not made to squat easily and naturally, and that I'll have quite a bit of lean (and won't be able to keep upright as much as shorter, more in proportion-guys). I'm fine with that. But here comes the question. Squatting low bar is usually used to move the most weight. But can a guy that is built like me (think Layne Norton, just way less muscular, strong, and possibly less drugs haha) not be out of the ordinary and maybe benefit more from high bar squats? Up to this point I've squatted low bar most of the time and don't feel a difference in the weight I can move, but I don't squat very much or for a super long time. I'd love to hear experiences, especially from guys that are built like me. To illustrate, this is what I mean: ![]()

Pick a style, and grind it out. If you aren't squatting over 500 pounds and feel like something is holding you back, it's something else besides lever lengths. I'm 6'4, I have long legs, and I let that be (part of) my excuse for far too long, when the real problem was too little sleep (especially this) a poor routine and just not pushing myself hard enough.

I think high bar squats are healthier long-term for the back and hips but that's just my opinion. If your goal is to move as much weight as possible just keep low-bar squatting while working on mobility. You would probably benefit from lifting shoes with a raised heel more if your legs are really long because it increases the ankle ROM.

Really fascinating article about the intersection of genetics and athletics. It has a Canadian sprinter who is jacked out of her mind. She looks clearly on steroids, but has a genetic mutation: Luckily, Kris Mychasiw, Priscilla’s agent, is an extraordinarily nice guy. And he also knew that Priscilla constantly faced steroid whispers because of her musculature. After she won the Olympic bronze in 2008, some media in Europe began to openly accuse her. She ran at one meet in France specifically so that she could address the French media. ![]() Cases like this I think vitiate the arguments made by anti-doping advocates for "purity" of sport. Why are we restricting doping when nobody is on a level playing field to begin with? If you are going to talk about excellence in sports competition and performance doping is a leveler.
