This is on the heels of hiring Tony Sparano as the TE coach, and getting denied for an interview with Vance Joseph for the DC position. Who the fuck is Vance Joseph you may ask? Oh, just the db coach for the Bengals, who has zero coordinator experience, and was a secondary coach with the Niners during their dynasty from during hte same timeframe as Tarver.
So after three trips to the NFC Title game in four years, the Niners decided to target retreads who coached there during the franchise's worst stretch in 30 fucking years, and poach shitty coaches from the Raiders.
The rate at which this franchise is rapidly swirling the tubes is so astounding that I'm starting to be humored by it. While I dont know anything about the other guys, Sporano as a TE coach isn't a bad thing. There is a reason most guys get HC positions and then fail, and its because they were good coordinators. Some really good coordinators are failed Head Coaches like Dick Lebeau and Norv Turner. Other mediocre head coaches are elite coordinators like Rex Ryan, Gary Kubiak, and Riverboat Ron.
Nah it's really not a bad thing by itself. It's more just looking at the overall picture of everyone else they hired. Every other hire they've done is total shit

I'd love to turn the debate into Mark Brunell's opinion vs Dan Marino or Joe Theismann but that's just a doomed argument from the start. It's still skirting around the issue of cheating is cheating and punishment needs to fit that profile and be taken out of the context of the game that they were used in. If you're not going to make any deductions that the balls impacted the game at all, then the punishment shouldn't be affecting the Superbowl either. Either the Colts lost without the balls playing a factor in it, or the balls did and then there needs to be immediate repercussions on the field for the Superbowl including, but not limited to, suspensions of all guilty parties.
I don't think ANYONE wants the Superbowl to be affected because of this, and definitely the NFL doesn't so I doubt they'll make any kind of ruling that will detrimentally affect their own product.
I hate talking about deflated footballs, but I can't stop.

Isnt there a rule for "using equipment wrong"?
The only thing that really matters (who cares about money or 6th or 7th round picks) is is there a possibility for a disqualification so they dont make the superbowl?
|
Fines and taking away high-end draft picks would be enough of a punishment if the league concludes that the Pats did something wrong. I don't see the need to "disqualify" them from the Super Bowl. The Pats are very clearly the best team in the AFC this year and should play in the Super Bowl.
|
I'm glad you have that opinion because it seems most everyone wants the Patriots to lose more than money and draft picks.
I'm sure most people would be happy with the Patriots forfeiting their franchise, all of their Superbowl wins be taken away and given to the 2nd place team on the basis that they cheated, and every member of the Patriots including their families and everyone of their supporters publicly shamed for the next 300 years. That's the jist I got out of social media.

I like Lynch, but the people saying he has an anxiety condition seem to forget that he gave plenty of interviews at Cal and in Buffalo. He started the anti-media thing right around the time he was leaving there when they came at him with the knives.
granted, the media tends to be really stupid and shitty at times so I can get down with him intentionally fucking with them. But yeah, it's a spite thing, not a anxiety issues like Sticky Ricky

for those comparing Marino to Brunnell and saying Marino is more reliable or whatever... they should listen to what Troy Aikman has to say about Brady... and we have Bettis, and plenty of others. Not just Brunnell.
People should just take out a football and start throwing it around. Then take some air out of it and see the difference for themselves. Any guy with a million reps as QB is going to have very exact standards about what he wants the football to feel like. Brady was already quoted as saying he prefers a deflated ball.

Lol, I can't help but laugh in the face of victim-playing Pats fans. Aww, people don't like your team? Get over it.

Can't believe this conspiracy hasn't flamed out yet. They won by lk 50 points, pretty sure .5 psi of pressure didn't cause that.

People who think that's the argument don't get what the whole controversy is all about. I wish I was in that group, blissfully ignorant.

So in other news... Does anyone really think Gronkowski isn't that good?

Seahawks CB Jeremy Lane doesn't believe Rob Gronkowski is "that good."
Oh. "He’s OK," Lane conceded. "But he does have a big body, and from what I’ve seen on tape, he don’t like your hands being put on him. So if we put our hands on him and shake him up a little bit, he won’t catch that many balls as he should." We doubt Gronk had ever heard of Lane before today, but he might have something special for him in Super Bowl XLIX. Few teams search for bulletin board material as voraciously as the Pats. Lane has offered up some of the dumbest in recent memory.

In related news, A-Rod never used steroids before he got to the Yankees and Pete Rose only gambled that one time he got caught.

You can't play physical defence against a guy who has the body of gronk when you're worried about running a 4.40.

Well you can, he just still catches the ball.

It was a colt's player who tipped off his god damn coach after the Brady's interception. If they didn't blame it for why they lost why the fuck is this all big of a deal? That's my fucking question because they think it did. No matter what the pats say or do it's too fucking late this will be always in the minds of stupid uneducated football fans because of these worthless media making a big deal of it and classless teams like the colts and ravens because their tired of getting ass raped each time they play them using stupid excuses like this to take down the patriots because they fucking hate them. Whats the best way to take down an this organization tell everyone they cheated again. The coaches at the Senior bowl are all saying this is overblown because why I'm willing to be my fucking life that almost every QB in the NFL does this in some kind of way. lol holy shit this post. boston stay classy

Pretty sure Lane was talking about the couple of times the Ravens basically tackled gronk before the ball got there. Wonder how long before gronk tries to "throw him out the club"

While I think that the speed thing is overblown, I also think it's undeniable that Gronkowski is the single most dominant offensive player in the league, barring QBs (and perhaps including them). You basically can't cover him, and it's a ridiculous advantage.
I've asked this to a few friends and am wondering what you guys think. All of the players in the NFL are released, and you have to form a big board of who you'd want to bring on to your franchise. Age and contracts matter. How many QBs do you take before you take Watt and Gronk?
