In this case especially there is little the keeper could do differently. He still has to try and defend the goal and it's almost inevitable that he would nick the attacking player. I dont want to derail the thread, but just giving a yellow card instead of a red card is ofc a bad idea. Imho yellow (still red for a bad/dangerous foul) + awarded goal might be a way to go.

This match is much better than City-Barca so far.
I still think that Arsenal can win this.

Sad that Wenger decided to take Cazorla off. He's been our best player of the last two months and Özil has been badly under-performing and looking completely out of confidence.
Imagine if Sanogo steals a win tonight. I demand a Neville-gasm if it happens.

Bayern quite unimpressive so far. Let's see if arsenal can hold on to the draw.

Worst half I have seen from Bayern since the implosion vs. Man City. I'm not sure why Pep shuffled things around when they were so comfortable with Lahm in midfield and Rafinha at right back.
And very classy of Robben to spit on Sagna. What a guy! https://vine.co/v/MZdn5x0MBFM

To be honest I think Bayern has been doing pretty well, just gave up a few chances. Other than that they seemed in control and I thought they were more threatening.

Yeah just saw a replay and it was a lot better than I remember live. Plus the fact that nobody followed him would've actually made that a tap in for Robben. I apologize for my earlier assertion.

I hope Pep realizes what bullshit he has done.
Starting Martinez, well, ... Playing an asymmetrical style without a left winger is fine cause it gives you the option of crosses from the right side if there wasn't that small detail that there is no way any Bayern player is winning an air duel against guys like Mertesacker anyway. Basically any Bayern attack so far was useless because of that.
I expected him to play Götze as a false 9, Rafinha for Lahm and Lahm in Martinez place, Robben on the right and Thiago and Kroos behind him, gives you a lot more flexibility. Basically standard Bayern stuff :p

Hah ok, I was just flabbergasted about that comment, hence my 'violent' response on that , My apologies about that too.

what a game. i love it. it's so intense. GO BAYERN!

Bayern is playing the game they wanted to play. Keeping the ball, slowing it down and then explode on side overloads and diagonal passes. They are playing bad Arsenal is just defending really well.

I cringed watching the replay of the GKs challenge against Robben. He hit him really hard on the shin, that could have caused a serious injury. This is why they need to protect the players. Had the GK been more conscious of the red card rule when he jumped at him, he wouldn't have gone so recklessly, and maybe he would have conceded the goal but wouldn't leave his team with 10 men.

True, it's a tough choice when you have no actual left winger cause both are injured. I just think that Götze would be best suited for the false 9, which I feel would've been appropiate this game
