Most of those weren't even that bad. A few weeks ago I saw a trainer having his client do leg presses... in the smith machine. The guy was lying on a bench with his feet on the bar pressing it. I suppose that's legit if you don't have access to a leg press machine and you really want to do them, but this is at a huge gym. After they finished, they walked right over to, I shit you not, the leg press machine.
Squat - 1x2F 145kg. Couldn't get back up from the 2nd rep, had to ditch the bar. BP - 1x3F 85kg. My right arm gave out after a 3-4 seconds struggle with the rep. Close Grip Chinups - 3x3 bw+20kg.
I guess this is the point where I need to start using a real program and not just mess about once a week with each lift.
Haji you should always eat a banana before working out. Not just any banana though, it has to be huge ones that would make a beefy yeti fall on his ass and be proud.
Age: 22 || Height: 6'2" || Weight: 185lbs Starting Date: 2/29/12 || Goal Date: 7/25/12 Weight goals -- 195 lbs Training goals -- (Starting weights || Goal weights) Squat: 105 lbs 3x5 || 225 lbs 3x5 Deadlift: 125 lbs 3x5 || 250 lbs 3x5 Bench: 80 lbs 3x5 || 150 lbs 3x5 OH Press: 60 lbs 3x5 || 110lbs 3x5 BBRow: 100 lbs 3x5 || 170 lbs 3x5 Sleep goals -- Asleep by 1am. Misc/stress goals I'm shooting high, but I think with a high enough caloric intake I'll be able to achieve them. Not using steroids in spite of offers from friends who want me to work out with them. Going to stick to Starting Strength (with exception of BBRows vs Power Clean which I am not comfortable with since I'll be working out solo.)
Thanks to all the resources in this forum for getting me going. If you have any advice as to adjusting my goals I'm open to them. These are really just numbers I pulled from things I want to lift, like I think squatting my friend who weighs 225 lbs would be awesome. I'm brand new to weight lifting, what little strength I have comes from sports in high school/intramurals in college and running.
Edit: Is it stupid that I'm ok with OH Press and not Power Cleans? T_T
Double Edit: Is it ok for me to change OH Press into a Clean and Press? Will this screw me up?

OH press is part of the program. Barbell Rows are a good substitute for powercleans. Don't do clean and press, do the program.
This also means only 1 heavy set of deadlifts, not three. GL HF.
ohp is your major shoulder exercise, nothing substitutes clean is easy and fun, you dont have a spotter for it anyway so it doesnt matter that you're alone (bench press on the other hand, start asking for a spotter every time IMO) we are same weight and height yay

first i want to applaud you for not giving in to peer pressure! good job. steroids are bad. second, as ffgen already pointed out, working out alone is no reason not to do power cleans. they are a great exercise and you should definitely try them out!
your goals sound very doable. dont be surprised if you reach them in a few months, given proper nutrition and sleep
I've been doing a lot of heavy upper body stuff between deadlift days, because I haven't cared much about it for the last 6-8 months. I've been working on getting my bench press back since I recovered from bicep tendonitis, currently at 3x5x85kg. I always thought my triceps has been holding back my bench but appearently I can close-grip bench press the same weight I bench press, and this is after doing 3x5 regular bench and overhead press.
Is this really normal? My brother has been doing the same stuff as me and his close-grip is like 20kg below his regular bench(same as me).
Been sick since friday, only just came back up out of the fever-fog. I remember I tried to workout friday morning and I was weak and sleepy and stupid, guess the virus or whatever it was had just started doing it's thing. Anyway, bummed about fucking up what had been pretty steady progress up until this point. I paused leangains as well during this time, partly because I felt meat would be too much work for my weakened state to digest and partly because I couldn't stand up long enough to cook anything :p
I hope I'll be able to lift again on monday. Curious to see what a week of flu has done to my strength / weight.
Argh, I managed to catch a cold. What's the protocol for when you're sick? Avoid the gym until you're better, and then pick up where you left off? Or just trudge on and batter your body..
Today's supposed to be a gym day but my body just feels too weak right now

Definitely don't workout when you're sick. Friend of a friend did and ended up in a coma for six months -_-
