Experienced weigthlifters will always keep vertebral flexion 2-3 degrees out of danger. I slightly felt my thoracic extensors but right now, it's like I had a walk in the park this morning. I even did 6 sets of weigthed leg raises with 50lbs between the legs because I felt like it :p

Heavy band tension speed deadlift, pulls from block, chain box squat and a shitload of abs ![]()

I have seen meets where much much uglier lifts pass. The sliding on the thighs was the main problem, and that wasn't even too bad. But who the fuck cares, 3xbdw is fucking amazing

As long as the low back doesn't round more than it does (during the movement) it's likely fine. Being in lumbar flexion itself isn't THAT dangerous. It's when you actively flex (or twist) while doing the movement that bad things usually occur. I didn't see you moving into more flexion while doing it so all good there. That's not to say, however, that all people can do it like that. Some people have worse genetics and thus weaker vertebrae, discs, etc so it's generally best for most people to adhere to proper form.... but maxes can usually get ugly regardless

That was at Wal Mart. Dedicated sporting goods stores, American football season, and the only mouthguard cases available are branded Tapout, UFC, etc. and run ~$10. Something wrong with this fucking picture?

http://rugbymag.com/college-premier-league-/6156-indiana-to-the-top-of-btu-east.html “They have a great center,” said Indiana coach Marcus Hurley of MSU’s Scott Peterson. “Very good crasher, and he gained a lot of ground each time he touched the ball, and he was able to help them get into our half of the field and on the board.” @Blonde Good shit man. I'll have to see where my deadlift is after the american open in like 6 weeks.

Is there any possibility you'll play semi-professionally (not sure what the US system is like)? In terms of pure strength, you're as strong as most of SA's international centres. Jean de Villiers, for example, is 103kg at 1.9m. Obviously that's not all that counts, but it seems like you have the other skills down as well. Anyway, here's an article on the basic strength/speed requirements for the Springboks. Pretty interesting! Centres: 1.65 seconds in the 10 metres, 5.20 in the 40 metres, 130 kg's in the bench press and 160 in the squat. Vertical jump: 65cm.

However the raw skill gap difference is pretty big between the US and International is pretty big. There's plenty of athletes like me that are much better at rugby. If I started playing rugby at 6 I might have a shot in hell. I'll play at the highest division possible (which is unpaid, there's no pro league) for mens but our national team is super political and those players are all much better than me. A lot of it depends on who you know and what system you start playing rugby in. Ahh ok, that makes sense. As you say, you're obviously at a big disadvantage because of the late start, so I wasn't really suggesting you'd make it in at the Springboks. I was more thinking along the lines of, if you're strong enough for the Boks, and you have decent skills, how far away are you from the US team? I have seen the US rugby team play a few times but it's really difficult to judge the strength of the players, especially if they're mismatched with their opponents.
