MC plays a weird, midgame oriented playstyle. Continuously making voidray/immortal is super safe but you really have to hit some kind of midgame timing with it because it delays the rest of your tech a lot and both units aren't as useful the later the game goes, especially void rays. People don't usually do that. If MC had stuck to making just immortals, this bust might've worked wonders.

HerO is making mistakes that are letting MC punish him like this, I do enjoy watching HerO play as ever but his over-extension is killing him vs a player of MC's style

Series like this also remind me that PvP really isn't that bad, it's a cool matchup and probably the one that is the most fluid and improvisational, for all the other flaws that it may have

Sick entrapment of the blink stalkers by MC. And sick counter to the third in that time by HerO. Too bad camera did not show us what happened at the third. But that's what happens when ST_Legend isn't observing.

Casters also handling camera work is reducing the quality of the show. Not bashing, I don't blame them. It's hard to cast already, having to handle camera at the same time is just silly.

His army is always just so much smaller. I can't even figure out why. What's worse is he doesn't seem to realize/care. He just continues to pump out probes or tech, or get infrastrcture while MC says "ok I'll just build immortals and void rays and kill you" It's really frustrating

Game-wise, certainly not as bad as some people still claim, but results-wise it's a complete mess and extremely hard to predict. MC is looking very strong in this series, while he mostly looked a bit lost vs herO[jOin]. There's other examples too, san having a bad record in PvP for a while recently, then going 10-0 in his last PvP games (against really good opponents too), and of course other results from Assembly. That's what MC does. He's kinda like the July of Protoss, in a way. Unless you're better than MC in every aspect of play (some players have managed to accomplish this at certain points, especially while he was slumping) then it's just something you have to take into account or you'll die.

That's HerO though, he harasses and keeps you pinned back all game while setting up tons of infrastructure to make the army he needs the second he sees you moving out. But it's a razorthin edge which is why he's so inconsistent

He plays a very zergesque style of protoss. It's beautiful to watch but it's extremely fragile and does NOT allow mistakes.

It's probably a bit inconsistent because of the reasons I quite enjoy watching pros playing it (hate playing it myself lol). It's really about your decision-making and build choices within the game once it gets out of early game especially, it isn't as straightforward in terms of progression as a lot of other matchups. It's damn hard to make the right decisions all the time in such a matchup I guess

That's all well and good but he keeps moving out on the map and pressuring/attacking with armies that have no business being there. In addition he is never prepared for the inevitable counter push

You are right. It is a very free flowing match-up. Unfortunately, usually only Protoss tend to appreciate HOTS PvP.

MC sacrifices probe production after maxing out two bases, which gives him a period of superior army production. It means that if Hero makes a small mistake and loses some army supply then it can be enough for MC to make a kill move.
