Even I am unsure of the team colored effects. I think for some things like scanner sweep it is very good, but for others like psistorm it is not working as well. I already removed it from fungal because I felt it was making the game more confusing.
So this feature is not set in stone. But we cannot figure out what is working and what isn't without trying it.
