I don't deny it, but then again great sporting rivalries have never really been "sportsmanlike" in terms of fan conduct. Also it could be something to do with the "EG-TL best proleague team" article and the way casters decided stephano won even before the match started.
But, hey, I'm no Flying fan, but he did play a pretty cool 3rd game. I'm also a Flash fan, but if Flying beat him, then he was the better player that day, simple.

And he did play at the end of 2011, in the Blizzard cup. Got knocked out 1st round.

There's no doubting the mind games of the GSL format are a different beast than the bracket play which Stephano excels at. I'm sure it's something he'll learn to cope with better. Exactly. You need a perfect scooting when you want to play standard against protoss.

Exactly, even when Grrrr was winning OSL, he played super macro late games. Koreans didn't catch on with his great macro ideas. After Koreans started to understand the macro games, early game disadvantages of foreigners shows evidently. Idra is the same way, Naniwa plays greedy, and Stephano is the same also. The level of attention to details needed in early game is not the same.

Winning 2-3 day tournaments doesn't mean much in GSL format.

Come on, how can u be so sure that Stephano has not prepared properly ? I mean how many well prepared korean players must have failed against some nicely thought out uncommon strategy ?
Just be fair with Stephano, he was well countered but on the other hand he didn't make any big mistake and handled the situation as well as it could be in such difficult situation.
No need to bash Stephano. Praise Flying who did really well to beat such a ZvP beast as Stephano.

All the bashing aside, I like the build done by Flying in game 3. Phoenixes to push overlords back to safe positions, zealots to take out the spore crawlers to give phoenixes free reign over the skies, proxy pylon to warp up in high ground while using phoenixes to spot.
Great preparation and tailoring for the build to the map.

He used to be pretty damn "cheese" proof earlier. Don't know what have changed. Better opponents or/and sloppier play?

The GSL format with time for preparation just doesn't seem to suit Stephano. He's a quite predictable, stylistic player who relies a lot on game sense over scouting, and those are all weaknesses that can be exploited with specific preparation. Also, it seems he just isn't as good as he used to be last year when at times you could even make an argument that he was the best zerg in the world. You can lose against DTs once in a while, okay, but the third game was really nothing special from a mediocre opponent.

It has been like this ever since the early Brood War days. Too true. Lol you were not watching Huk then... Not entirely accurate that. Huk plays standard, it's just that his standard is aggressive. He still goes for the type of rushes most people have come to expect from him. Indeed.
