By the way, are people still promoting the silly EG curse?
To be fair, it should be 50/50. But if you look at his track record, it is worse than that (especially after Nestea's slump). Of course, it does get blown out of proportion currently but there is a reason for that.

Same for Axiom. - It seems less of a stretch to call PartinG a KeSPA player than Taeja a foreign player by virtue of their teams. - Almost all good players on eSF teams were pro-gamers on KeSPA teams in the past. - The elephant in the room article implied that there would be a linear connection between Brood War skill and SC2 skill. In this sense, are cjhero, t8-cure and wjs-sos elephants? They were nobodies before SC2.
I would propose that we only talk about eSF vs KeSPA in the context of two sets of teams that both have their own team league. It's fun to speculate about how well they would do against each other and who is going to win out in the end.
What I would also suggest is to stop caring about whether the achievements of individual players reflect anything, such as the organisation they are part of. PartinG's wins don't reflect on KeSPA at all, nor do they on eSF, it's just an individual player doing very well.
To add to this.
First is also similar to HyuN in that he switched pretty late.
Mvp could be the first 'elephant' since he was the most successful (at the time of switch) BW player to switch early. Since he was the most successful WoL player, we could argue that he 'proved' the elephant theory.
I don't think we will get away from eSF vs Kespa. It is like rooting for teams at this point. For example, If you are an IM fan, you will root for True and dreamertt against more 'established' players regardless of their achievement. That is actually what defines a fan.

Wow, can't believe that my liquibets turned out to be right, it felt like a pretty big gamble when I picked Roro and parting.

rooting for PARTING X MC on the finals, go toss!

Friendly banter is nice, but this esf vs kespa is retarded It's near the level of soccer hooligans discussing after a match It's not enjoyable anymore, just aggression (from both sides)

People who thought that roro is not making it out of this group are just delusional and seem resistant to acknowledge what is happening on the screen. I have never even followed bw, but given this group. i knew for a fact that roro is making it out, just was not sure first or second. some good games today, looking forward to ro8.

Not to call you out. But someone with SKT1 tag and never even followed BW? And you knew for SURE that Roro would be favored over Life and PartinG?
I call BS on this one. It is always easy to say things like 'I knew for a fact that roro is making it out' after the fact.

I was hoping for Life to make it out =[ He is the only zerg I really like.

Most of the eSF players who were good were KeSPA anyway, they just switched over and then after a bit of time adjusting they started dominating - PartinG, Mvp, MC, NesTea, etc. Will the same happen with the KeSPA players just switching over now once they're had time to adjust? No idea. Really I think the distinction between eSF and KeSPA is overblown because of this overlap. Regardless we have a pretty good Ro8 set up.

SKT fan Didn't follow Brood War Does not compute
On a more serious note, I feel it is unfair to say "I knew for a fact that X" after X has already happened. I mean, RorO is obviously really good, especially in ZvZ - I'll willingly admit that, but "Knowing for a fact" that he'll advance from a group with the world's best Zerg and the player with, arguably, the best PvZ in the world seems a bit far-fetched. Care to share your reasoning?

And its begun. 5 kespa in top 8 of gsl.

I don't get how people can continue to underrate roro, the guy is such a beast

Can't help but laugh when someone uses the term 'fact' or 'guarantee' when talking about events that are completely out of their control
Life and Parting being variables in this just makes it all the more ludicrous.

In all this argumentation (mostly benign, admittedly) about Kespa and ESF, I just want to be clear: I love players belonging to both organizations. However, as an organization, I prefer Kespa, not just because of the BW connection, but because they truly professionalized team video-games (strangely enough, in an individualistic game). So for instance, when I cheer for Parting the Kespa player, I am cheering not just for him as an individual (because he's awesome and funny) but also for the system put into place by Kespa (the strict training regime, the in-depth coaching, the in-house practice/strategy building, etc) that I believe ESF teams were able to fully implement.
Kespa built the groundwork for people like Flash to dominate, but they also did the same for people like MVP. In the same vein, people like Polt and Life were not able to benefit from the Kespa system directly, but rather grew up in an ESF environment. So I think there's a legitimate competition here between both systems, and that's the rivalry I can understand and enjoy. The players... are kids who love video games. Let's not draw a line between them so haphazardly, as if their individual distinction in relation to the system they grew in was so very important.

Well, of course the 'system' was developed by Kespa teams. IM was founded by players who all played BW so their team likely mimics a lot of the best things about Kespa teams. Same with other eSF teams. Remember ST had July so they probably modeled themselves after Kespa as well (Life started having a lot of success after joining ST).
Kespa teams might have a more 'rigid' schedule but eSF teams are far from being slackers. Their schedules might be slightly more flexible but I don't think they are practicing any less.

wow, I didn't or rather thought that life had the best chances in this group but I guess roro stayed true to his word lol. I expected life to take first or two with Parting and roro fighting over the 2nd spot ><
