Shit, I thought Empire vs RoX.KIS would be today, why do you post threads for later matches earlier than this one?

Anyway, Acer should be favoured, but ROOT could do it if they get a bit lucky.

3-1 or 3-2 for Acer.

Masa and Vibe should win, so if Major can beat Nerchio then 3-2 for Root. But if Nerchio beats Major which is more likely, then 3-2 for Acer I think.

Now that DH has switched to Zerg, Acer has finally become what it alwas was at heart: an all-Zerg team :D Root will probably put up a good fight at the least, though. If they can somehow defeat Nerchio, their chances to win aren't bad..

I think the first two matches could go either way, though Acer has to be favoured in both of them. Vibe should beat Paranoid and Scarlett should beat Puck.

I guess 3-0, but MAYBE 3-1 for acer. Bly and Nerchio won't lose, and PranOid has really strong ZvZ.

accer really is a very good team but Root should win masa and vibe really shouldn't lose and major vs nerchio could go either way but i believe in major so he should win too. then again root should of won vs dignitas as well so anything could happen.

going to have to predict a 3-1 just becuase i haven't seen enough of puck to pick him above scarlett

that would be the point Root was suppose to win that game given that they underpreformed so much there they might well underpreform here as well.

Huh? You really think Masa obviously beats Bly? Bly is a damn good zerg man. Top 12 WCS Europe, Top 16 DreamHack Valencia. I also think you are overrating Major a little. Major could win, but Nerchio is clearly favored in that matchup. The only "shouldn't lose" here is that Scarlett shouldn't lose to Puck.

masa has scary scary tvz it's probably his best matchup and we are talking about some one how has 2-1 alive 2-0 thorzain and whent 1-2 against jonnyrecco and has something like ten more wins then loses against vibe who is I think quite abit better then bly maybe i am wrong as i haven't seen much of bly but got to think masa should defintely win

Is that supposed to be sarcastic?
What is serious about WCS Mexico where Major is basically the only notable player?

Yea because being the only sober person out of 15 drunk people is like winning against a whole country. Everyone knows hsc is for having a good time and nerchio doesn't drink so... Everyone else was drunk so nerchio took advantage of that. Had everyone else been sober he would have been last

Yeah you're right, Nerchio is pretty crap. I mean his 2nd place in IEM Cologne VII for instance was such an embarassment, he only won his group with ForGG, PuMa, DeMuslim etc. in it, then 3-0'd MC in the quarterfinal and took out viOLet in the semi... Obviously this noob stands no chance against MajOr.

Another salient point. I may have to reconsider the misleading evidence that I have been compiling in order to judge the true worthiness of Nerchio as a competitor in the Starcraft 2 scene.

Root gonna win. So long as they don't derp and send anyone except major out in the ace match. But if they're lucky, masa major and vibe all win the first time and they get a 3-1.

ROOT is the underdog here based on any reasonable estimate, they can win, but anyone who thinks they are favoured does not really know much about non-US SC2 scene.

People are really underestimating the fact that ROOT has the ability to game plan and prepare for an all Zerg line-up from ACER.

I don't understand how anyone can call this as a win for Acer. ROOT has the superior lineup.

Bly has been impressive recently and Masa lost both his series against Dignitas (0-2 Select, 1-2 JonnyRecco) so 2-1 Bly
Major's been playing pretty well recently but I think Nerchio is clearly the favorite so 2-1 Nerchio.
Vibe plays a really good ZvZ (beating all comers but Scarlett at WCS NA) and forgive me for my ignorance but I dont really know who Paranoid is so 2-0 Vibe
Haven't really seen Puck recently and Scarlett is destroying everything in her path (ref. WCS Canada, NA) so 2-0 Scarlett
Overall 3-1 Acer, although I would love to see Root force the ace match.

So I decided to make my prediction before turning on the stream so I wouldn't make a biased prediction for the first series. I turned on the series just in time to see Bly gg.

They might have superior line up but they also have little answer for Nerchio / Scarlett combo. The chance of them going 2-0 and then win the ace match even if Bly / ParanOid lose is better than 50% imoh.

That would be great if those two teams had similarly strong players. But Acer has two players far above whatever ROOT can throw at them and only 2 wins are necessary to force ace match.

Anyway Bly played very strange game, it was like he was drunk. Masa outclassed him more than Taeja did at DH Valencia and since I doubt Masa is better than Taeja I think Bly is playing terribly

And lost to Idra no ? one BoX is not really good way to judge. He has no consistent results comparable to Nerchio. Of course he can win, he is one of the best foreigner terrans, but he IS an underdog.

Major 3-0'd Hyun.

Only after being down 0-2 in that series. Overall he is 5-10 vs Hyun.
Proving something with single results is silly.

I would give the advantage clearly to Nerchio. Only cross-server could change this.

If you mean TSL4, he won 3-2

Then he lost 1-5 HyuN in Fight Club
And he got destroyed in NASL qualifier 1-3

The sound is off. Not only are the sound effects too low, but the Mike also sounds very low quality. I'm sure the equipment is good, maybe something is wrong with the settings? Or the room they're talking in?

it's tough to see how incontrol muscled his way to a WCG USA victory. i don't think he knows how the game works. that could just be sc2.

Major has barely been making it by vikings, so I'm not sure if Ultras are the best choice right now.

D: Or apparently they are. Why siege in that case though. I thought spreading out unsieged tanks is better against ultras.

eh incontrol way below the belt bringing up your 2 wins from 4 gate. you dodged my challenge to a show match and smurfed me in WCG (tsavonglah).

let's face it, if I hadn't been inappropriately knocked out by a mismanaged round robin at the austin event, I'd have been a national finalist that year.

Next year I qualified for regionals, didn't receive my automatic advancement to nationals and then got eliminated by Idra playing vs him with a hangover when I got moved to an unannounced online regionals replacement. After the poor management of WCG i don't think you can bring up my tournament performance.

i'm ready to showmatch you any day of the week even though I've just been practicing for like 5 days. don't get so cocky. you still owe me a j, and don't forget it.

obviously there's no shame in dropping best of 3s vs lz in a higher pressure first lan of my life, let alone a LAN in texas. if i'd been allowed to play the pvps i was entitled to, i'd have advanced no problem.

ok to be fair this is all in good sport. i know i'm not allowed to rescind remarks about evil geniuses players. on account of the curse, i'll understand if jeoff refuses to accept my challenge.

Meh, I think Paranoid could have had that if he macroed better when he was attacking with roaches. He had 800 mins at the end of the attack, so if those had been earlier drones, he could have capitalised on the advantage. Still, well played by Vibe.

let's face it, if I hadn't been inappropriately knocked out by a mismanaged round robin at the austin event, I'd have been a national finalist that year.

I wasn't watching the stream when this was brought up, but maybe it was the series he had against TLO where he won with pylons in his base two times in a row to take the series.

There certainly is something genuinely cute about two skilled trangendered people playing in an official match.

He hasn't stated that he has and I doubt it as well but regardless he wishes to identify as a woman.

I just also wanted to express how confused I am. I thought he was joking at first... but then he was completely serious about it, and it seemed questionable to joke about that when going against Scarlett.

In any event, I'm excited to see Puck's play, though it will be difficult to beat Scarlett to say the least.

There was a thread on reddit about it. She's transgendered but not presently transexual. IE, she identifies as a woman but has not gone through the surgery.

It takes a lot of confidence to come out as transgender. My hat is off to Puck, hopefully he didn't lose anyone close to him in the process.

I don't think I'll ever understand "transgender", it just doesn't make sense to me. I won't judge anyone who is, but I just don't get it.

That's neither here nor there though, this could be a good match.

Between 5-7% I think (the retarded "23%" number was wrong, didn't take into account time to harvest, only time travelling from minerals to hatch)

Approx. 24% extra minerals. It is best used on far patches because it'll mess up a paired short patch.

Not much even if you do it perfectly. It would give a huge boost if you could perfectly do it with all your drones but most people can only do 2-3 without messing up.

At my very best including stacking drones, all I've managed to get in extra minerals is 35 by the 4 minute mark before there are other things I have to do with apm.

I don't know why incontrol keeps saying that we don't see this push very often any more. It's been used quite a lot in GSTL and GSL lately unless I'm mistaken.
Edit: Incontrol clarified, it is a lot less common now for sure.

If you're wondering why incontrol is calling Puck "she" it was covered before the game (you can check the vod for his words exactly). Puck recently came out as transgender.

You mine 24% faster which = 24% more mineral income but you dont get "more" minerals, you just mine faster. Hes being a troll i think i wouldn't worry about it.

I'd love to see the end of this be Scarlett saying something like "BOW TO YOUR QUEEN BEEATCH :p" Or something like that, which only works as a girl saying to a girl. Might be pushing the envelope a little much though I suppose.

Man every time I see a Protoss beat a Zerg, its like witnessing some great miracle...
and if Zerg wins it's just 1 big steamroller.

Seems like there would be no way to fix this though without ruining PvT

To be fair, the way Zerg is designed from the ground-up is that they either just peter out and die of they "steamroll"... that's nearly always how it looks when a Zerg wins for the whole existence of SC2. The race works by "exponentially" building off of minor advantages, so most Zerg victories are actually a culmination of a series of smaller victories that aren't as noticeable until the end when they just plow through everything.

okay, this is just proof that zvz is random and pure luck. vibe beats idra and nerchio beats vibe. wow. like idra said, zvz is silly. it's a luck based match up because vibe should't beat idra and nerchio shouldn't beat vibe at all.

Eh I think that's much more so in ZvP than ZvT. ZvT can be quite back and forth.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

So what does that make Nerchio if Nerchio wins then ?

wow vibe bungled that.

Having defensive banelings at two points in that game would have saved him so much trouble. He took a lot of unnecessary damage, stripping away his ridiculous lead.

impressive for nerchio to pull that win back out of his ass.

Yeah... No.

Nerchio is arguably better than IdrA right now, so just because Vibe can beat IdrA doesn't make it an auto-win against Nerchio. Starcraft 2 doesn't work that way anyway.

And by the way Nerchio, someone should tell you that when playing a Root zerg, rule number one is have detection at home

like every single pro and caster has said, idra only does bad if he's on tilt. if he's not on tilt idra would easily be a top 5 player in the world

Are you trolling ? Nerchio and Stephano are two best zergs outside Korea and unlike Stephano Nerchio have always had extremely good ZvZ on level where he is on par with Koreans.

EDIT: ok he is trolling

nerchio lost TSL to darkforce due to the same thing, and when when he played against violet at IEM he seemed very aware about having detection to stop infestor run-bys.

Were these games played before IEM??
hah nah, he was just thrown off his gameplan just a little bit after coming back from 5 drones.

Well played by both sides, but congrats to Acer! Scarlett + Nerchio is a pretty strong core for Acer in this kind of team league format.

Grats Acer indeed, even though all teams know they will face an Acer zerg they still seem to make it work.

I really wish we had writeups for IPTL, there's so much exciting stuff happening there now. That first Liquid vs EG match? SOOOOO GOOD!
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

Not to take anything away from Stephano, but Taeja played too greedy, which is the reason more most of his losses.

If you have zerg selected as your race on TL I think that is close enough.

hey incontrol, just wanted to let you know that Vibe actually ISNT a ZvZ specialist. ZvZ is his worst matchup, as he's said in the past. I can see why you would think he's a specialist since he took out IdrA, but his ZvT and ZvP are definitely better.

Just a heads up
