I second this. I cannot remember another day in GSL when everything was downrated so hard.

Are we seriously going to have Huk as the only protoss left in code S? If that happens, it'll be both impressive and sad.

Too many Protoss in Ro8 Code A and Up/Down combined for that to happen I believe? Lemme check....

6-7 Protoss
15 players
6 advance.

Ok nvm, no Protoss may make it =P Its possible

Unless they stick 4 or 5 protosses in a single group, Huk could be all alone in Code S. There hasn't been a single protoss that has gotten top two in the new up/down group play format.

Didnt Trickster got 2nd to play in this season code S? I was going to say JYP also advanced but he failed in the tiebreaker if Im not mistaken.

Trickster, JYP, and MKP all tied for second in an Up/Down group. After two rounds of tiebreakers MKP advanced.

It's just the fact that people are getting sick and tired of the terran invasion. Don't think it's fair estimation of the games tbh

If DRG heads down Losira's side of the bracket (by taking second in his group) he will lose. But if he wins his group and gets onto Leeknock's side of the bracket I think he has a good chance of making it to the finals.

lol you crazy

How so? Losira is a better zvz player than Leeknock by far and the rest of that side of the bracket are Terrans and Nestea. Since DRG is a zvt specialist he should get to the finals, as long as MVP loses to Bomber or Nestea or has an off-day against DRG.

What makes you think DRG has a greater chance vs Bomber/Mvp/Nestea than vs MMA/Losira tho?

1- I have faith in DRG's ability to take down Bomber if they play. (REVENGE FOR MLG)
2- MMA is a tvz specialist so I think he could take down DRG and has in the past.
3- There is a better chance of DRG winning if he is in the right mindset and has some momentum, I can't think of any time a GSL was won by a player who advanced from second in their group.(ok Nestea in May, but that is an exception to the rule as Clide beat him in the group stage in his hero boss mode and immediately lost to Killer in the following round.)

MMA is good at TvZ but Mvp is better.
Losira is good at ZvZ but Nestea is A LOT better.

I think you could really argue Mvp/MMA in TvZ, it's actually a VERY close call.

July will beat HongUn, but I don't think he'll make it out of this group. GanZi is so good, and LosirA's ZvZ is much better than July's.

I feel like such a baller right now.

Why were all of these games not recommended though? I didn't watch them yet, but were they that bad?

Mvp/MMA TvZ isn't close at all.

DRG can consistently beat MMA, but he cannot consistently beat MVP.

DRG is 2-3 vs MMA and 3-3 vs MVP. How do you define consistency?

Also, IPL 3 qualifiers:

All of these protoss going down. One could say it is a matter of balance but really none of them have played well. I dont think they belong in code S tbh. The only protoss i thought played well this season is Huk. Much to my surprise really. I think he is good but not as good as it seems he is now. Protoss is having a hard time but I really hope players like JYP and Sage will change that. They are much more code S material then HungOn and co.

All the zerg advancing to Ro16 deserves it. Zerg is a race where you can only win by outplaying your oponent. Cheese and gimmicks wont cut it so being in code S as zerg means you are absolutely worth it. Crossing my fingers for DRG and coca to advance so we have 5 deserving zergs to challenge the terrans.

Looking at terrans advancing I would say half of them are absolutely worthy. The other half is just gimmicky cheese players that would still be in code B if they had played any other race. I dont think its dreadfull with so many terrans advancing and the general terran domination but players like Virus and Ganzi in code S let alone ro16 makes me sad. Hopefully Ro8 will be a good mix of skilled terran and zerg players.

you right, protoss player have played badly but you deseved a little thing.. they are forced to play strategy thet are at the edge of foolness just to TRY to counter superior macro mechanism form terran and zerg. No safe play, no safe composition until 3-4 bases colossus AND templar AND air, micro every single push with FF and ramp or you die cause you have no sacrifical pieces... etc etc is no easy to commit no mistake and play well in this situation

Hongun is better than JYP and Sage. At least he is until JYP and Sage actually beat some Code S quality players. They wouldn't do any better in Code S, especially JYP who has horrible vT. And how do expect people to play well when their race basically forces them to take giant risks? What solid macro play do you suggest on a map like Dual Sight? Where it's incredibly difficult to take a third and fourth?

Genius made repeated micro mistakes and bad engagements. I think his builds was fine but I think we can expect better control from a code S player. HungOn is just weird and I am not just talking about this season. He is generally not up there.

I am not just hating on the protoss players though. Half of the terrans advancing are evenly bad if not worse. The difference is that as protoss you get knocked out, as terran you can advance. It's the sad truth I guess.

As for sage and JYP I think they have potential to be up there but you are correct that we need to see them in Code S before we can be sure.

Who have JYP and Sage beaten recently that are actually good, high code S quality, like Hongun is losing to? Like Dongraegu is the only one I can think of. At least Hongun got decently far in Code S a few times. Let's see how they fare vs good zergs in Terrans in Code S, if they even get past up/downs.

Well I'll be cheering my heart out for Nestea/Losira/DRG since no Protosses (Killer shouldn't even show up, he'd just get abused).

Out of the 10 games, 9 were bad. The last game was quite entertaining though
