The actual LB Final is called Consolation Final, although it's obviously not a consolation final since the winner advances to the grand final

Why is Tarson vs MC considered the LB Final?

The LB Final should in fact be game between the winner of Tarson vs MC vs the loser of Nani vs Huk.

Hmmm good point, you might be right.

edit: Looked at the brackets, not that clear, could be both ways. Anybody know for sure?

How is this unclear? WB Final is Huk vs Naniwa, LB final is always played between the loser of the WB Final and whomever made his way throughout the lower side of the bracket, in this case the winner of MC vs Tarson. Even looking at the free spaces left in the bracket gives it away.

Chill. I looked at readmore and ESL trees and there it looks like another round in LB before they go to WB...

LB final: Tarson vs MC
WB final: Huk vs Naniwa
consolation final: Winner LB vs Loser WB
Grand final: Winner CF vs Winner WB (Winner WB with 1:0 lead)

And thus the loser of CF is third? Sounds solid. Thanks!

Correct. Loser of LB final is out of the tournament. Loser of Consolation final takes the third place.

Well, yeah, I'd take over 20 matches of pro player compared to 1.

Derp

That doesn't matter, Naniwa won and will be up 1-0 against MC in the finals if he manages to defeat Huk.

And looking back at their last bo3 Naniwa looked more solid. Go back 20 games if you want.

Derp right back at you.

I find these 'automatically 1 up' rules utterly ridiculous, why do people do them?

I don't think this is the same as the MLG system. In double elimination the player coming from the losers bracket needs to beat the player in the winners bracket twice, one to knock him in to losers and once to knock him out. It just means everyone has two chances instead of one.

So, for those of us who missed the previous days, will there ever be VODs or replays or something?

Looking forward for todays games.

It's certain that you get access to VODs. Most likely they will be announced on taketv.net. You have "just" to be patient as TakeTV and the ESL sometimes take their time to upload the VODs.

This event is somehows supported by the ESL. They have "tracked" all matches of the HSC 3 as you can see here.
The replays can be accessed through the matchdetails (in this case the tiny litte blue info link). As the players played there games on any given Notebook in the gaming room or on the "main stage" it can take a while to gather all the replays and upload them.

Not sure if the ESL result page was posted here somewhere. Maybe it's worth to put it in the first post.

Groupstage: results groupstage (klick on blue info link of each game)
Playoffs: results Playoffs (klick an the tiny little "vs" of each game to access the match details)

My brain says MC will come back and take this, but my heart says Naniwa. I guess it'd be cool if HuK took it too, but I think MC knows his play better than Nani's.

Or Tarson just pulls a massive surprise. Hah.

It's a way to give a small edge to someone who's gone undefeated in the WB in a bo7 final.

Because the guy from winners bracket hasnt lost a single series, while the one from losers has.

Yeah we know that - because the loser has HAD TO PLAY MORE MATCHES to claw his way back to where he was before - he's made one fuckup and has to recover his way there. Then we keep him / her down regardless?

Naniwa 2-1 vs MC? Man I wish I was there to see it, looks like he got some revenge for MLG. A bit of disappointing results for Thorzain but I guess it's got to do with his wrist

Nani takes out huk and MC crushes tarson in a disgusting fashion and we'll see MC come back in "War of the Worlds (extended version, reworked ending) where the tripods actually win.

No, there's a LB final, whose winner advances to the grand final and there's a consolation match between the loser of the UB final and the loser of the LB final for 3rd place.

this is not mlg, players in LB have one(?) more match to play to reach the grand final. i can't think of any system with a loosers bracket that is more fair.

no? that would be unfair to the loser of the UB final lol. what arctics said is right.

Well, otherwise the player in winners bracket has no extra chances. Unlike his opponent he just did one poor series, yet still loses. That would be unfair.

The most "fair" is to have two series, where the one from the losers bracket has to win twice. This is quite uninteresting though, as such, I very much prefer the one from the winners bracket just getting one map up. In reality, it does give the advantage to the lower bracket player though, as he was allowed to lose an entire series and still win the tournament while the upper bracket player is just allowed to lose one map extra. However, I can take that unfairness as it makes it more interesting.
I can no longer rest under the tree of wisdom, since you have axed down the roots feeding it.
