He spam clicked across the choke and won a fight he should have had no chance in. And why didnt Idra back out at that point, when he saw all those ff's go down he still over commited to the fight. A sentry army backed int a corner with colossi and you act like creating a FF wall was unexpected.
What do you expect him to do? Give him half is army because he can spam F?

Firstly, he saw that Idra had infestors, it's possible that he just spammed random forcefields and it just happened to block out all of Idra's critical units, or it's possible that he purposely did this. Where do you get off saying he should have won that battle? Clearly he shouldn't have, he attacked in a stupid manner and lost because of it, why should he have won that? There was many different things Idra could and should have done, but he decided to be lured in to where White-Ra wanted to fight, and was force fielded away from his key units.

He could've engaged that army earlier, but chose to move back. Pretty damn smart of him. I love this logic, that only one thing seems to matter. The fact that he gave himself such a strong advantage because he saw that it was there and abused it is why he is so good. No one bitches about how you can get owned by Vulture control (well, they do, but in the end it's all justified).
Also, he almost DIDN'T get the Infestors blocked. Whether or not he was aiming to keep them away (probably, he had scouted them I believe with his Observer and it would've cost him that fight), the fact that he almost didn't make it is what makes it epic.

Last I checked there were only 24 hours in a day.
But amazingly epic series!!! Thanks HDH guys.

Thanks for a good tournament.
I have to say though, that HD and husky could be a bit more respectful towards the players. They talked a lot about IdrA's "rage quit", although he only did that one game. Rest of the time he was acting rather graciously, yet it was called "rage quitting" again in the last game.
Commentators can be biased as well, sure, but they seemed to thrive on IdrA's misfortune.

Care to tell us why he should have had no chance? Because IdrA too thought so and thus didn't make a single one of those units that pretty much have been specifically designed to counter collossus and aren't affected by force fields in any way? Or because IdrA so brilliantly a-moved in on him? Or because IdrA before the battle didn't know that such a thing as force fields exists? I'm interested!

Yeah, but my point was more on the "mental level", idra couldn't afford to loose to cheese like whitera can do so horribly well, so he seems to have felt compelled to hold back to 1 base, while whitera knowing idra just as well seemed to be sure idra wouldn't cheese him and just FEed and made idra have to do some aggression to stay in the game.

Amazing series.
To those saying these weren't good games, can you get your head out of your ass and elaborate?
|
That's not epic force field, lots of protoss did that. It is just idra's bad judgement which made that battle one-sided.
He went infestors, instead of corruptors, if he had 5-6 corruptors, the battle might be changed even with those force fields.
On the other hand, idra does not have an open-mind zerg needs. What he knows is just macro, nothing else.
|
Dammit quit whining about Z being too weak. Idra just played worse than WR. In sc1 as a zerg you didn't just run your units into storms. Zerg usually shouldn't be the one who wins by breaking a set up defense by just a-moving. If you have the speed advantage you chose the battlefield and if your opponent doesn't move out you drop his expos/main or nydus him or do watever is takes to make him loose his position. Face it, Idras army was a bad mix and it was a horrible spot to attack with it
|
Lol i can't believe all this QQ about FF now.
Not like you can fight head on a 200 mech ball in BW. Idra could have won that game if he went guerrilla tactics like nydus worms, drops... etc. Or just getting corruptors before maxing. Suicidng his army like that clearly wasn't a good move, considering the huge production capability, income and mobility advantage he had.

IdrA should have OBVIOUSLY invested in infestor burrow movement speed, the hard counter to the ever popular 10 colossus 22398572 sentry protoss mobile forcefield fortress.

They react that way when most players do that, you can watch some of their YT vids. I don't think they are trying to be disrespectful, although it's easy to see it that way.

To all the people with 2k++ posts:
Why were the games bad? Care to elaborate?
I personally didn't see any mind-boggling play, but still think that the games were exciting to watch.

Why is there so much hate on force fields?
I think they're a very clever mechanic, and they can also be countered by massive units which IdrA did not get. IdrA also didn't get air units to counter the colossus so therefore WhiteRa won fair and square.

Infestors were a pretty poor choice for Idra regardless IMO, since they can get blocked off by FF so easily or sniped off by other colossus once they're immobile. 150 gas each when he could've saved supply for getting a few corruptors 100 gas, or broodlords at 250 gas ea.
