Is the PvZ guide still relevant these days? I am awful vs zerg to the tune of a 25% win rate. I prefer macro games and I have trouble when the zerg goes for a three hatch and then overruns me with his army of roaches or hydras. I guess my main problem is I don't know when to take my third. If I open stargate against a 3 hatch, is a there a timing I should shoot for to get my third down? Also, what do I do against a zerg when he gets 10 corrupters which pretty much render my collosi useless? I'll upload a replay later if necessary. Thanks in advance.

The big PvZ guide is relevant for most FFE-related things, but HotS has kind of changed this matchup dramatically imo. General 3rd timing is no later than 10:00, and dealing with corruptors is about just retaining the colossus as best as possible then counterattacking. Here are some resources that might help you:

What's the proper response when the probe is late at the terran choke and cannot scout? I saw one marine pop-up and then I scouted again after a few seconds and I see more marines. Basically the terran had gone 3 barracks (1 tech lab) and pressured me non-stop. His small bio army arrived at my expo when I had one stalker and one sentry. My photon overcharge delayed the push but he just kept coming while taking his expo. I was going for a chargelot/HT play but is it better to get a colossus in this situation?

Marines take 25 seconds to build. If you check the ramp and see a marine and keep the probe alive that's good.

If you check 25 seconds later you will have an idea on his fax count. If he goes from 1 to 4 after 25 seconds it means his other 2 barracks finished marines and so did his first fax.

This would let you know - late expo lots of marines - pressure.

You don't have time to get colossus quickly for the first push or second one depending on how committed he is. You should focus on trying to get a solid stalker count so you can kite his marines mid map while teaching to colossus at home. Zealots with arm or will also do well so chargelot archon wasn't the issue.

Dying to this sort of thing often means you didn't control the centre of the map with stalkers or you supply blocked or floated very high in minerals.

If its super dedicated never expand kind of attack then you need to also recognise this and not over make probes and focus on getting your production going

A replay would help a lot in helping you here but it sounds like just a misread and having so little for the first attack put you behind.

Yes, I did stop the push fine but it was the constant pressure and my inability to mass units because of constant pressure. At some point I completely broke his push and tried to attack but my zealot archon forced got annihilated by widow mines (my mistake) and it was all downhill from there.I was just wondering if it's better to get colossus for a counterattack because chargelot/archons/HT just got kitted non-stop.

Oh I see.

Yeah colossus is much better in current meta. Widow mines have made chargelot centric compositions significantly weaker. Unless you are hitting an all in timing they really aren't worth it unless you know for a fact they have no factory making mines.

At 7:00 i'm have 2 Stalkers and 1 or 2 Sentryes...

It would help to have a little bit more information.

I typically open with 3 stalkers -> sentry. When he does the marine/marauder poke, you can just activate photon overcharge, run your probes away, and let your nexus deal most of the damage. Dealing with this push really isn't that hard. The scary part is the followup stim timing at 8:30-9:00, in which you probably won't quite have photon overcharge. The way to counter this is to simply get your additional gates on time (~7:30) and maybe grab an immortal just to be safe. If you can FF the ramp on a map like Habitation Station (only 2 FF), then you're in good shape to delay the push another 20 seconds and get photon overcharge.

Does anyone have a build order or a pro video ( I searched team liquid but couldn't find what I was looking for) of Gateway -> Nexus -> gas, pylon and cyber for PVT??? I have been playing with this opening a little bit lately and my win % is sky rocketing with it, but I want to know if there is a more optimal build than what I am currently doing..

I can't seem to find a video off the top of my head, but I can give you the variation I saw PartinG do a long time ago and copied:

    9 pylon
    14 gate
    17 gas
    17 nexus
    17 pylon (at natural to spot for bunker)
    18 core
    etc.


I think you can do 14 gate -> 17 nexus immediately and then go gases afterwards and it still lines up, but I'm not 100% sure. I hope this helps and gives you some insight!

Hi guys,

Yesterday I faced a problem while doing the Dear's 2-base Immortal all-in PvZ.
I warped in the 2 rounds of zealots in the Zerg's third, killed (not denied) the third base, and recalled the zealots after he made tons of lings. So far, perfect. Then, just after, I had my 3 immortals and I moved out to kill him. However, he went straight to hydras while retaking his 3rd base. No roaches at all. Just hydras and lings, and my army was destroyed leading to mid-late game where I was killed by an army of hydras, vipers and SHs.

It seems I have a big problem against hydras in early game, not sure if my force fields are too bad, but it seems hydras just evaporate my army all the time, even in small quantity.

So what exactly should I do if I see hydras during the immortal/sentry all in? Should I just return and tech to colossi while getting my own 3rd base? Or is it totally feasible to kill an army of ling/hydras with zealot/immortal/sentry/stalker?

With good forcefields you should be able to break him if your zealot timing did enough damage (which it sounds like it did). I can't say anything more without seeing a replay.
ModeratorProtoss all-ins are like a wok. You can throw whatever you want in there and it will turn out alright.
