Hi Jak;
I've swapped over to TheCore and my preference for it has grown slowly and steadily ever since. I have one question: you mention that just laddering is "among the worst ways" to get accustomed to the Core. Where should I be practicing, then? I'm currently playing ladder games using The Staircase, and before each session I spent ~20 minutes in the hotkey custom game you've linked and maybe 10 messing around in the marine split challenge. Would you say that's a good approach?
Thanks!

General Unbanished Set Rally Point. It's only intended for Terran though. Added Rapid Fire worker split to all layouts on the F-keys, and moved what's on the F-keys around a bit.
Protoss 2.0 for Protoss is finally here! Uses the index and ring finger for control groups, and middle and pinky for abilities.
Zerg Lots of changes to abilities for Zerg. E.g. Burrow/Unburrow and look-alike abilities have been moved. Upgrades have generally been moved to closer keys. Moved Base Cam to its intended position for Rapid Fire injects and added creep cameras.
Random Few bug fixes to abilities. Added an alternative for add to control group Hatch/Rax/Gate (Macro 1) using alt as modifier. Used for making cameras for newly created hatcheries, while adding them to their control group with alt alone. Added some missing alternative binds to cameras.
Terran No updates for Terran this time around, but planned up next is going to be making the first edition of 2.0 for Terran.
NorwegianQWERTY language removed Anyone who used this language should use Nordic. It's the exact same, but without errors. + Show Spoiler [details] +The data for NorwegianQWERTY and Nordic inside KeyboardLayouts.ini found in TheCore Remapper looked like this: [Nordic] [NorwegianQWERTY] AltGr=1 AltGr=1 Equals=BracketOpen SemiColon=Grave BracketOpen=BracketClose Apostrophe=Apostrophe BracketClose=SemiColon Minus=Equals SemiColon=Grave BracketOpen=BracketClose Grave=BackSlash BracketClose=SemiColon BackSlash=Slash Slash=Minus Slash=Minus BackSlash=Slash Minus=Equals Equals=BracketOpen Rearranging NorwegianQWERTY and removing the redundant "Apostrophe=Apostrophe" we get this: [Nordic] [NorwegianQWERTY] AltGr=1 AltGr=1 Equals=BracketOpen Equals=BracketOpen BracketOpen=BracketClose BracketOpen=BracketClose BracketClose=SemiColon BracketClose=SemiColon SemiColon=Grave SemiColon=Grave Grave=BackSlash BackSlash=Slash BackSlash=Slash Slash=Minus Slash=Minus Minus=Equals Minus=Equals Judging from this, and the fact that layouts with this language had things that shouldn't be on the same key on the same key, we concluded that the NorwegianQWERTY is essentially a broken copy of Nordic. In case we were wrong, let us know

In regards to the Protoss 2.0: Should the BuildBasic (O) -> Nexus(9) and BuildBasic(O) -> Forge(L) combos all be pressed with a repetition of the middle finger? Most of the other combinations you can just feel which fingers to use but the location of both 9 and L related to the O key feel like you have overlap another finger across the middle finger to not repeat using the middle finger for both keys in the sequence.

There are 2 buttons for build basic. Choose the right one to avoid finger repetition

Hey,
I have been looking at possibly going to some open bracket tournaments but I noticed that the rules say that you can't use scripts or custom game files... I know that the several pros are using this but does downloading the file from dropbox count as a "custom (game) file" or not
Here is where I was looking:
http://beta.esl.eu/eu/sc2/go4sc2/cup387/rules/
I know this is for the eu region and I'm in na region however I assume the rules are similar.
Thanks,
Hoppi

I can't figure out what upgrades have been changed for zerg, beed.
I want to make the argument again for SH burrow to be on the same key as regular burrow. The difference between ; and [ is not large at all, and I think that having them different may cause unwanted muscle memory.
|
they should still be on the same key as an alternate (burrows)
|
@Hoppi If TheCore was built exclusively from the in-game GUI, I wouldn't see a problem. However TheCore utilizes an indefinite number of alternative keybinds to a single command to support multiple rapid fire keys. This is done by manually editing the hotkey file in a text editor, which shady in my opinion. You could send them a support ticket through the link they provided.
@Ninjury_J Upgrades Following link should give a correct comparison of ZRM on GitHub from before and after. http://www.diffchecker.com/a9mymwis Look for things beginning with Evolve and Research
Did you make the file based on the sheet, or did you get it from GitHub? The file on GitHub was simply changed to reflect what was already in the sheets.
SH Burrow As JaK says, it's still an alternative, but which one should be the primary bind? I do think the alternates should be consistent with Terran transformer modes and Warp Prism which right now have the same binds, but swapped primary and secondary.

I play zerg and just downloaded the medium hotkey file for right handed players.... The control group 6 is not working for me. It's ctrl+shift+0 and 0 to recall it. But it's not binding at all for me. Anyone else have this problem? And even better anyone know why this is problem and how to fix it? I use all 10 control groups! It's very frustrating. I like the set-up though and want to use it.

I think you need to read the FAQ.

A bit more time to get the mind to learn with the alternate choice but I'm sure once I get it back into muscle memory it'll fly.
Next then I guess is the control group fingers, just so I'm getting it right the first time (the original core finger chart was pretty convenient): Am I correct in that the alternating between CG 1 & 2 (and most likely 3&4) is done with index and ring fingers rather than index and middle? I'm a bit lost on how the rest of the control groups fit in with the finger flow but I haven't played around with them much yet so that's a work in progress.
Edit: I think was answered by : "Uses the index and ring finger for control groups, and middle and pinky for abilities.", but I feel like I'm using CGs all wrong then. Should I for example be placing nexus on CG 1 and Production on CG 2 , army for 3 & 4, or splitting it like Nexus and Production on CG1 & 3 and army on 2 & 4?
Edit; (This is all using the current PRM 2.0)

@brook8128 That's an error. Not sure how it happened. I recommend you and all other 2.0 random users to change it back to F/K until it's fixed.
@Eruci I've added suggested CGs to the P.Overview sheet in TheCore Master Archive. Hope it helps

Thank you! There are 340+ pages in this thread, I thought about checking the FAQ but was sure it would be such a remote problem that it wouldn't be tehre... lol oh well. Thanks again!

I just talked to several admins on the ESL site and they have confirmed that the Core is a legal HotKey setup because it only uses 1 command per keystroke. Here is the exact email:
"Legion #2 | 13/07/14 04:58
Hello Hoppi466,
The core is a legal hotkey setup as only one action is performed per key press.
Best regards, Legion, ESL Admin"

If anyone else was wondering!!!!
Thanks guys,
Hoppi!

So.....rapidfire....is officially legal? :D
|
@eneyedeekay
According to what they said!!! Yes.
|
Ok, so just to confirm:
2.0 IS out for all races?
How do I download from the github link?
If 2.0 has been released, could you please update the "front page"?
|
@Hoppi @eneyeseekay Exciting :D Can't access link though.
@kalimann 2.0 is out for Random, Protoss and Zerg. No Terran as of yet.
+ Show Spoiler [Downloading hotkey file from GitHub] +1. Find your desired version. Click it. 2. Click "Raw" in top right corner, just above the file's contents 3. Right-click the file, save as.. or replace the contents of an existing file with the new one through copy paste.
