For TRM Qwerty, is there a specific reason why halt building and build reactor are both H? When I want to build a reactor immediately after a building completes, I want to hold down H but then I cancel building and have to go put the worker back on it.
I'll probably just remap it but was curious if this was intentional or not.

I'll be coming out with more of these on Tutorial Central Sc2 so far there are 2: There are tons of custom maps out there. Darglein makes some good deliberate practice ones. I recently found a cool warp-in one by Buddhist. And there is one linked in the OP for learning hotkeys by Pibbingston. I also consider TheStaircase to be an exercise in deliberate practice. Fuck, we might want to make a post in its own just for deliberate practice discussion. Doing it! Will link Please let me know if you make a dedicated thread for Deliberate practice.
I am huge fan of this, am love discussing ways to put deliberate practice to good use. I will check out the warp in drill, I already use hotkey trainer.
I also use Hots Unit Tester, load up like outnumbered armies against mine, And I deliberately work on using 3 CG to use my force fields, storms, and graviton beams. If you don't use them correctly you will die. This helps with CG usage as well as using correct abilities and army placement. It is quite boring, but well worth it.

In the HotS Unit Tester you can play against AI, or you need a buddy?
I'm going to write up a sweet OP to get us started and then we can really start to work together to improve how we use deliberate practice in Sc2 :D
@emathey Can't believe we missed that. Will fix in 1.1 :D

Is there known control group bugs? I'm new. I can't create a control group using Control + Shift + 0.

sorry I didn't read the faq.

Its called Hots Unit Tester I believe. You can set predfined armies that can be saved and reloaded on demand. You can set energy to full at start, and reset battles at anytime resetting the army composition. You can change the terrain and yes you can have the AI control the other Army, or you can Pause it and issue a series of orders then unpause and micro your army in real time.
All of this can seriously improve your ability to swap CG and use proper force fields, psi storms, phoenix lifts.
I try to make it so hard that if I don't use proper control I just die. Also when you kill the army, it gives you how much cost you have left and supply counts, so you can try to best your own record.
Its quite fun at times, and you can really create some unique situations to work on. Whether is blink macro, stopping drops, force field usage, kiting , phoenixes, or you just wanna test a unit composition vs another unit composition to see how it would do, then reset it and try again.

This thread has gotten a bit long. Is there a maintained list of practice maps or other trainers somewhere?

Hi JaKaTaK,
may I offer you an adaption to German keyboard layouts for all races, large, middle, small, left & right hand? I would need the information as well as the draft you used to create [e.g.] http://imgur.com/HQ570tE.
Proud TheCore user for a couple of hours from Germany.

when i attempt to set up a "Centered Camera" i press the "ALT" key... this instantly moves the camera to my Command Center. As a result, I can not create Centered Camera" locations. I then have to drag the screen over to where i want the camera centred. and then finally i can "Alt + Key" to create my centered camera.
the dragging is a lot of work.

@Lancer That's awesome. Definitely going to be doing that to improve my mothership core control.
@Apromixately check out the resources section of the OP
@propagare
@lamprey1 check out the video "Your First Game"

Your mentioned file at 0:53 (computerhope.com/qwerty.gif) isn't linked under your video fmpov.
Another question: Is it intended to use the Protoss keyboard layouts in: Control Groups, Abilites, and Cameras - Random - Right Handed..?
PS Regarding TheCore for Terran 1.0: Maybe a bug? 'Create Centered Camera=Alt+Key' but (German keyboard layout) it is AltGr+Key in the German TRM layout. You got my file asap, or did I got something wrong? I want to provide the correct Germany visual keyboard references, right? The in-game hotkeys are fine fmpov.

Here is the map link starcraft://map/1/203092
For anyone who does not know, past that into any chat in game and you can link directly to this map on Americas server.

Hi, i don't understand i download zrm on azerty keyboard and it unbind all my hotkey :o what i missed ? and don't bind keybind of thecore :o)

I'm coming from Fleet Keys.
One of the things I loved about Fleet Keys was the smart key. Does The Core have something like that? The things I struggle with in the core is that so many keys I used to have close to home row are far away. Halt for stutter step, and Move for following the frontline units. In fleetkeys if I picked a wrong key I could just hit space and it would null or cancel it all out. With the core if I make a mistake I get deer in the headlights for 2 seconds. Then for 2 seconds I'm trying to reach for the 7 key. Then for two seconds I'm hitting the proper key combo. Why is move (C) so far away on TRM?
|
What is the role / purpose of the whole army? I thought it was a noob key. Does it have a use for advanced play? At first I would think it would be great for grabbing newly produced army units. But it would suck if you grabbed units at towers and other map control spots.

It's true whole army isn't the greatest key. I think it's where it is because there wasn't much else to put there and there could be a few situations where it's useful.

For the purpose of executing a follow/escort action hotkey move is superior because it's universal
Don't like right mouse click follow because it causes medivac to gobble units instead of following them.
You can attack click using medivac or raven but if you use attack click using anything else that causes target unit to have a bad day obviously.
|
Using attack move with medivac/raven for following purposes makes the move command irrelevant and therefore makes the layout as a whole more efficient. If you want to use the move command dispite this, you'll have to do a bit of customization (most people do some customization to fit their style).
The "Smart Key" doesn't make FleetKeys any more efficient or provide any benefit other than the most common or important ability will be on 2 keys. In TheCore, we simply put the most common or important command on the fastest key, so there's no need for another slower alternate binding.
You also say that so many keys are far from home. All the keys in TheCore are either on the homekeys or adjacent to the homekeys with very few exceptions. What are these keys that you are reaching for?

Thanks for the quick reply jakatak. The 8 key felt far but with a few days practice and twisting the keyboard back just right I'm able to hit 8 more accurately.
