I really like the spreadsheet idea. I think establishing a template would be great to include in the OP's, especially after a game is over. As it is, it's rather a pain to look through a game to see the order of events (who died when and how and all the necessary links).
To be clear, I'm looking at this as an item the host uses to record the game as it goes, and after the game is over the completed thing is posted in the OP for everyone's viewing pleasure. That way someone can refer to it to see exactly how the game panned out. Of course, individuals can use this template for themselves for taking notes as they are playing the game.
I'd definitely be down for this, especially since some hosts *coughblazinghandcough* can get very lazy about updating their OP.
On the subject of themed games.
Recent attempts to fill up themed games have been met with resistance. And not just in the past few weeks but in the past few months on the whole. Most themed games where the player count is over 20 don't seem to fill to what the hosts want, which is problematic cause the setup usually demands numbers (as opposed to normal games where you can just start with a smaller number of players and balance accordingly).
Why is this happening? Probably mostly because we have a normal mini queue and clearly people always want to play those games. So the average player (who is not VE and can play in 5 games at once cause he does nothing at work) who only can afford to play in one game at a time will go for a normal game. Of course I'm just generalizing here based on what I've observed. That said I think we have run more games in the past 1.5 months than in any other 1.5 month period.
What should be done about this? I'm looking for ideas and suggestions here. Upfront my instinct says, let's just scrap the Themed game queue (and keep the mini themed game queue). Then, if you want to host a large themed game you make it pseudo invite-only. That is, you need to go out of your way to get at least a good chunk of players to play in your game ahead of time. Otherwise just forget about it. The issue here is that I'm inclined to believe that if the Themed queue gets scrapped then the Normal queue might get scrapped sooner or later, cause people will just want to play in the mini games and large games will become a thing of the past. I might be over-thinking this though. Alternatively we can just keep things the way they are. Put up the game, if there's no interest just move on to the next one.
On that note, there's space on the Normal Mini queue if someone wants to host.

I can host a normal mini if someone wants to co-host and do everything for me.
Unless we at some point specified what a "normal" game is, because I don't agree with that.
Edit:
[M][N] I'm A Cop You Idiot Mafia 2
Open setup Night start 7-8 players Instant Majority No strange roles
I haven't decided exactly which setup I want, I need to run through some play-through simulations of a vigilante variation to make sure it works. If it does it's probably a very fun setup to play.
Edit: and I need co-hosts. The usual caveats apply: ie: you will basically host the game for me, and you must be okay with looking up Arnold pictures all the time.

On that note, there's space on the Normal Mini queue if someone wants to host. For the record, this is exactly why my LoL themed game filled up so quickly; because I knew there was hype and I had known generated interest beforehand. Now I'm not really sure if my game filled up during a time where themed games don't fill up anymore or it was the 'last of its kind,' but I agree that this is the kind of thing that should be done. It may simply be that people only like a specific type of game or are only interested in those hosted by specific players---the upcoming Catastrophe for example.

I personally just don't like big games, although the chances of me playing in one go up exponentially if it has an interesting setup (read: Themed). And by interesting setup, I mean something that offsets the "large game" aspect which pretty much means an overabundance of power roles and/or KP.
It would definitely be a shame if all the big games died out though

Greymist's game will fill up fast.

Big games dying out means I waited three months to host TL 66 for nothing

I'm in favor of scrapping the normal mini queue and only hosting large theme games.

Aperture Mafia 2: Episode 2 took a little over three weeks to fill and I would consider that a game a lot of people really wanted to play. I think it's pretty much as Fool said, large Themed games are just taking a lot longer to fill nowadays if they fill "completely" at all.
I don't know what the solution is to this large game issue. Maybe make them 20ish players as opposed to the 30ish players they have been traditionally. I'm honestly considering doing that for my game because it seems like it might not get 30 players, but is has only been a week, so one can always hope.

Normal mini games should be a privilege, rather than a right. If you want a normal mini to open up, you first have to suffer through Insane Sleeper Cell Pick Their Power World At War 5.

Yes
I want every game to be a Pick Their Power variation. Please.
Normal mini games can go 'eff themselves, I already lose enough of them

What happen to large theme games not to be that popular? EDIT: Saw foolishness posts. Is there also just less players in TL mafia?

Or just promise to give nude pics to the Town/Mafia MVP.
You won't complain about TL Mafia performances again.
