I think its as foolishness said. There is now a continuous stream of well hosted, well thought out normal mini games. With the queue the way it is now people will more often then not already be involved in a game by the time a large game rolls around.
I'm not sure what can be done, or if anything should be done. Perhaps some sort of plan where we have 2 minis going on at once, but every other cycle of games we work in a big game, alternating themed/normal.
In unrelated news I've got 1 cohost request. That's probably fine, but I would like 1 more if at all possible. I don't want to eat into my player base too much

Pick me! I won't be able to put in the time to play, but I can cohost!

At this point I'm more inclined to just scrap the Themed queue. If you want to go through the effort to host a large game you join the mini themed queue as usual, then do the necessary advertisement to get people to play (else face the wraith of a caller game).

I'm not sure if there's less players or not. As I said I think that since the start of the new year we've had more games than any other 1.5 month period in history. Though upon just glancing through the history this may not be true, but it still looks like we're going through games pretty fast now. Whether there's a bigger player base or just the same people playing over and over is hard to say. But it doesn't look like this is the issue.

I don't think this has much to do with themed games as it does with large games in general. Other than LoL, large games have been taking longer and longer to fill up because they've been decreasingly fun to play. Just to be clear, is this just going to nix just the large themed games or will it nix the themed minis as well?
I'm personally against altering the queue at all because it's how this place has been working for years upon years and there has never been a problem with it before and there's clearly not a problem with it now so clearly some upstart is just trying to change this place for no reason.
Please add [M][T]Handslaps & Fisticuffs: a PYP mini to the queue... Was this too early? I'm confused as to when exactly I'm supposed to be fighting for a spot to get a game on the queue

I actually have a query to look at unique players over a certain period of time. Once the games get added to the database, we could find out.
I have noticed that newbie signups have been absolutely brutal the last six months. Since October, we've hosted only three games. LI opened for signups on November 9th and didn't actually start until January 6th. It's getting to the point where the people that signed up when the thread was created are long gone by the time the game is actually ready to start, which in turn delays the start even longer. The latest mini game was only 9 players and still took a month to fill. Shadow may have had a small impact on the player base, but the majority of the players would not have been newbie eligible anyways.

geript, the queue has been full whenever you've been trying to add your game.

Please add [M][T]Handslaps & Fisticuffs: a PYP mini to the queue... Was this too early? I'm confused as to when exactly I'm supposed to be fighting for a spot to get a game on the queue Just the large games. The Mini Themed queue will stop operate as usual. And actually if there's only a themed mini queue we can probably run through that faster than with both of them.
I feel like the themed games usually get a burst of signups right away (say anywhere between 5 and 15) and then signups trickle in at a very slow pace. Hopefully it's enough to get the mini games going. Proper advertisement also helps signups...just PMing someone and asking them to play can go a long way.
I'm working on doing some advertising with dailymafia.com and the new, serious live mafia games starting next week. Hopefully that will generate some interest over time.
From the OP: *Note 1) limit of 3 games in the queue per game type (to avoid a laundry list of games in the queue)
I'll just go ahead and give you the next spot cause you're being patient and I like you.

[M][N] Cultured Mini Mafia is open for signups.
I'm looking for two cohosts, at least one of whom can post votecounts between 14:00 GMT (+00:00) and 22:00 GMT (+00:00).
Looking for one more cohost now. Timezone not a huge issue. Got enough cohosts now

I know I have TL LXVI on there, but Ver's probably won't start for a while, and mine won't start until later after that.
So until then, can I get [M][N] III Titanic Mini Mafia: MS Paint Edition on the queue?

With apologies to purplhz (and thanks for all his work, hopefully someone will make use of PostmasterBot), I'm removing Classified Mafia from the queue.
|
With Classified out of the way I think there's currently a slot for. Please add [M][T]Handslaps & Fisticuffs: a PYP mini to the queue.
I know you said it was my slot next anyways, but I figured I should probably post it here regardless. Thanks Foolishness.
