5.16 is the "hit the nuke button and change the whole game right before Worlds" button that Riot likes to hit every year it seems like.

I think the MR/Armor item changes are going to be good overall and might help the game in the long run, but these are changes that should occur AFTER Worlds, not right before it.

Cinderhulk changes basically nerfed it into the ground. The only reason people bought it was for the late game health scaling. Now that the scaling is down by 40%, it's not worth building unless you get Warmogs along with it, what with the other nerfs to the items that gave MR/Armor along with HP (Randuins, SV, BV, Locket).

Arcade Riven and Schoolgirl Ahri are money grabs... Ones that I will have to buy. So, gg Riot, found a way to have fans give you even more money.

I don't feel like looking at how Darius is late game, but almost every single change from the list aims at smashing his lane bully status.
I agree that it was a bit too oppressive, straight-up removing some champions from the lane barring swaps or heavy camping, but the game needs lane bullies, in the same way it needs mostly-skillshot champions (hi Ryze). What's next, smashing Pantheon because he still has some match-ups he can actually bully until level 5?
Also "thematically". When was Darius a blood-crazed madman? For all we know he's actually a ruthless, very methodical military officer. That'd actually break character if Riot paid attention to that (hello GP). x)

The Villain mechanic on Garen is arbitrary and dumb as bricks (but hey, it helps him come back if he dies in lane! ... till someone else on your team dies elsewhere so pointless). The changes to Judgement are... really? I don't care if it's a buff or a nerf, but the spam of "that thing becomes better at levels X, regardless of whether or not you put points in it" is a very ugly way to switch power curves around as they like.
I'd rather see things like using bonus AD ratios, and making them increase non-linearly with levels (say a spell's ratio doubles when it reaches level 4, so the ratio is low enough early that a brutaliser won't make you huge, and since it's a bonus AD ratio you can play around the base too), than giving bonuses at seemingly random times.
Especially when they have to make Garen slower when he's hitting someone, wtf.

Mordekaiser's W can't be self-cast anymore it seems? And no more resistances bonus.

Skarner's passive is dumb. Sure, "picking him changes the way the game is played", but really?
I dislike the changes to his shield. It's basically Nautilus' now, with a shorter cd and without the "damage" on (h)it, but a MS buff instead.

Warmog's condition for the passive is... some other arbitrary shit and have I posted already about how ugly design decision for the sake of shoving band aids in your throat to get what they want is?

I don't like the idea of encouraging Mord as an ADC alternative. Seems like a cop out choice for people who can't play adc or don't know how to kite. Just play a tanky mage that's kind of an anticarry.

So let me get this Skarner thing straight. They're reducing his base MS, removing the MS passive on his Q, and removing his move speed component on W. In exchange you have to deal with some point capture mechanics that give him MS and AS ONLY in those areas.

Seems like a pretty shitty thing to do to Skarner. I guess Righteous Glory is going to become core on him after the patch.

am I reading this right? completing glory removes catalyst passive??? we finally got away from manaless only tops and you are nerfing both tank items that give mana (FH also nerfed)

You only complete Glory when you start fighting/TPing and not as your very first item so it doesn't change that much.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

Yeah, you finish Shroud/Cowl, and boots1, and stuff, so your Glory is actually 2k later than just your Catalyst. Sure, you're only level 11 or so when you finish it, but at that point the other level ups won't be as impactful, since apart from really passive games (in which case you prob don't need to finish Glory yet) laning's started to break down.

Until towers are down and/or you plan on important TP plays (generally because you have a plan around a bot lane dive into dragon or something), you can generally assume you wouldn't be using Glory if you had it. I'd say it's more about knowing when to complete it and put it to use immediatly, a timing/roaming thing, more so than getting it early.

as for the changes to 'juggernauts' who will still be top lane, I'm not sure I'd take the true damage trade over 1 second of silence to keep someone trapped in my E, I say that as someone who thinks Garen is underrated on live so idk, mabye I overestimate his current power. I also dislike as a game design unmarrying an abilities power from points spent in it so the tics per level change annoys me.

Darius on the other hand is super intriguing. He lost a TON of lane damage I can't even begin to comprehend why hilt damage % got nerfed on top 213 damage nerf to blade damage and a cast time. Q seems really over nerfed, but, if he can lane thanks to the heal added (although it is questionable with the cast time and the heal being blade hits only) He sounds like he could be pretty fun to play in a team fight, although losing the movespeed on his passive and the ability to put hemorage on someone with the hilt on Q makes me question if it will end up being as cool as it sounds.

I'm going to remain optimistic with Darius but I feel like they need to let up on the compensatory nerfs without getting to try it yet

I know Zeke's harbinger has been talked about to be pretty damn strong, but I don't necessarily agree with the support getting it. A lot of lanes or jungle picks that goes AP such as Elise, Orianna, Nidalee, Gragas, Azir, etc can get this and bind to the ADC and/or bruiser/physical damage top laner.

I don't think in a fair fight, a team with 2 harbinger's can lose with 4 people getting the buff in the middle of a team fight. The thing about the support getting it is that they get it usually after laning phase, so the ADC doesn't really benefit from it, and the 20% increased AP doesn't help any support except like a 60+ min Janna support that has AP items.

Edit: The thing about Zeke's Harbinger that I realized is that you want someone that is building AP to build it and you want a physical damage dealer to bind it to. The stats are actually fairly decent for AP carries and they actually benefit a decent amount with the 20% increase in AP. The 50% crit however is way more powerful then the additional AP, so you want someone that has physical damage.

Well cinderhulk was kind of a dumb item. It's like you get it and be like 10-15% tankier than a laner or don't get it and not be 10-15% tankier as a tank.

Same with sated devourer and on-hit champions. Get it and be good with on-hit or don't and not be as good.

Can you imagine if deathcap were jungler only? Or IE?

I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

yea, I think Darius might be ok. When he has bloodrage passive on, he gets insane amounts of bonus stats. But I'm not sure whether he'll actually be able to get bloodrage reliably since his attack speed is drastically nerfed, Q has also been nerfed in terms of activating his passive.

Skarner and Garen got gutted. Morde is interesting and could potentially be good enough for competitive play imo. That dragon ghost is pretty nuts and his Q does a shitton of damage.

I'm hoping the pbe time gives us a Darius Q somewhere between this and live, as is I think he got punished too hard for the buffs he got, bloodrage is a pretty crazy buff, but like you said they significantly nerfed his ability to actually aquire a 5 stack or close on someone, even if he does become bloodraged in a lot of instances he will have used either his E or W or both to get into that state, how does he aquire the next target?
