Two months ago Ekko and Tahm Kench weren't even out yet, C9 was 1-1, and LeBlanc was a high priority pick/ban in NA LCS. that's HIS point. the months leading up to worlds don't reflect how the entire rest of the season was played. The records teams earned up to that point are effectively meaningless and are not at all reflective of the quality of play we are to expect after several major overhauls to the meta and champion balance.

Since Darius now has 5.0 AD/lvl scaling and his q now does 1.0<->1.4 total AD scaling whereas before he has 1.05 bonus AD scaling. At level 9 darius will have about 80-100 base AD which will be worth 110-140 extra damage on his q and at level 18 he will have like 150 AD for an extra 210 damage on his Q. (Plus the potential extra 40-200 AD he will get from max bleed stacks). So it's a nerf, and it's a lot harder to use, and you don't get any move speed to close gaps anymore. but it's not quite so large as it seems

We want to make sure we’re clear: playing games of League of Legends should be the unequivocal best way for a player to improve. While there are very real skills one can develop in a hyperbolic time chamber, we never want that to be an expectation added onto an already high barrier to entry. On an individual level, we know this isn’t always true – some just want a space to practice flashing over walls without having to wait at least 3.6 minutes in between – but when that benefit is weighed against the risk of Sandbox mode ‘grinding’ becoming an expectation, we just can’t accept the tradeoff. 10/10 BS Riot.

"were lazy and its a shitty feature that would waste a lot of resources for minimal gain" would be better. Which is exactly what I think too. sandbox mode for a MOBA is stupid.

What that they have publicly said in the last year would lead you to believe they are anything but 100% invested in that statement? Do we forget the hilarious ghostcrawler stuff from less than a month ago?

We used to go into a map in Cod4 and just practice nades for hours in "sandbox" mode. You telling me cod4 is so much more complex than League so it makes sense? Don't go full Riot please. Let riot say the dumb shit and laugh at them. Does it scare people off, the idea that there's a practice mode in the game to focus on particular skills? We all say no, because we're here on TeamLiquid, but what about the rest of the 67 million players, many of whom aren't in ranked? How many will see that being released and quit the game because they don't want to feel like they have to practice that stuff?

It's a totally different approach towards the idea of "being good at League of Legends", one that is explicitly and unashamedly focused at people who do NOT read Reddit or TeamLiquid. It's a shame that it'll just get meme-ified like COMPETITIVE INTEGRITY BOYZ, because there's a good discussion to be had here about the barriers to entry. Yea it is the classic "we don't give a shit about what the old players want" yet they don't increase ip gain/make more bundles/make runes cheaper/make rune page 2 for 1 permanent if you are a new player to make it easier to get in to.

"Casual" people just don't even know what it is or care about it. Hell I just gave an example of Call of Duty, the biggest fking casual shooter around having it and no one is scared off. It's such a horseshit argument. It's the same strawman fearmongering you see politicians use to get votes. Create an imaginary enemy/problem to a relatively simple thing in order to get people afraid of this imaginary enemy/problem that just doesn't exist so you keep them under your control without ever doing anything.

See, I love the drama this stirs up. Announcing no plans to implement a sandbox mode = literally 1984 Is it not inconceivable that people want to play for fun and not take the game seriously? I just wanna play beer pong, but everyone else in my frat is constantly practicing and so I feel like if I want to play with them I gotta take it as seriously as they do. I don't mind playing to get better but I don't want to spend my time honing skills in a non-drinking environment. So maybe I go play something else instead. To clarify: in no way is this my philosophy. I would play the shit out of the sandbox mode (and would be looking up and practicing optimal beer pong cup arrangements). But I would not be surprised if a lot of people think this way. I mean, I can't imagine people not playing ranked, and yet most of the people that I have met in real life that also happen to play League never play ranked.

The whole point of beer pong is to get drunk while dicking around so that doesn't make any sense. There is this mode called ranked and a mode called normal. And most people that don't play that I know don't want to start because of the insane requirements of things that you need to own to not be disadvantaged.
