why isn't there a live audience for LCS?
They don't have the facilities. For EU, Riot's lucky that they get to piggy back off of ESL. ESL has an arena in both Germany and Poland. imba...
Not sure if really lucky tho. Yes they got the studio and it's very good, but they get the ESL organization and all the problems that come with it... NA LCS chain games very quickly, EU LCS have neverending pause between games, it's horrible...
There are so many universities and colleges in California. I am sure Riot can rent a stadium for 2 days every week with ease. The problem is manpower and whether or not live audience has benefits.
No, last time Riot rented out a place for a tourney, the internet crapped all over everything and they had to wait for the owner to deal with the internet. I seem to remember them having to waive a whole day of games because of it.
I think if Riot is going to hold an event, they need to hold all the cards.
I'm sure they will practice online, but IT'S NOT THE SAME!
I wonder what the reasoning is? Seems very unprofessional to do something like this. It's a pretty serious allstars imo; not having a bootcamp really hurts NA's chances.
I guess I went through all the trouble of making this for the OGN thread, I might as well post it here.
Here are general instructions on how to watch streams via VLC (better hardware acceleration than flash via browser, so usually better quality streams, also seems to skip ads)
Download + Install VLC :here Make sure you remember install path of VLC; Standard install path is: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\VideoLAN\\VLC\\vlc.exe Download rtmpdump.exe: here Extract the rtmpdump zipfile. Reallocate "rtmpdump.exe" anywhere you want; I keep it in this directory: C:\\temp\\rtmp\\rtmpdump.exe Make a new note in notepad; Use this guy's awesome script for fetching all the commands: here Copy'n'paste in the provided script into the notepad. Save note. Change .txt to .bat file through rename; (might have to change some windows setting to see file extension and allow file extension modification through rename function) Instructions are here Run the .bat file.

I dunno. Part of me thinks it's kind of shitty because I'm sure Regi assumes TSM won't need the extra slot because they're gonna get 1st place in summer LCS play offs npnp. Throw in the fact that TSM has literally nothing to train for during that period of time and it makes even less sense. I'd be a bit more understanding if Dignitas or CLG went into relegation and they didn't let scarra/Doublelift go since they would want to practice hardcore for that but TSM doesn't even have to worry about relegation.
At the same time though, two and a half weeks is a lot of time to not practice with your team so I can understand where they're coming from. And it's highly unlikely NA would win anyways.
Or maybe tsm just feel like they need all the practice they can get?EU are just playing some games online as far as I know(dunno if they even will tbh).

Also it's probably because of the gamecribs cameras.
They wouldn't be that serious if Riot didn't put something as important as another regional Worlds slot on the line.
Remember just BEING at Worlds is worth $25,000, even if you place dead last when you're there.

Yeah, pretty much agreed. I would have like for them to take it seriously, but I see why they probably don't want to do it. Oh well, maybe next year Riot will remove all the stakes and we can just have NA play an all Yordle team or something.

Just reminds me of that one time when TSM's like "oh Korean teams aren't that great"; gets their asses handed to them hard by blaze; "oh korean teams still not that good"; continues winning against NA teams; goes back to worlds; gets shamed on again. Why are we surprised? TSM work ethic is joke.

The bootcamp was actually just scheduled for 1 week (12th-19th). Summer split doesn't start until June 20th. It doesn't make sense for TSM to cancel for any timing reasons. This is pure speculation but I think TSM is afraid their strategies might be leaked during bootcamp.

Yeah but isn't all stars like a two day event? Plus the day it'll take to fly there and back. So we're talking about nearly two weeks, right? TSM can't get practice during all-stars but missing 4-5 days of practice is a bit more manageable than missing 11-12 days of practice.
I'm not a TSM fan by any stretch but I can kind of understand why they wouldn't want to do it. Although if TSM takes a vacation after play offs they'll lose so much of my respect after bailing on this.
edit: Yeah the timing is weird but honestly any LCS team that isn't practicing just as hardcore as during LCS during the break is silly. Epecially TSM considering how underwhelming they were during the first half of the LCS season. I honestly think part of Curse's success was because they were the only one of the big four that had to hardcore practice to get through relegations.

Then don't spend time practicing strategies, just practice synergy! :-/. There's so much they can practice if they just try. Makes me kind of despise the NA pro scene. I won't feel bad if they lose for acting like progaming is just free money free fame.

Ignore all the stuff below. Boot camping is on again. North America will perform better than most expect to if they make good use of this.
There is a chance to qualify directly the round of eight if you do not finish last, as well as the possibility of gaining an additional spot. I really don't understand why Reginald would not allow even a week or two of bootcamping, since North America is really the only region with a realistic opportunity of a thourough boot camping experience, and that would allow them to have an advantage over the other regions. Realistically speaking, it's not that likely that the North American team would defeat the Chinese one (due to multiple factors), but I think they have a realistic chance (perhaps not overwhelminingly likely, but still managable) of defeating whoever drops into the loser's bracket from the match between Europe and Korea.
Korea 1) The North American members have personal experience playing against Shy, Ambition, inSec, PraY, and Madlife. These players also happen to be on successful teams, meaning that it is far easier to study them through watching VODs right up to the week before the All Stars Championship begins. Preparing the strategies, knowing the limitations and assessing the strengths of these players will be infinately easier than preparing for the likes of Faker, Expession, and Imp, who are in my opinion superior in terms of form and skill as of now. 2) All the players belong to four different teams, each of which are in a position to advance to the round of eight. The opportunity to boot camp will be nearly non-existant, assuming that the scenario of KT Rolster B, CJ Entus Frost, CJ Entus Blaze, and Najin Sword all conveniently dropping at the round of 12 to ensure a week to boot camp, does not happen. If the above mentioned teams do happen to go through to the latter rounds, there will be high tension amongst the qualified teams since they will be facing each other in the round of four immediately after the All Stars Championships comes to a close.
Europe 1) All of the selected players for the European team can be studied to an extensive degree. Doublelift must have had as much exposure to Yellowpete as any player in the world, Scarra has faced Alex Ich multiple times, and the vast collection of LCS VODs can be broken down by the players and their coach at their leisure. 2) I can't fathom how three Russians, a German, and a French guy, all of whom don't have English as their first language will decide where to boot camp. There's no readily accessable environment they can practice in without having to worry about family, travel, and hefty financial costs. A month of developing team chemistry, and thourough preparation and research could really abuse the lack of proper boot camping practice from the other regions. 3) None of these guys speak English as their first language. Three of them are used to playing competitive games by communicating in Russian. Without any boot camping to iron these issues out, the European team will have issues playing as a unit.
A team playing together for a month, researching and discussing the best method to approach the upcoming All Stars Championship would have such a headstart. There's no ongoing season to worry about, a month of free time, a vast collection of VODs and personal experience that can be used to research and theorycraft, no language barriers, and a relatively hassle free way of boot camping. Why the hell is Reginald deciding to throw away this golden opportunity only available to North America away?

I don't think that word means what you think it means.
If you want some real hipster shit play Galio or Swain. They can go mid and top and no one plays them. And they're both strong imo.
