I don't think that word means what you think it means. If you want some real hipster shit play Galio or Swain. They can go mid and top and no one plays them. And they're both strong imo.
haha i haven't played this game since months, but i heard they weren't popular naymore?

I still see a lot of Kat but according to lolking Ahri is actually more popular than her. Katarina, Lux, Kha'zix, and Zed are common picks in solo queue and competitive play though. A lot of people in the community think that Zed and maybe Kha'zix are OP. Lux just got nerfed because she was deemed too strong. Not many people play Syndra, Fizz, and Cassiopeia right now.
Galio and Swain were my suggestions because both of them can mid lane and both of them can top lane. They are uncommon picks for various reasons but Galio brings solid damage and one of the best ults in the game to his team (also if you can get chalice and a few levels you can just shove lane and then go roam) whereas Swain deals massive single target damage and can act as his team's second tank (which is very rare of a mid laner). They both obviously have weaknesses and they probably aren't as powerful or as easy to fit into various team comps as the current popular mid/top laners like Zed or Kha but both Galio and Swain are still really strong if you know how to play them.

Don't think a "boot camp" is going to overcome the massive gaps in knowledge/skill/experience that Korean/Chinese/SEA teams are going to have.
NA might luck out against EU but there's no way that any of the reasons mentioned above is going to have a noticeable impact on how well NA does against the Asian teams. I just don't think any of the players in the NA all star have any comparable skill (even Dlift) with any player from the other teams, and I think that at the end of the day, individual skill is going to make a bigger impact than teamplay.
Win lane win game imo

People forgot the terror of Galio after a few nerfs resulted in him going from fotm to absolutely no one playing him ever. Spamming, "You should come back with more bad guys," after every gank attempt. Building MR and getting free AP to make your opposing mid laner cry. Shoving waves harder than anyone ever thought possible. Then having entire teams kill themselves with your ult.
Yeah, he's a douche but he's my douche.

NA really should practice as to try and not place last. At least the other teams will be spending the least amount of time researching/practicing against NA so that's a little consolation I guess.

I actually want to see NA get stomped. I think there's been a lot of people, even pros, who kind of are on the fence about saying whether other regions are better or not. It kind of feels a bit off when they seem to imply like "Oh yeah, they might be better, but we can still win" or "Oh, well if we just do X" or blame it on some other third thing.

Sounds like the perfect time for solo ranked. You got this.

Well thourough preparation plays a big role in deciding results in my opinion. A well researched strategy, with smart mind games in the picks and bans goes a long way. Gambit Gaming's triumph in IEM Katowice was not due to them playing at their absolute peak form (they did very poorly in the group stages), but more to do with the research they had on the limitations of the AD carries of Frost/Blaze, Diamondprox reading CloudTemplar/Helios like a book (partly due to research, although this is pure speculation, CloudTemplar has very predictable jungle routes), and the itemization and team composition the Korean teams were not used to. Najin Sword later borrowed Gambit Gaming's strategy to completely demolish Frost in the finals.
Sure Gambit Gaming is an excellent team. But a large part of what decided the winner was the level of specific preparation for their opponents. The bootcamping is not just about grinding out the hours to become as emmaculate as Uzi in terms of mechanics, but doing research, discussing the best method of approaching their enemy, and sharing ideas. Imagine the minds of Curse Gaming, CLG, TMS, and Dignitas all united and preparing for a month in advance. I could easily see that team being just as scary as any other, if they prepared really well, perhaps apart from the Chinese. You cannot dismiss the power of the homefield advantage. Surely gaining a seeding into the round of eight is worth fighting for, even if gaining an additional qualification slot is a long shot (it's a long shot for any team other than China in my opinion).
I'm afraid to write any more. I now have a phobia of things changing as I write.

MPen Mundo. Sorc shoes -> Liandry's and transition into appropriate tank items. (Sunfire, Visage, etc). MPen Reds/Blues and even Quints if you want/can afford.
