You don't see your opponents borders.

They told us. Also, I'd like to quote Teut as his post is kinda relevant right now + Show Spoiler +People generally use elo the wrong way. Elo is a great self analysis tool since it basically never lies to you. You lie to yourself all the time. Just because you were X elo at S2 doesn't mean you are losing because of random teammates. You might be playing different roles or champs for example and your level might have dropped.
Playing to get elo is what is toxic and causes you to rage and enjoy games less and also make you get worse at the game. This is because games are played under the assumption you are already good enough to win the game and you are just basically grinding out the hours to get to your "true elo" and every time you lose 1 game you suddenly "have" to win 2 more to get higher and then if you lose again it gets frustrating. Thats why everyone should do the reverse. Use elo for self analysis and games to improve. Instead of using games for elo and games for self analysis ("teammates fed, couldn't do anything" when if you played better in the first place the game might not have snowballed )
|
If you're 7-1, but that 1 death is getting picked off for free when your team needed you to carry them in a baron teamfight (because you're so fed and they aren't), that 1 death could easily cost the team the game. You gotta lead the team to stick together late game, and that usually won't happen if you were yelling at them for feeding early.
Also, Elo is measuring your win rate against other players' elo. If you're 1500 elo [stable] then you're winning roughly 50% of the time vs. other 1500 players.
I don't know what the k-values are for LoL, but generally if you're 100 elo higher than someone, you should be able to win against them around 60% of the time. The thing is, this is across a LARGE sample size, and says nothing about going on a 10 game losing streak and slowly recovering across 50 games. Also keep in mind, almost all players have a significant level of inconsistency in their own play skill - probably including you.

+ Show Spoiler [Off topic and long] +Everyone,
I'm sorry about my recent behavior. I don't want to get into specifics (though I'm sure I have at one point or another), but I have been going through a very bad time recently. There's... more wrong with me than I'm willing to admit, and I'm sorry if I took it out on anyone in particular.
I've come to realize that this community (specifically KMD and TL LoL) contains people that I'd consider friends, even if we've never met in person or talked directly in any way. I'd just like to say thank you to all of those who helped me realize this. I'm seeking help for my issues, and I think it's (at least in part) thanks to this community that I've kept from getting too bad. So thanks, to the people that treated me like a person, even during the times that I didn't even think that highly of myself.
Please accept my sincere apologies concerning my actions, and I hope to better myself both as a person and as a member of this community in the coming future.

It looks like you're trying to convince yourself (and us) that your losses are not your fault. Maybe they aren't. Maybe the ones you have in mind weren't. But you're not going to improve this way.

Well, 2k ELO was an exaggeration, but in a lot of games there is someone on the enemy team who manages to snowball harder than me so it ends up being a contest about which of us can carry harder... and often it's him.
Then again, my problem is often the taking advantage of small leads. I can crush my lane opponent 5/0 and force him out of 60% of his farm but i often can't get his tower down before 15-20 minutes and by then, all other lanes already lost 0/5. If i try to roam before that, it often ends up with my tower taking damage even when i shoved the lane before leaving it. I already thought about going teleport/flash instead of ignite/flash but then i might lose the lane advantage and my teams are rarely warding good enough to give me a spot to teleport to (especially mids).

directing your team and making plays on the map is way more important than winning your own lane. IE: if you are actually better, you should be able to buy a lot of wards and still have an item lead because you are winning that hard in CS.
also as a top laner, it is better to go gank mid and/or force dragon once you are ahead than sit top and deny their already losing top lane another 10 CS. their top lane losing by 30 cs instead of 20 isn't going to do anything to help your already losing mid and bot lanes. work on knowing when and where to roam so you don't waste your advantage.
you should always be watching the map and pinging incoming ganks for your team or directing them on what to do after a fight. people will say "omg its not my job" but if you are actually 200-300 elo better than your current rating you need to use your superior game knowledge to keep them from dying / making mistakes

everyone has games that are just free losses. just assume that they are getting balanced out by the free wins you get and ignore them so you can focus on the games where you actually impact the outcome.
