I think it'll be required on every jungler until people can figure out safer builds/routes that don't need it, but I think unless you're a god mode jungler at level 1 you will. On the bright side there is at least some diversity in the items that build out of machete. I mean it's petty obvious on who you are going to build which upgrade on, but at least you're not gimped into buying an item that won't help you at all later.

IMO if you don't lose a significant amount of speed from starting Cloth over Machete, Cloth will always be better, because if 2 junglers meet in the jungle, and one has Cloth, and the other has Machete, the guy with Cloth will out-duel the guy with Machete.
EDIT: nm just checked and apparently Machete affects all damage, not just autoattacks. Boring.
EDIT 2: this does mean that if your team is going to do Baron, and you're coming from base, you should buy a Machete and sell it later. 10% increased damage to Baron + 10 true damage per attack is worth the 90 gold net loss.

In Riot's patch notes, when they change the numeric value of something, they always formulate it "X is increased to {new value} from {old value}". This always confuses the hell out of me because I always assume the old value is going to come first. Does this bother anyone else? Have you gotten used to it?

They could just say "X is now {new value}", but the old values are given for convenience's sake, kind of like a parenthetical remark afterwards.

That's been like that since the start of the PBE update. The voidlings reportedly could tank the entire jungle at normal damage. You just have to take turns tanking.

It still works, and is surprisingly one of the easier junglers if you're familiar with his mechanics.
