People picked her because the other supports have really been beat hard. Soraka is still really strong, but she struggles really hard against kill lanes, especially those containing Leona. Sona was probably overnerfed, but her early damage was far too high. They need to compensate a little in other areas. Taric imo just has a problematic kit. Alistar is still quite strong, and obviously there's the rise of Nunu who amplifies your AD carry such a ridiculous amount (probably too much).
Hard to say what affect the Blue nerf will really have on gameplay. Maybe it'll reign in the big abuses like Swain/Anivia, but we'll see.
Viktor should definitely be seeing a lot of play. His ult already does too much damage and now that you can out-trade thanks to the shield, his laning should be quite powerful.
Irelia probably overnerfed. Hurts her already shitty early laning without having much affect on her later game that's too strong.
How'd they take this long to change Olaf's tooltip?
Rammus changes probably won't affect much, but it'll still be obnoxious to play around.
Shaco definitely not nerfed hard enough. Need to nerf the kit (deceive range/stealth duration/bonus crit, etc.) if you want to reign him in.
Shen definitely not nerfed hard enough. Ult needs to be given a range like all other global ults that teleport.
Shyv just needs a small nerf to her W and she'll be balanced.
MoM should be very good for AD casters like Renekton, as well as the obvious Mundo.
Getting really tired of junglers being nerfed because of lane abuses, but not sure how they can fix that problem.
Not sure how much the heal nerf will change things.
if they nerf shen's ult range he'll be 100% unplayed.

I think janna's passive that lets people get away so many times causes her to have one of the highest w/l ratios in the game. Nothing to do with her shield.

I agree that Janna didn't need a nerf, but Riot always is nerfing fotm heroes. Pros went heavy on Janna in IEM but nothing really drastically changed game wise except they decided to actually pick her this time.
Sona and Soraka just became unpopular for the past few weeks but the numbers nerfed on Sona were never a big deal relative to her ability to still be a strong lane partner and have the ability to carry hard AoE CC. Sona just became a little normalized. Soraka also was basically not nerfed at all, not providing herself mana does not change a single thing since casting E is still 0 cost and heals are on 20s cooldown, in fact, her E was heavily buffed to provide absurd mana now in laning phase.

Viktor buff only affects the movement speed, not the shield, right? I hardly see that making any difference at all, but I've never really liked the power augment anyway.

Sona's numbers were definitely a big deal. The fact that her lvl 5 Q was basically a lvl 2 Taric ulti was insane+her really high early game burst was why she was top support for a long time. The reason why Soraka is played less is because Soraka tends to fit best in passive lanes and a passive bot lane is easily punished.

I remember a game where my ult was cancelled 3 times in a row on one kill. It was so noticable the person I was ganking with mentioned it in chat.
I wonder if they'll fix the cho'gath ult problem with the cast delay letting people dodge it.

Maw+Wits+atma seem like a solid 3 defence+offence items for those carry bruisers like olaf. Esp since olaf gets free resists from ult so you don't need to go overboard on resists. Add some health and you are set.
Also makes way for a good midgame build that transitions directly into a good lategame build as well.

Lategame - wriggles(may sell for BT), wits, Mallet/warmog, atma, Maw

MaW is gunna be a huge metashift back into bruiser centric comps. I'm calling it now.
The main weaknesses of bruisers were their weak scaling into late game, but with an item like MaW that has strong midgame(hex drinker), and strong lategame stats, I don't see how this item won't get nerfed.
This is the new bruiser meta.
wriggles - > phage ->hex drinker ->glacial shroud or atma's or randuins-> frozmallet->maw's-

Also about jax, the 10 health per level increase means he gets 180 more health at lvl18. Add in the changes to health in the remake (+50 to base and +5 per level) new jax gets 320 more health than old jax. Old jax ult game MR, new jax ult gives armor+MR. Also AOE damage reduction during counterstrike.
Old jax did get something like 450health just from HGB+GRB. And all the dodge he built AND the way lower CD on the stun.
