Like my problem with aegis is that its a good item, but there really isnt a single role that feels good buying it. Support gets shurelias for the movespeed, jungle has better options (and at this point is damn near as gold starved as support), ap and ad carries arent gonna get it. To me, it seems like solo top tanky dps is realistically the best bet since they get the most farm for a class that benefits from aegis directly, but again, there are better options that bring more power for a tp dragon fight (ie damage or direct tank). So ya. Its a good item. Its just IMO there is no decent option to pick one up outside a few edge cases. | ||

Aegis is great, don't get me wrong, but the majority of its cost is purely for the holder. Whereas Starks and WotA have the majority of their cost benefit onto the aura. Aegis probably, more like definitely , gives the team more survivability than WotA and Starks, but they don't fill the same roles. Aegis is for just buffing your team's defense, while WotA/Starks are more geared towards sustain and offensive capabilities. To put it in perspective, Stark's gives 2/3 of a fully stacked warmog's health regen and a ghostblade's armor penon top of zeal's attack speed and more lifesteal than anything but a fully stacked BT to your whole team. | ||

As for the aura items, it's mainly because defensive stats are overall just better for your team as a whole. Wota and starks are more situational. You whole team can always benefit from more def, but more AS on your support or some spell vamp on an ashe isn't as useful. So those items need to be slightly more cost efficient than aegis already is to make up for the "waste" that often is thrown in. | ||

Stark's is insane if you have a heavy physical dps team and it's a really underrated item. It also gives you some sustain if you have a noheal support like janna. | ||
