Hey Donald Sterling wasn’t racist he was a big employer for the African American community!
He was even alright with his mistress banging a black guy as long as he didn’t hear about it

The standing and clapping during sotu is so infuriating. The phoniness of it all sure doesn't inspire confidence during these scary times. Had a few moments of graveness and real talk about Ukraine in the beginning and now it's like campaign stumping.
Global minimum tax rate is good to hear brought up though.

Joe Biden is describing all the problems he and his party caused and then saying that he was the solution. No

Before he became VP, Biden's too biggest contributions were a) a disastrous crime bill that hurt blacks b) turning a SCOTUS nomination into a sideshow by defaming one of the greatest legal minds of the generation, who was also black.

The simplistic understanding of racism are the people in this thread that think a question like whether an entire political party is racist can be answered as a yes/no question.

I'll interpret that as a, "you are right but I'll bring up another example that I think is more egregious so it will make my original somewhat flawed argument look less bad by comparison."

Give it up @BlackJack. This thread is purely performative. I'm just here to, hopefully, some shove some of their own shit under their nose.

Yeah, you are right. Serving under a black President doesn't automatically make you not a racist. I'll happily concede that part of my argument since it is obviously distracting from my broader point.

Honestly a great speech, one of the best from Biden. Not sure how much will actually get done but it is a great speech.

By describing how Hunter Biden, who is his own person, has affiliations with Ukrainian companies, and that that is proof that Joe is listening to an amorphous shadowy "they" for corrupt profiteering purposes?
You'll forgive the people you're trying to own if they don't necessarily feel owned by that argument.

His speech was composed of the following:
1. Drumbeating on platitudes: Ukraine, Built in America 2. Pretending he was the solution to problems he and his party caused (lockdowns, inflation) 3. Taking credit for things he didn't do: Intel plant, some of them things Trump explicitly did 4. Nonsense distractions like the fake voting suppression and trans violence

Are there racists on TL? By the law of averages almost certainly.
If they post racist bile on TL, are they immediately banned? Also yes.
Is TL a racist organisation because it has racists posting under its banner? Well no, because they get banned if they make themselves known.
I assume you see where I’m going with this analogy

What I just still can't fathom is how, if we just changed the details around a little bit, you'd be all over this. If I said this was Mitch McConnell (or even Nancy Pelosi, I'm sure), you'd rail against it. If I was a super Lefty who said that all mainstream politicians were sellouts to corporate interests, you'd be sagely nodding along with me. We've known who Joe Biden is for forever. I'm not even saying the worst I could say about him. I'm saying his an opportunist. There is no "they", there is only whoever is in front of him. Maybe I'm guilty of overpersonalizing but that's actually my point. There is no "Joe Biden". It's just whatever gets put on his docket.

I was told it was illegal to insinuate that our elections were not 100% secure.
