Thanks for the recommendations, in which stores do you tend to find Glenfiddich? I always bought alcohol in grocerie stores, but so far no luck.

For tumblers I bought a couple of Jameson glasses at my local Trinkgut. On October 17 2013 03:13 SixStrings wrote: Thanks for the recommendations, in which stores do you tend to find Glenfiddich? If you have a Trinkgut beverage store in your area you can check that one out, at least the one near me offers a suprising amount of spirits. http://www.whisky.de/shop/ Would be another alternative.

Japanese stuff is really good, imo. It is different, even though it's trying really hard to be scotch. Yoichi is really good, Nikka from the barrel is really tasty too (bear in mind it's an old malt blended with a young grain; I love it but some think it's a bit harsh.) The other Japanese whisky I've had was some hard to find "Diamond blue" or something like that? It was really nice... young and underdeveloped, but I loved the totally dominant oak character. tldr; Japanese stuff isn't as easy to categorise, you've really gotta go try them individually. Also bought some Glenfiddich 12 and 18... I dislike them both ![]()

Most familiar with Yamazaki & Hakushu, but i'm not an expert though. I'm sure many have experience though. Highly respected whiskeys for the most part. Few reviews by Ralfy + Show Spoiler +

Is a limited edition run or something? i tasted the golden explorer at work (a client offered my boss the bottle, we don't usually drink) and he let every1 have a glass. None of us was expecting anything fantastic considering other johnny products, but it was definitely better than their other stuff (tho i've never tasted green label). Not sure how much it costs, but i would say it's a good mid range whisky. mind you i'm no specialist but i have tasted quite a few.

I always put a single ice cube in my scotch to both slightly cool it and to cut it just a little. I enjoy it much more that way.
